Edgar Wright is always a masterclass of sweet camera work and great directing. Not to mention his famous editing skills. That's a man I wish I could talk with.
Love this unique song. I remember the the moment I heard this spring of 2002 I sat there thinking wow what did I just listen to? Went out and bought the single and the b-side ‘sail on sailor’ the beach boys song was that extra special gift on the cd.
My buddy and I were in visiting Glasgow and London when we competed in the Irish Dancing World's as teenagers. This video must've been number 1 on whatever music channel we had to find on every hotel room tv because we couldn't wait for it to come on. That was half my life ago. We still bring it up if we cross paths or catch up online.
Man they say an artist is only telling a one story and this video is the proof of it. This reminded me of the opening credits of Baby Driver and Edgar really learned alot of directing music videos that will help him conceive a shot later on his movies.
I've have a weird relationship with The Bluetones, I didn't hear of them at the time but this was one of the songs that was played at my 6th year high school prom in 2003...Such a fitting song for that occasion, but alas time passes and we grow older. Many years later I would overheard a person at my work talking about meeting them outside a pub in Glasgow and them acting like drunk arseholes refusing to give autographs and being arrogant. I only know Slight Returns and After Hours but they both make me smile and fondly remember high school.
well that was illuminating. You overheard something that maybe happened, know little of them and seemingly minimal interest or any way to construct a debate.
This song should be more recognized for it's brilliance
a criminally underrate and played song + video. Oozes dance and tap and just that feel good factor

Only after the second viewing that I realize that almost the whole video is done in one shot. I keep forgetting how awesome Edgar Wright is.
What a absolute classic
All done in one complete flawless take. Incredible! A brilliant video for one of my all time favourite tunes.

How have I not seen this before? Great video Edgar, great band. Looks like the good old Riverly ballroom, filmed there a few times cool place.
The very best music video ever made! And what a great band track. They’ve always been the soundtrack to my happiest memories
2024 still kicks ass!
I don't know why I love this video....maybe is the awesome footage
Perfect example of the best of English pop / rock. These guys were the business.
I would absolutely love if Edgar Wright did a full length Bugsy Malone remake.
This is such a great nod to that movie. One of my faves
This is a brilliant video. I was a bit shocked when the band walked in with the guns at the end...then they fired them lol!
You never seen Bugsy Malone?

well maybe not all day but you know what i mean
Almost a "Bugsy Malone" set up. Edgar Wright should make a gangster movie with an awesome song list.
I love this video, especially the girls expression at 3:33. XD
Awesome! I loooooove Bugsy Malone, so therefore I love this video.
WHOAH WHOAH WHOOOOAH!!!!!!
REminds me of a more Ambitious version of PT Anderson's video for "Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple...still very cool indeed!
Many Style Council
Stef is so small! lol and Ash! 😁
Wow, fantastic homage to bugsy malone :) (The video more than the song)
@sscott21adi he said 4 takes in an interview last year I was at, but not sure about the rehearsals, I'm sure many.
hi edgar, how many takes did it take and how long did it take to rehearse?
Duhduhduh...
What is it about Bugsy Malone British audiences loved so much?
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video....and I just realized............the kids get plastered at the end....................

this is very much inspired by Bugsy Malone :)
He’s look like Edgar Wright😂
Great video but the song is a bit bland IMHO. Not as good as their 90s stuff.
I love this! GENIUS DIRECTING!
