Another great game currently in Early Access is Gloomwood, an immersive sim inspired by the classic Thief games and a little bit of Resident Evil. I'm hoping it gets a full release sometime this year or maybe early 2025.
I highly reccomend checking out Archaelund , it just came out in early access and ive been following its development for years , the devs previous game Exiled Kingdom was excellent. Archaelund sort of works like a first person RPG in the style of Heroes of might and magic but with tactical combat once you get into combat. Its right up your alley
Witchstone is interesting: coming from a studio that previously made a pair of games focused on time loops, they certainly know something about non-linear narratives. (Not sure if Omensight is something you would cover for the channel, but it is worth taking a look at.) I remember seeing it when it was called Project Witchstone, so this is another one that had pandemic struggles.
I knew I recognized that name! It was nagging at me as he described the development process. I was looking into this game 'cause of the devs back when it was first announced, but it dropped off the face of the earth for years and I figured it wasn't coming out.
Stellar Tactics!! Turn-based, squad driven sci-fi CRPG with stats, perks, and a fully fledged real-time spaceship flight/combat system. All developed by one guy. His latest holiday update stated that he hopes to finish the final chapter of the game’s story and get a final polish/tuning pass late this year. HIGHLY recommended for Mortym and players who like these types of games!
I have been following you for some time, and you always seem level headed and relaxed, if you ever start streaming on UA-cam with streams like "just talking about games, and gaming stuff" make sure we are all informed, would like to listen to it like a podcaast :D
@@CaptainPerfect They've been posting weekly updates for years, communicating regularly in Discord, releasing major updates steadily and are actually quite close to release now. All the same the game is still a worthwhile experience even in Early Access state thanks to significant content, solid systems and good stability & polish.

Tainted Grail has been on my wishlist for a while to. Been keeing an eye on it, tho I havent engagde with it much at all. Only seen a few gameplay videos of it. Wont touch it before relase and maby a month or more after it comes out to. Same for Enshrouded :)
Tainted Grail is pretty cool, it just needs a lot of optimisation (DLSS would help!) as even with a 4090 I was getting massive FPS drops to the point I parked the game up until it is more finished.
Caves of Qud is finally coming out to full release this year, published by the Dwarf Fortress guys. It's one of those games that has been in early access for like a decade but has a pretty dedicated following if you enjoy those open world roguelike games with tons of build options.

Excellent list with everyone looking like a likely bringer of gaming joy. I have been playing TAINTED GRAIL since its very polished early access release. A dark and brooding game reminding me of The Elder Scrolls and MIGHT & MAGIC with a Simon Bisley HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE art style. Another great early access rpg coming out tomorrow on January 8th is ARCHAELUND which has the first person exploration of The Elder Scrolls and the top down turn based combat style of BALDUR'S GATE and WAR TALES etc. The visuals are fantastic and the game mechanics are rich with DnD type play. @@efabiano82 No, NOT normally a mobile games player, those guys just do fantastic work. There are many options in their Star Trader games and so much lore in so few games it's just amazing. Give them a shot, they're worth it.
Nice picks, will be interesting to see how (if?) they develop. Me, I'm staying away from Early Access. Even BG3 is something I regret buying during Early Access. I burned out on what was available during Early Access that after the initial hype I haven't really been able go forward (Currently pause for a few months in Chapter II). It's a good game, but I would've had a much better experience if I had waited for full release. Just wanted to add that there are reasons not to buy Early Access even if the game is solid, the company behind it trustworthy and it makes sense for it to be in Early Access. And it is my fault that it turned out that way for me (I have at least that much self awareness). BUT! I still like keeping my eyes out for new games and am thankful you are putting some on my radar.

You know, I do actually kinda like the idea of not having some big overarching quest. An adventuring party doesn't necessarily need a big bad to motivate them. Sometimes, the lure of rewards for questing is enough on it's own.
@@Ezullof that's a fair point though I imagine the lack of an over arching story would give dev teams more time and resources to expanding that quest loop.
There's an old 90s game called darklands that uses that as the start point. Eventually you will come across something that leads into the games main story questline, but you get to find it by just wandering around looking for fame and fortune
I have a particular affinity for RPG’s and strategy titles with turn based tactical combat, so Beast looks interesting to me. Splattercat previewed the alpha 3 months ago. The Ottoman Empire setting is unique and the visuals seem appropriately gritty. Looking forward to seeing how it develops. Aesthetically, Cyberknights is vaguely reminiscent of the Shadowrun games by Harebrained Schemes, which I liked, so I’m keeping an eye on that too.
Over the years I've bought many early access games but very often they implement a change that I grow to dislike and I get distracted by another game and never go back. While I understand early access helps the developer I now prefer to wait for the game to launch to keep the experience fresh. Balder's Gate 3 was a tough wait but I'm glad I did.
Tainted Grail surprised me. I think the devs stand a reasonable chance of pulling the game off, and the bones are incredibly solid and pretty darn fun in their current state.
Enshrouded is on my radar but Cyber Knights is news to me.. looks really interesting. Speaking of early access games.. Colin McComb's involvement with Broken Roads has me, in theory very excited, but as interesting as the philosophy system in the demo was, it's just like-- not fun to play???
Halls of Torment is still technically early access but it feels pretty amazing to play and is a whopping $5. Great vampire survivors style game with a diablo feel.

Cyber knights is insanely good. Its very challenging, the classes are fun, the character progression is great. But its very story based which reduces replayability. Further, and I really cant explain it (maybe really bad AI?) it just doesnt satisfy the xcom itch. Its pretty feature-complete now, so if youre interested its playable fully, but idk that I really recommend it. Everything about it is great and yet I dont have a lot of fun playing it. Idk
SpaceBourne 2, though not this channel's particular genre, is a great early access Space adventure game. It's janky, but it's also made by 1 person. I'm having fun with it
unforetold witchstone looks interesting and visible consequences are always a good thing enshrouded looks like gothic and i love crafting but when i hear "survival" it usually means annoying mechanics about satisfying character needs that instantly kills all enjoyment
There are quite a few interesting games in EA right which I'm following, hopefully at least some of them see full release this year (and turn out to be good). Notably: Stolen Realm, The Slormancer, Alaloth: Champions of The Four Kingdoms, The Black Grimoire: Cursebreaker, Ravenswatch, SpaceBourne 2 Inkbound, Xenonauts 2, Age of Reforging: The Freelands, Dreadhunter, Frozen Flame, Soulstone Survivors, Heroes of the Ashenwatch StarCrawlers: Chimera, Archaelund.
Another seemingly great game that’s going the Beta route rather than Early Access is “Once Human”. Lots of positive buzz despite the shadow of NetEase over it being their producer. Next Beta period will be around March, but Dragon’s Dogma 2 is likely going to eat all of that time up.
I hate early access games. I can't count the number of early access games I bought into and got burnt out on before full release and then lost interest in when they finally did release.
Disclamier: this is just my own personal opinion (just my thoughts), but why would I play a Baldur's Gate 3 "look alike" when I can just replay Baldur's Gate 3? Answer: I (personally) wouldn't. Indie poorer versions of BG3 are of zero interest to me. Again, just my own opinion. Good video though as I AM always on the watch out for something new that peaks my interest just not present in this case. Keep up the great videos!

"Beast: False Prophet" will get you to the game on Steam. Otherwise there are a lotta lotta "beasts" on Steam.

I love the Trese Brothers' games. Bought many of their phone games and I never buy those type of games but I'm already sold on Cyber Knights.
