Lion-O looks like a sleep paralysis demon.
I'm sure that some 5-year-olds found it awesome, but I'm sure that Thundercats dancing aggrivated anyone older than that.
it stands to reason that frogs would be into hip-hop
Lmao. The funny thing is, the tag line for their show was, "Who can do hip hop better than a frog can"?
I thought Lion-O was Carrot Top at first
Karate Cat & Street Frogs was part of an hour long cartoon show called 'The Comic Strip', produced by the same company that made Thundercats & Silverhawks. The show wasn't just Street Frogs & Karate Cat, but also the shows Camp Mini Mon & Tiger Sharks. Each show lasted 15 minutes each, except for Tiger Sharks which was split into two halves, w/either Street Frogs, Karate Cat or Camp Mini Mon in between. Tiger Sharks were basically the underwater version of Thundercats & Silverhawks, even featuring some of the same voice cast.
As for Gumby & Pokey? I have no clue as to why they were there in ghe first place. 😅
I bet the group that produced the traveling show already had the rights to Gumby, so they'd just throw him in.
Rankin Bass produced Thundercats, Silver Hawks, and the Comic Strip.
looks like nightmare fuel
You said a mouthful!
If I would've had to see that as a kid I would've stopped collecting Silverhawks.
you dare talk against the catladies like this... oh... nevermind...
Dang Junkman that was funny.
in my head it was funnier cause I thought I could fit under the table better lol damn it was tight
Lion-O gettin jiggy
5:58 looks like Pantho has a lot on his mind
"Should I use the litter box, or just go outside to do my business?"
I went to this show in the Washington DC area. There was no Karate Cat or frogs, but the ‘Tiger Sharks’ were there.
It looks like an quite highly budget school play from 1977...
The lightning, the costumes. It all connotates the 70's in my eyes.
We laughed at the commercials. This is the stuff schools used to go on field trips to. Our school went to one of the Alvin and the Chipmunks stage shows. I'm glad we dodged this one.
8:02 Lady in front is Melodia(?) music using villain from Silverhawks. Playing her keytar, musical notes on a a musical staff, flow out of the end that is out of frame (lower right).
The guy in sunglasses, is a gambling inspired Silverhawks villain. He runs the casino in the show. And I believe his 'eyes' are slot machine wheels. Or they might be dice.
Are you blind when you're born?
Can you see in the dark?
Can you look at a king?
Would you sit on his throne?
I thought you were sleeping under your desk like George. :)
Masters Of The Universe also had a live stage show in 1986 aka The Power Tour!🤗⚔💀🏰
Karate Cat looks like MC Skat Kat after a crack addiction.
Junkman you put out gold today. First, everyone loves talking about collecting. Then this one. Jokes aside, it looks awesome, Thundercats and Silver Hawks, then you throw in the others. I don't like musicals, but I would have been dying to see this as a kid. Those shows were awesome and this looks pretty cool. When I saw the animated He-Man & She-Ra movie, they had actors playing them both. I thought it was the coolest thing. I definitely would have wanted to see this. The Street Frogs look hilarious. And the Thudercats, is that Tracy Morgan as Panthro? Kidding 😂😂😂 Anyway, great videos today.
All things considered they got the look down
According to my uncle, who was a talent scout / manager for up and coming comedians, Scott Thompson was having trouble developing his signature look. To lift his spirits, my uncle took Scott to see Thundercats Live and upon seeing Lion-O, Scott had an epiphany and it was at that moment Carrot Top was born.
Prob was like that movie the Wrestler following that cast around back then behind the scenes
I have a sudden desire for a prestige 8 part documentary about the raw & raucous behind the scenes action of the Thundercats stage show.
Snarf needed his booger sugar
Reminds me of the Harry Enfield skit called the palace of righteous justice. lol
Did not knew it existed
The costumes don't look that bad for the time period 😂
I played a foot soldier in a TMNT live show I'm 1989. Thank you for allowing me this flex JM. Also, being under a table only protects you from nuclear explosions, not Thundercats.
I’m not taking the risk
If I'm going to see Thundercats, choreographed dance routines are not what I'm there for.
I remember being very young and seeing ads for 'Cats' while we were visiting the city. I asked my mother if we could go. "No.... you won't like that"
Cat people running around? Looks awesome! Turns out, I absolutely would not have liked that. I would've been, "why are they singing again? This is stupid"
The same things I'd be saying about the Thundercats show.
"Why are they singing again?" :)
"Why? WHY??! ANSWER ME!!"
@@tperson8347 excuse me, excuse me. How much longer is the singing? My son wants to know when the battle begins.
-confused looks
@@shanester1832
Hahah! :) My son! 🤣
They should have done what was done with the He-Man stage show and gotten bodybuilders to play dress up, Panthro looks like he's growing a tumor on his forehead.
Lino kinda looks like Joe Tempest from Europe, but in an XXX-rated parody movie...
I'm glad I never did see anything like this. Can you imagine a bunch of five year old kids running around yelling HO?
Looks pretty good.
Thanks Junkman,I was wondering if the rubbish Thundercats had a giant litter tray on stage, so that they could all take a shite half way through the show😅.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
What the hell were the ads for this even like?
COMING SOON : MAN MADE HORRORS BEYOND YOUR COMPREHENSION
I was also too old when "ThunderCats" came out in 1985 or "SilverHawks" (1986), but I wasn't even aware of "The Comic Strip" the TV series until this video. I don't remember even hearing of "The Mini-Monsters", "Street Frogs" or "Karate Kat" before, although "TigerSharks" strikes a bell, but I don't really remember them either.
That was a funny joke...🤘🏼💯✔️
My parents took me to this show at the Richfield colosseum... no wonder I cried throughout the show... they looked creepy
A black fella wearing grey face..........yoooooooooo tooooo funny
It's zoobaly zoo.
Wow I would never take my kid to see something that creepy and I know I would have never wanted to see this growing up I never knew it was out there it is creepy. Panthro looks like the eagle character from Buck Rodgers.
What is that symbol from on your hat? I know I've seen it before but can't place it
Thundercats? More like Blundercats!
This reminds me of that Ninja Turtles live show that they had in the early 90s.
I'm SO glad I missed that.
It would be better if that guy's name was Dennis Phillips, that would sound better and a whole lot less awkward.
Thanks for the video
Might as well be SNL thundercats 😮
How many takes did it take you to get up without hitting your head?
None but hit it a lot getting under it. I didn’t know it’s gonna be that tight
don't watch the Cats live action movie.
Meow!
Its like watching cats with steroids and more psychedelia of course! It would be much better if they do a puppet show featuring those instead of this!
I remember the stage show promos. They were ridiculously ugly, weird, and creepy, and they really annoyed me.
Yeah, I was probably the target audience and I remember being repelled by those. On rare occasion you'd see ads for He-man show or ninja turtles and it was clear that the people making those stage shows don't "get it," don't understand what makes kids like it.
@@shanester1832
I remember I kinda wanted to see the Ninja Turtle live show/concert.
I was a little kid, I didn't know what all it entailed.
Then I saw footage as an adult and I couldn't believe what I saw.
Not only that, but the innuendos that were thrown around casually on a day time talk show talking about having an interspecies relationship with April ..
it was weird and REALLY awkward.
Sure, it was the early 90s, but that's no excuse.
I was SO glad I missed that live show.
Yeah, the He-Man and TMNT shows were also plain weird. Where did this song and dance stuff with the 80s and 90s cartoons start? Maybe with Cats on Broadway or whatever? I hated those commercials as a kid.
@@Sci-Fi-Mike
The way I see the 80s and early 90s is this is the last chance to do something crazy that would be unacceptable later. :)
With the early 90s, they had to really squeeze it in at the last minute. :)
@tperson8347 , you're definitely right regarding the not-so-subtle innuendo. I still remember Rizzo the Rat asking Brooke Shields her opinion on interspecial dating in Muppets Take Manhattan in 1984 and Michelangelo having a bit of a thing for April in the 1990 TMNT movie, "She called me Mikey" as he grooms his bald head. 😅
I just really didn't like the transformation of the cartoons into their live on-stage appearances. That and the bad live songs were what bothered me.
Makes me glad that I never got into thundercats.
Definitely cringe. Thundercats where made to kick a** and fight bad guys not shake it on the dance floor. They where ment for high paced action animation not west side story. I rewatched the tmnt one recently for 1990 and God it was so bad. I was 7 then granted but it was horrible.
