Interesting. I have had to face the 'normal' Scandi gambit (3... Nxc6) a few times and usually have no issues winning as White as I have done my prep and typically at my level (c1000) Black hasn't - providing you don't fall for the traps in the video Black has just watched. No-one has played 3... Qc7 yet although I expect to see it soon following Igor's publicity. Even at my level I would not take on b7. Isn't the principle "if you don't understand a gambit don't accept it" ? I would just have played d4 automatically.
But then there's the adage that "the best way to refute a gambit is to accept it." Although it appears there are a few accepted gambits that are just not good to accept.
I found helpful the idea of queenside kasteling if white after 0-0 kg4 doesn't play "something" but the imho natural move 8. d4, for to take back with the queen if black knight takes in the next move.
I think in the first variation pawn a6 needs to be played or they’re just gonna pin your knight with their bishop. The question is is there enough time to do that when you’ve already gambited 2 pawns
So, what would you say would be White's best defence against this attack? It seems to me that Black's attack is possible just because the white king is stationed on g1. If I were playing White, my instinct would tell me to accept the gambit, take as many pawns as Black is offering me, then develop my queen side and castle there. Castling queen-side should stop Black's attack dead in its tracks, unless I'm missing something. Does this sound like a good plan? Or would White be better off just declining the gambit in the first place? Or none of the above (in which case, what else)?
Love Igor, but he doesn’t always cover all the opponent’s options. Maybe he sometimes only covers their best or most common moves, but it comes across as rather presumptive 🤷🏻 (Sorry Igor!) 😄
Study tactics and checkmate patterns, also analyze your own games to learn with your mistakes. In the opening just try to develop your pieces, you don't need to memorize a lot of moves to play good chess
Learn about material advantage, versus time, space, and pawn structure advantages. Also, Learn how to best make the board favor your minor pieces (knights and bishops). If you know just that much, you're easily 1000 elo. With a little tactical acumen, you can easily be 1300 before you should really NEED to learn openings.
Instead of White h3 or d3, play c3. End of "attack." Plus no way would White castle in that situation. Unless you're playing Forrest Gump. My computer engines all laughed at this one. I will listen to their "whispers."
I don't know if it's just me but I don't believe in gambits and so called opening tricks and traps, i prefer playing a solid opening so that i will have a good position in my middle game ,
The Benkö Gambit is pretty sound indeed and, surprisingly, so is the Von Hennig-Schara Gambit. But I agree that this version of the Scandinavian is only worth playing in bullit chess. The King's Gambit is only exciting when Black cooperates (I've played it myself in corr. games). Eg 1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 exf4 is a lot less fun. Mainstream gambits like the Marshall Gambits in the Ruy Lopez and the Triangle (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.e4) are so good that many GMs have played them. So they're very heavy on theory.

Ok.🙂
Guruji, you need to explain counter play for this gambit as well pleaseeeeeeee
the 1:45 image perfectly captures my strategy most of the time.
Instructive! Thank you!
0:13 if d4 - cxd5, Nf3 - Nc6, Bb5 - Bf5
0:13 if d4 - cxd5, Bd3 - Nc6, c3 - Qc7
1:00 if Bb5 - 0-0-0
I used this first time after your video and I won straight away! :D
You must have been playing a chimpanzee.
dodging bullets like trump 😭😭
That's a (!!) from me.
3:39 I was not expecting that at all, lmao.
6:17 plan B - ( 7:19 - most played ) 7:49 - plan Bb
smart player - 9:22
0:10 plan A - ( 7:19 - most played ) 7:49 - plan Bb
thnx
I have played this alot, they almost never play Nf3, and instead play d4, which stops you from playing e5, gives black a much worse position
Pawns are made to be sacrificed to pay aggressively.
LOVE the Danish gambit and the Scandi so I’ll be playing this a ton. 💪
For bullet and blitz it can be great.
“They’re gonna be dodging bullets like trump”😂
😂

I just used this in a blitz game. Mate in 10 moves. Very gratifying. Thanks Igor!
Glad this was helpful for you

I am definitely not scared to play those crazy Gambits now.😎

best chess related channel. thanks.
What if they skip h3 and play c3 immediately??😮
The more solid lines are still important to know if your opponent simply refuses to take the third pawn.
Dang, this has some serious Alapin Gambit vibes. That's the first thing this variation reminded me of. Great video!
this is called the Pikota Gambit
@@mirrorimages822 I know. I meant, this has very similar fishing pole ideas to the Alapin Gambit against the Ruy Lopez.

in the Pikota Gambit the author of this opening has an entire lines for when White castles queenside
The trump line was very out of pocket 3:40
Indeed, works pretty good. thanks!❤
Glad this was helpful for you💛
Is it Blackburne-Kloosterboer variation of Scandinavian defense?
No,I don't think so.
it is called the Pikota Gambit when you take both pawns-the Blackburne is when you take the only 1 pawn
Made my first Brilliant move!
I like to Olay instead of Nf3 Bb5+
Really good opening
you are underrated
I agree
He’s my secret weapon. I’d rather nobody knows about him.
The first variation may be unhinged but it just got me a win! 😊
Holy shit! Mahn you're crazy 😂
where is that lichess analyzer for the most played move?

the Pikota Gambit is what it is called
any relation to the scientist Igor?
2nd Comment - one of the first viewers - Igor always makes the best videos - 4th viewer
then who am I
the fifth viewer?
8.c3 iso 8.d3 or 8.h3.
I just won a game🥶
no.11 prime :chad
So, what if instead he played f3, he goes G3?
No one is lower ratings takes any of these gambits.
sorry but c3 refutes this whole gambit in most lines..
What if White refuses to castle?
If White declines with 3. d4 cd c4, you just get the Panov.
No opponent plays like that I have lost around 6 games trying to make this work they don't even take the pawn in the first move.
So true.
If White declines with 3. d4 cd c4, you just get the Panov. Not sure if Nf6 instead of cd is any good.
May be its working under 1100 or so, did not work for me either. Stockfish is showing 2.0 already to weight after pawn sacrifices.
Love Igor, but he doesn’t always cover all the opponent’s options. Maybe he sometimes only covers their best or most common moves, but it comes across as rather presumptive 🤷🏻
(Sorry Igor!) 😄
It's called a rare variation for a reason. 🤷🏻♂️
How can someone with 100 elo get to 1000 or even more elo in chess because whenever I play I try to do opening but some just copy or just play random

Yes Yes Yes
What if they never castle
Dodging bullets like trump is crazy

Magnus carlsen boutta play this or hikaru
5:22 why no rook h1.king takes knight moves
If rook h1 queen takes
@@nrgamer9304 oh yeah I didn't see that
I played this and lost. Opponent made moves that weren't in the video
The video is just to spark main ideas from the line. Your suppose to set the position up and analyze different lines your self
😂😂😂😂
Dodging bullets like Trump lmaooo 😂
I don't know if it's just me but I don't believe in gambits and so called opening tricks and traps, i prefer playing a solid opening so that i will have a good position in my middle game ,
I agree that you shouldn't learn traps and gambits as a short term way of gaining ELO.
May not be viable but it is fun
there are some gambits that are legitimate openings (like the benko gambit)
The King's Gambit was good enough for Morphy and Anderssen and I firmly believe that they are the most exciting way to play chess
The Benkö Gambit is pretty sound indeed and, surprisingly, so is the Von Hennig-Schara Gambit. But I agree that this version of the Scandinavian is only worth playing in bullit chess.

hi
Lol, dodging bullets like Trump 😂.
i like this opening!!! I think I am a little NUTS!!!
"...dodging bullets like Trump." ROFL!!
brilliant moves spammer
7:30 good thing there wasn't a fourth piece to fork on f6 lol
Dodging bullets like Trump 😂
Dodging bulls like Trump. Lmbo

We could probably do without the political nonsense. I was expecting a bit more professionalism from a GM.
Yeah, very disappointed to hear GM Smirnov make light of a deadly serious situation. Stick to chess, Igor.
