Love your videos so much I’ve watched them all. Thank you UA-cam algorithm. Especially love how well you communicate what goes into being an elite athlete and the fact that not everything is perfect all of the time (e.g the track, the hecklers) you just deal with it really well. I can learn a lot from this, as a much older runner and person doing life. Also love the hour rule for brooding over crap things that happen, I’m very far away from this rn, but let me dream. Also going to buy those sunglasses and they should def sponsor you 😊
You're such a beast. Currently using your 5k training plan for a race in October (aiming for sub 24) and the speedwork I'm doing doesn't even compare to your effort. Super inspirational for my own runs, thanks for giving the motivation to go out and push myself! :)
Good thing about heat training is that in a month when temperature goes down you’ll be flying ⚡️ I live in Thailand and every time I go back to Spain I got free speed, can run forever 😅. Well done with the session. PS in Thailand workouts are either very early 6am or at sunset 😉if they see you running at 12 they’d thing you crazy haha
Today's post-run recovery hydration tip - have some water every time Phily mentions the weather 🤣 Only when I saw in the description that this was recorded in July did it make sense! Thanks for another great video as always
It was around 35-40 degrees here most of July and bit of August. It's still 25-32 degrees almost every day even in September. I've been doing some of my long runs around 6 AM and it's still 22 degrees at the start and humidity and dew point in the 70s. I've backed off on my pace most days and only paid attention to effort. Keep up the great videos.
I always feel the same way starting a hard session: just mentally need to brace myself for it. I did a ladder workout too this morning but I do mine by time. Otherwise I usually attempt to blast through the distance quicker than I should. Knowing I have to run for 3 minutes regardless of the distance covered keeps my pace where I want it to be. I also have found that training early in the morning (4:30 AM) is key to beating the summer heat. As usual, I love your videos and like your dedication to the sport.
I feel that, we've been getting unusually hot weather, plus stupid humidity, here in Canada. I totally skipped Monday's run because of it, and I've had a couple of runs this summer where my wife said I "didn't look right" after them, I'm hoping it translates to better endurance once fall rolls around...
I start most of my road runs at the top of a hill not far from my house (because why not start with a downhill and spoil myself before I get into the meat of the run, right? 😛), and there's always a 15-30 second pause at the top of the hill where I take in the view, take a few deep breaths, and mentally prepare myself for the grind ahead ♥I'm happy to see that more experienced runners go through a very similar process before their big workouts! I hope your vacation was exactly the break you needed, and thanks as always for sharing your journey with us.
This is why I like running at 3am 😁 Tbh it's just me feeling self conscious. I know 95% of people don't give a toss if a sweety lump goes by. I'd say most that do take notice are probably thinking well done. The airs cooler and got the roads and paths all to my self early mornings. Its great.
Nice work!! you’ll fly even more doing that sesh when it cools down!! It’s just starting to warm up here downunder..also ran on the surface of the sun the other day…was only 25C but it felt so much hotter🥵 bit of a shock to the system when I’ve been used to runs when it’s 15C & below…but, my Garmin decided I was 8% heat adapted in 1 session🤣 I’ve vowed & declared I’ll run earlier in the day…will see if that happens-or if I just whinge about the heat until I get used to it again! Lol!😂😂
If you can afford it I highly recommend you get a Vitamix, they are awesome and to be honest you won't believe the taste (they are very expensive though).
Running in the heat is not easy! Do you find that even a small change in temp causes a large change in effort? Nice to see Moss End garden centre- we used to get our Christmas tree there 😂
Of course, lactate is good. Lactic acid is not produced in the human body, but is produced by cows. Lacate is produced by the body when undergoing anaerobic exercise, through the anaerobic glycolytic system (fast glycolysis). Lactate is performance enhancing, and a fuel for muscle and other tissues. What hurts when lactate levels get high are the H+ ions, which makes the muscle cells increasing acidic. I only say this because so many athletes and sports commentators get this wrong.
Never run on a cinder track before? Good heavens! This younger generation! Seriously, lots of empirical evidence that there is less risk of injury on a decent cinder track than on a synthetic surface. Slightly more forgiving on the legs - which is why they are slower than synthetic tracks. On another note; what's wrong with doing the session on a good grass surface?
How the hell do you remember a session like that? Aidan was like he’d have to write it on his hand and run with a biro so he could cross them out as he went 😅
For some reason the shots taken whilst you were running gave a much better impression of the incredible speed you achieve than some earlier videos. Maybe the camera is closer, or maybe a different field of view?
Be comforted by fact you make running look easier than making smoothies 😂
This made me laugh, thank you 🤣
Hot weather running tip? "Don't do it" Love this Phily
На сердечко нагрузка!!
Sympathy thumb had me dying 😂🤣😂
IYKYK.
I’ve had kids shout at me too, it’s soooo annoying. I even got chased by a group of them once but they couldn’t catch me when I started my tempo 😂

Haha noted, I moan a little bit.. 😂
My one and only track running experience was at Braywick...fond memories of forever dusty shoes :)
Even though I'm not a runner, I look forward to your videos so much. You're a joy to watch Phily! Even when you're melting in the heat 😉😂
Keep it up with the great videos! You guys are fun to watch.
Old school with the cinder track, those were all we had way back when i was in high school. I hope you have the "heat" for your holiday!
Everyone loves a track pyramid session, they're always fucking brutal.
I really enjoyed this thanks for making these vids. All the B roll and music were great additions.

remember, heat training is "poor mans altitude training"...its good for you. so is running on a cinder track....like running on a beach.

I completely get the whole thing people shouting at you, I randomly get that too from kids who think they are being funny when their not!

Just channelling your East African vibes 💪🏽
You should check out Basingstoke track that isn't locked up at present anyway!

The track at Basingstoke Rugby club/Down Grange has just been resurfaced if you can't get to Bracknell (it's not locked up out of hours either).
👍 Super Video, weiter so Phily!
Cinder tracks are cool... I love the "shuffling" sound one's feet makes... and kinda takes me back to school days :D
Damn fine session that Phily...
Phenomenal workout. You must be El Niño effect with your oscillating speed.
Loved the heat complaints! You should try running in Alabama - feels like 30 degrees with humidity at 7am in the morning 😂
13:50 *K I T T Y !*
I miss my "Russian Blue" when you show yours.
Great video as always!
I see that after that 400m few weeks back, Daniel got himself in shape and is now able to keep up with you + holding the camera :D
Neat thing is he doesn't bounce up and down at all! ;)
@@liamroche1473 the camera has some tricks.
Shoutout to the beavertown brewery glass 🍻 (great sesh too!)
And I was just getting that this is the last day of winter down here on the other side of the world
Just highlights the lack of easily accessible sports facilities in the UK
Not just the UK. Here in the USA most tracks are locked up as well.
Sadly yes 🙃
Trust me, middle distances races are significantly easier than the actually training, and yes your fast. 🏃♀️
Hi Phily at Down Grange Track, In basingsotke its not locked up,suggest going there!
Thank you! That will be a good option next time 😄
I think you can check tracks beforehand on their websites. Bracknell AC has a website.
Running in that heat you’re mental….well done 😂
This is why I like running at 3am 😁

Looks like a nice trail track too..... just to make you work harder Phily
If you can afford it I highly recommend you get a Vitamix, they are awesome and to be honest you won't believe the taste (they are very expensive though).
Impressive....our only cinder track is pitted and slow AF like 10 or more seconds per mile. Plus the heat....I was in pain just watching
Running in the heat is not easy! Do you find that even a small change in temp causes a large change in effort?
Nice to see Moss End garden centre- we used to get our Christmas tree there 😂
Phily how do you setup your workouts do you set them up on your garmin or just run the distance and keep pausing it between reps?
Yeah. What's the deal with tracks always being locked up? In the US is the same because the tracks belong either to a High School or a University.
Do they not have the cinder track out back at AFD anymore? Or is the leisure centre on it now? Can’t remember it’s been a while 😆
I don’t think they do no!
Phily по программе Кенийцев тренит)))🤗👍
Need a sympathy thumb in every video from
Now on
😂 I’ll put a request in
Blender review vid please! Have the same one and it struggles...
Review: it’s sh!te 😂

Hello Phily
Afterwards chilled slice of water melon ....

I often genuinely use the biro written on hand method 😅

I know she got a new camera in the last video?
I think someone needs a nutribullet
I really do, NUTRIBULLET SPONSOR ME! 😂
У меня дома такой же рыжий засранец)))
Around 3:45, what is an eighty two?
That’s the number of seconds I’ll run one lap in
Looks hot 🥵Muchos respect on the brutality quotient.
Was your cat mad at you that you talked to another cat while you were out?
First comment 🙌, great video
