- In 1987 fans of He-man Masters of the Universe were excited about the live action movie but some fans had already seen a live action He-man, Skeletor, Man-at-Arms, Beast Man, She-ra and more. He-man Master of the Universe Power Tour started going on tour across America in 1986 and finished up after breaking records for ticket sales in 1987!

When I went to see the animated He Man and She Ra movie in theaters they gave out a comic book and had a guy dressed as He Man in the lobby who would sign the comic. Theater going was so much more fun back then.
dude honestly, for a kid in the 80s, that was badass as hell! To see the actual toys come to life like that would have blown my socks off - they put great detail and accuracy into the costumes. This looks better than the movie turned out in many ways lol
Kids now wouldn't understand how big the ice capades was back then.
I've got a life size She Ra, now that's what I call a HOT TOY :)
I absolutely remember this tour because I saw it at Radio City Music Hall, as a kid in 87 this show was awesome, so was The Thundercats live action tour...ahhh the good old days.
That’s Awesome ! Glad you liked it! Love, Orko and Pokey ❤️ yep I was both characters! Great experience
Skeletor’s my spirit animal
I saw this show when it came to Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY. It was a surprise from my mom. I was 10 yrs old and loved it. Had a light-up sword and everything! However, with age, I don't remember the plot so well. The production was top notch for the time. The sets, costumes, and effects were high-quality. This was a huge arena tour at the time. I also remember it having a float and small production in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Can probably find it here on UA-cam. I was a HUGE Masters of the Universe fan, and had nearly every figure, vehicle, and playset. That is why this arena show was so great. Unlike the 1987 movie, it actually actually took place mainly on Eternia, and it showvased a lot of the characters kids knew and had toys of. The movie had like 6. This show had at least 20-25 characters from the show and toyline. It is a very fond childhood memory.
Dolph Lundgren introduced the float on TV.
I was there too!!! I don't remember the plot but I remember my friends and I having a blast!!! We left with so much merchandise, all of us left with a power sword. It was so cool for the time.
3:04 *"I HAVE THE POWER!!!"* I got Chills.
I definitely remember this. My siblings and I saw it at Radio City Music Hall back in 1987. I seem to remember that the major premise of it was that He-Man and She-Ra et al came to Earth to teach the audience about their culture. They used Songster to tell simplified wersions of their ancient history, how King Randor met Queen Marlena, how Adora was abducted, how Adam became He-Man, and how Adora became She-Ra. Then, of course, the bad guys showed up, and all hell broke loose. I do remember that ot was fun to watch.
I liked the Costumes in the Live Show. Very Toy Accurate.
And not even Skeletor took a knee during the Eternia National Anthem. RESPECT!
Because Skeletor wouldn't care about cops killing unarmed people. How many times do you think Skeletor tried to kill Clamp Champ?
@@scottandrewhutchins great reply lol
Check your Eternian privilege.

"He wuz going to college!"
He can't keep getting away with this shit!
This is more cartoon accurate and has better casting than anything Hollywood will ever give us.
I saw the live action Conan the Barbarian show at Universal Studios when I was a kid. I had no idea that there was a live action Masters of the Universe show. It looks terrible to adult me. Seven year old me would have probably loved it.
I saw the Conan show too, there's video of me meeting Conan, it changed my life.
Oh and Gardy Goddard who directed the MOTU movie, directed the Conan show, and later directed the live portion of the Terminator 3D show, that was held in the same soundstage as the Conan show.
The Conan show basically ripped off He-Man. Rather than being based on the Conan we know, it featured a skinny guy that was magically turned buff.
I got to see this as a kid 5 or 6 years old at the Kansas Coliseum. At one point they had He-man and Skeletor perform from the stands and Skeletor was standing directly next to me. He flung his power staff out to the side and came inches from hitting me in the head.
man this I'm sure had made every kid cry with joy
I saw this show as a kid in BC, Canada.
We were there! ❤ Orko. Great memories
I remember the advertisement they put in the comic book.
Good job Junkie that was a hard one!
While I was watching this I had to look up the power to her. There's a page dedicated to power con that has the full performance with commentary. I'm going to watch that right after this video
Thank you for this Episode 💯⭐️ love it
My condolences for having to make this video. I could hear the pain in your words from having to deliver this.
I wonder if Mattel Holding out for more Money was the reason for this late blossoming of He-man in the late eighties
I was thinking they saw a movie and stuff as something to do to bring life back to it, playing their cards to long. but who knows :)
I don't know, it wasn't perfect but I kind of liked the movie. Even then, I knew they couldn't do a movie just like the animated series given the state of effects and such back then so I didn't mind that most of it took place on Earth, a lot of the characters were redesigned and all that. I just liked having it.
I remember my high school was going to book this as a school trip but due to very low interest from parents and kids; it never happened.
Lol from a high school? I’m not surprised
The biggest question is did Man a t Arms have a moustache or not?
Even before this version, there was ANOTHER live-action He-Man, the very 1st one, in fact - the actor who modeled for him on the Filmation animated series.
i saw the animated movie, The Secret of the Sword in 1985, and the live action movie in 1987, so it was like we got two He man movies in a three year period, and i liked seeing SheRa in the first movie, i would have gotten a SheRa figure if they put her figure in the Masters section and in a SheRa box but in the Masters section and if she was built like Teela's figure or with more muscles than Teela's figure.
She was built like Teela. My sister had the entire Shera toy line and they all fit right in with the MOTU toys.
Another great find JM. Masters was my thing - but you’re right when the movie came out that love had fizzled.
Never heard of this...but I know the elementary school me would have gone...but it’s cheesey bad now
I remember the TV spot ,didn't see the show,,,dude ur the best ,,I enjoy and laugh my ass off watching your shows,,,great job!!!!
Possible sidenote: I think the actor who played He-Man and the actress who played She-Ra ended up marrying
were married at the time
That's better than a brother and sister playing a husband and wife! Thanks for the info!
I remember my parents mentioning that when we saw it at Radio City Music Hall in 1987.
They’re still married today! Love them
At least the costumes looked like the figures and most of the voices sounded like the cartoons.
Ninja Turtles did something like this too. Live-action stage shows were weird but fun at the same time.
I'm surprised Star Wars didn't try it, a way to redo the Holiday Special on stage.
They did have a live-action stage show but it was just characters doing dance-offs and jokes called The Hyperspace Hoopla. It didn't have a full story but it did get a lot of cheers and laughs.
I think that's because they were pre-recorded using the voice actors. I know the Skeletor stuff was there is no mistaking that voice.
Japan had a George Lucas stage show which had not just Star Wars, but also things like Willow.
I remember the commercials for this but that’s the end of my knowledge.
It was more true to He Man, then the movie. I didn't know about this, Great stuff. ⚔️
I saw this at Studio city Universal Studios it was great
Wonder if there was a video released on the power tour
Rumour is the new series from Silent Bob is similar. Something happens to HeMan and and the story turns out to be how Teela saves the day. Cant wait!! ...smdh
I saw this as a kid. I actually thought I made it up. Good to know it was real!
Até hoje esperando o filme do He-man
Kick ass channel man 💪💪💪
Bottom line is if they want He-Man to be successful they need to make the movie rated R the 80s kids are the last kids who really got into He-Man and now we are all grown
Does anyone remember the mall tour with heman and she ra? Was this part of it. I don't remember it, but I have pictures of it so maybe 84 or 85.
Did these guys make an appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade one year?
Not sure if there is footage on line, but there was a He-Man float in the Macy's day parade, complete with a live action performance.
OMG Junkman you found another one that I never heard of as a kid. Where do you find these!?. Lets face it -This was Masters Of the Universe's version of Star Wars' Holiday Special!! Did Bea Arthur appear in it?? LOL. Wow this looked Hideous!!!
I didn't find it.... I LIVED IT :)
@@ThatJunkmanI Iived it too!🤗🙏👍👊
There was a He-Man tour?? Lol i never knew that and lived near new york as a kid!
I forgot about that. I wanted to go when I was a kid
The “Eternian National Anthem” sounds suspiciously like “O Canada”
Seems better than the proposed Netflix He-Man movie...
Orko...damn.😲
I like this channel, Subbed😉
I like the 1987-HE-MAN-film.
I never saw it. I think I saw some print ads for it because it sounded familiar as soon as I heard the name. It's better than the time at the Marion County (Indianapolis) Fair where they said He-Man and Skeletor would be there, and they led us in the Hokey Pokey and gave us Lady Lovely Locks clips. That was a doll line where girls put mice with tails that resembled human hair in their hair. None of the kids wanted theirs, and they got left in a big pile. Obviously, the stage show needed writers as good as the TV show. It sounds like John Erwin and Alan Oppenheimer did the prerecords, so it would be interesting to task them about it.
I went to see this as a kid... but something happened and I didn't get to see jt.... I don't know if they canceled or it sold out (I was only 6 or 7 so I can't remember(
I just listened to the audio and the actual voice actors for the cartoon series voiced for the stage I want to create my own cartoon using the audio if im allowed.
Lmao, I remember this
I love the Live Action Movie.
I wonder if they make a Songster figure of MOTU in these years
I wonder if this is on UA-cam.
She-man was great !
Us folks outside of america would never ever know about this stuff if you didnt tell us about it.
I remember going but not much of what went on.
Dude playing he man is hot
If you were 27 and going there alone you probably would have gotten tagged as something other than a fan of He-Man. :)
they had Snout Spout and Rio Blast and Clamp Champ and that burst apart robot, i forget his name, bu they were all the late edition figures, Moss Man and Stinkor predate the characters they used , unless they had those characters also?
I remember a Thundercats stage show similar to this. And lets not forget the awful tmnt coming out of there shells tour....or mabye we should forget it lol
Looks better than the Dolph Lundgren movie and I actually like that movie.
real live action he man movie in 2024
Fun
Really I hade no ida
Yes. Clamp Champ. :)
This is what I was talking about in the comment section for the Lucas stage show video, I don't think I'd like THIS one.
The MOTU stage show looks like it's for kids whereas the Lucas stage show looks like it has everyone in mind.
I'm not feelin' the ice skating, but that Skeletor costume is badbutt. :)
I think I'll stick to the cheesey MOTU movie. :)
Thanks for the video
The film may be bad, but this makes it look like Hamlet in comparison
Seria genial entrevistar a los actores detras de los personajes, beastman, hordak, sorceres....gracias por el video. Los personajes de veian muy parecido a los juguetes...es cierto. Gracias por tu video...! Greatins from Chile, bro!!!
Adoria and Orak??? New characters??
I’ll do figure eights, all over your face LOL. Who could forget that classic, beast man line?
Man at 7 years old I would've eaten this shit up. But now at 41, all I can do is cringe lol
LOL why the heck does that He-Man look like randy santel with a blonde wig
Dude...I love your reactions! I would be willing to say this show contributed to poor theatrical numbers. This show, look at it. As you said, they looked like the toys. Unlike the movie Beastman who looked like a human/Crite offspring.
This show was, visually, what kids wanted to see on the big screen...not some artistic interpretation of the characters.
And, having the voices dubbed by the original TV show cast gave this...Icecapades interpretation more credibility, in the eyes of children, and adults, than the movie with Tom Paris, and Mononna from Friends!
This looked absolutely terrible! I probably would have loved it as a kid!
I grew up in Chicago, but I wanted to go bad, sad;y I didnt get to go. But the script sounds bad, the film was very disappointing to me. I still have my entire figure collection form then.
This version of He-Man sounds cringe as hell. I would have been embarrassed to be in that audience.
ORACfamed Super computer with the memories of a dead man programmed inside him, and most likely the only survivor of Gauda Prime) doesn't like to be confused with Orko (famed condom with wings beloved by my mum and the bane o Man At Arms)
.
I'm sure that Avon feels (if he had feelings) fhe same and the rest of the crew of the 'Liberator'/'Scorpio' would agree with them.....
That is unless you can't remember....LOL
As they say on Planet Eternia (at least if the 1987 film is to be believed) Good Journey
Lol I noticed I said that when I was doing the edit. I I told myself I wouldn’t say it and I did
😬...Yeah, that's a lotta cringe...💯✔
Oh man, I looked up some promotional pics of this and it looks BAD. Put yourself in the shoes of a parent having to sit through the whole thing. Mom was probably checking out He-Man and enjoying it. Unfortunately, Dad didn't have much to look at. Teela's costume isn't the FilmMation one, so that is a huge loss. She-Ra looks generic and Sorceress didn't translate well at all. Evil-Lyn was Dad's best bet for entertainment, but as you know, purple eye shadow can only take you so far. This was cringe of the highest order.
Dolph Lundgren's Masters of the universe and Bob Hoskins super Mario Bros are my guilty pleasures!! 😂🤣😂
Um ……😂
Songster sucks!! They should've gotten that guitar player from Fury Road!
I met He-Man and Skeletor at Tower Mall in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1983/84.
Yeah....Who cares?

I wish I had been born in the '70's to able to witness this gloriously campy crap show,😆.
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
He-Shall Rise Again !
Live action He Man Musical. That just sounds awkward but if you were a small kid it would have been fun I;m sure.
I can’t agree with you on the 1987 movie. I love that movie
Courteney Cox was in Masters of the Universe, Back when she wasn't well known.
I saw it at the Cow Palace as a kid. As I recall, I enjoyed it. I remember very little of it, aside from the guitar guy and the roller skate race. I do recall I did like it very much more than the film, as it was far, far more accurate.
I kept the accompanying souvenir book for several years, I may very well still have it somewhere.
I would pay great money to watch a skating competition between Heman and Ninjor
FYI you mispronounced several names. It’s Ah-door-uh not Ah-door-e-uh. At one point towards the end you also mispronounced Orko.
Never knew about the power tour. I know everyone is down on the 1987 film but i loved it as a kid when i saw it the theatre. Im now 39 and still love that movie.
I don't know if I dreamed this because I have never encountered no one else who remembers this. When they were promoting this they did a segment on Regis' show here in NY. They were outside and Skelletor comes running out of the subway threatening to kidnap Regis. He Man runs from off camera and chases Skelletor away.
I remember seeing theMOTU characters in a parade in NYC.
Mattel sponsored a float that had actors perform as the characters at the Thanksgiving Day parade for 4 or 5 years.
I remember when this came to Philadelphia. My dad and uncle took me, my sisters, three of my cousins and two neighbor kids who just happened to be there when we were getting in the car to go. It was so badass back then.
Hi I went to the power tour when it was in San Diego county here in CA back in 1986 and I was 12 at the time I loved the show I had a an easier time understanding it because I grew up with the original cartoon basically the it's the story of secret of the sword that came out as an animation movie by filmation as for me I will always have the power of castle grayskull
I don't understand why people say anything good about that movie.
I completely forgot about this. Never saw the show, but thanks to your video I am now re-aquatinted with that tv commercial
