@@OLTAUTOMOTIVEYou're spot on. The whole car didn't feel as solid as the previous version. I got mine Sept 2019 one of the first and it really felt like they saved massively on costs or maybe to make it lighter? I can't stand that glossy plastic fingerprint magnet centre console divider.

If the air con does not work... You ask BMW to look at it. I presume it has a warranty. Something must be wrong with it, it is that simple. BMW do standard tests to ensure that the temp gets down to the required temp inside of a few minutes. So it must be broken. I see you have inner air circulation switched on.

Interesting video. Came here as my daughter is looking at these. Some constructive criticism. Your videos really should be rolled into one for each car - 5 things you love and 5 things you hate. If you want to keep them separate then I would try and keep them a lot shorter and avoid repetition. Looking back through your videos on the say the Golf you only have one with 5 things you love, I couldn't see a hate one. Cars really are a personal choice but some pointers on why BMW's are like they are and why they are unlikely to change based on your video. 1. Steering wheel - should be held at 10 and 2 (or 9and 3) it is proven to give better control and BMW provide thumb supports. If you've ever been involved in an accident where the drivers airbag deploys you'll appreciate when its recommended to hold in these positions. Holes to put your fingers through on steering wheels makes me shudder in the event the steering wheel is whipped to one side in an accident. 2. BMW doesn't really do flat bottomed steering wheels and the buttons are pretty standard on all models - they don't follow other brands. 3. Material have never been BMW's forte - they leave that to Audi for something that looks special. BMW is functional so all those pressy buttons will work for a long time - unlike your touch buttons in VW who have now switched back to pressy buttons lol. Your aircon just needs checking by BMW. It's over 2 years old and could have a leak or need re-gassing. Best to get it checked. Opening your windows counteracts the aircon making it even more useless than yours is. Climate control is meant to be set to an inside temperature and just leave the car do it automatically - ideally you shouldn't feel the fan blowing unless it's really hot inside and the car has work to do. 4. Start stop might just need a software update. I actually turn mine off whichever car I'm in be it a VW or BMW. You can code it out and it won't affect fuel consumption a great deal - more an emissions issue. 5. Plastics are not always great on BMW's and I doubt they will ever catch Audi unless you're looking at the higher spec models over £100k. Reverse camera is an option on these like pretty much everything nowadays. So make sure the cars you look at have all the options you need if buying used. Keep up the good work but I look forward to more concise and shorter videos.
I'm glad you found the video interesting and I appreciate the comments on how the videos could be in one or formatted, but ill be honest, they are put into two to maximise views and reach. As for the golf video, disappointingly I lost the footage of the other video and haven't been able to get my hands back on one since unfortunately. Thank you also for the point made about the BMW. My things aren't necessarily put out their for BMW to change, as I know its very unlikely anyone import there would ever see my video let alone take anything on board, but I put the videos out to give people an understanding of what they are in for, before buying the car, or things to consider when purchasing!
Plus climate control, don’t put the Max A/C, that’s almost all the time going through the windscreen because those are more powerful. And the “scratchy” material on the doors etc are most of the time appreciated by reviewers because it’s not typical plastic like golf’s etc, you’re the only one that’s saying that 😅 I mean everybody has its point of view but A/C for example that’s on you I think :/ But other than that nice video :)
Considering buying one but for an M sport I’m surprised no paddle shifters(auto box), no cooling glove box, no rear camera, rear seats feel a bit cramped, dash is ok, leather nice, plastics could be better, general looks I do like and nice to drive but considering VW Golf (which also not perfect) no backlight on dash buttons, front design could have been better, you still get quality but more for your money without having to pay for extra “options”, Mercedes A class looks good but headrests (front and rear) destroy your rear view, smaller boot, air vents look dated too, Audi interior has improved but general exterior looking dated even with a facelift. 16:37
I agree, no paddle shifters is surprising. I am not too fussed on a cooling glove box as its certainly not needed at all in the UK! No rear camera is not great at all in my opinion, for the price of the car and the competition it has. If I had to choose between this and a VW Golf, I personally think I would go for the Golf!
I’m looking for one right now but what I’ve noticed compared to the press reviews and the ones on sale ; none of them have reverse cameras. I find it surprising spending 30k + on a bmw that doesn’t even have reverse cams
Completely agree with you, there’s cars on the market for a third of the value of a BMW which come with rear view cameras as standard! It’s definitely something I think needs to be looked at by them, and it’s a must in most modern cars now
Well I love my 1 series. The iDrive 7.0 is great and yes I do have the Parking Assistant. I wish I’d had xDrive and the DCT gearbox is inferior to the torque converter auto. The is especially the case if you try driving and VW or Audi with their dual clutch gearboxes.
I do enjoy the drive of most of the BMW’s I’ve been in. Can’t compare it to VW as I’ve never driven one, but I would say it all depends on the model and spec when compared with Audi’s.
I agree the dashboard on the BMW is quite ugly. At one time keen on the Toyota GR Yaris but that dashboard is worse. Its difficult where the customer believes BMW provide luxury cars . . . and the manufacturer designs a low budget item.
Completely agree with you. I think Mercedes probably have the nicest interior out of the competition, but the quality can be lacking. VW also have a competitive interior in the new shape Golf
I prefer the wheel on my 2019 1 series and that gen of BMW's in general. It looks much more premium than the new design. I drove a base spec 118d when I was in for a service, and the quality feels like an overall downgrade on the interior. The new screens are nice though. The look of the new 1 series has definitely grown on me over time for the exterior. I do think they are price gouging the options. You really don't want a base spec one. I'd rather have a fully loaded fiesta over a base spec 1 series thats for sure. If I could have my old 1 series with the new screens/software, then I'd be a happy chappy!
New screens are quite nice, but I sill think BMW interiors have a long way to go in catching up to their competition. Exterior has definitely grown on me too! I don’t think any cars these days have a base spec model that’s worth it, you really need a good few options on them to get your desired car or to match what you believe you should get as standard in the modern day.
The only fault I have is when driving and you run over a cat's eye or markings on the road the car erratically trys to straighten the steering wheel which can be a little scaring is this the intellegence program
I imagine this is something you can probably turn off in the driver assistance settings? I haven’t looked, but on my Range Rover this is an option to disable. It’s a good safety feature, but I agree it can be frustrating sometimes, especially when switching lanes without indicating or coming off a slip road.
Thanks for the video. Don’t let the negative comments affect your work. Anyway, Keep posting, I’m going to check at the aircon in one of the 1 series we have in stock and let you know if it could be yours giving a problem and get back to yah but nice video.

Physical button on the steering wheel are the best. The interior is terrible, very outdated. The AC sounds like a technical issue with that specific car your in. No one really uses the start/ stop button these days lol so thats a none issue. Yeah BMW have taken a huge L with the plastic materials on the dash and below.
I think it’s personal preference on physical buttons for a steering wheel, I do enjoy some, but I think the modern look to the new Range Rovers and Mercedes suit the digital buttons. Interior though, can feel very outdated in BMW’s. The air con was 100% an issue with this specific car
Drove 2016 5 series and 2019 1 series and the steering wheel is disappointingly heavy and rigid on both models. I own citroen c5 aircross 2019 and the steering is super soft and fun and feels like rubbery and nice to grip - bmw leather wheel on 5 series felt sticky - its just the interior that got me hooked so bad tho
