Matt, Im 43 and have been fishing tournaments since I was 8 years old. Im stuck in the 80s and never wanted to try swimbaits and swimjigs. Even though I have been very successful tournament fishing, I can almost always try to pick up something I can use from your videos and usually learn alot more than a little on videos about swimjigs or swimbaits. With all the new electronjcs technology that I dont have, I need all the extra help I can get to stay competitive. Great video
Keep em coming man .. always a hidden tip in these videos…. Not a pro myself, but been at it for decades. Absolutely appreciate new stuff. Gets me outta the “know it all” mentally 😂

Just in time for my trip out! Got a swim jig with an old monster I bit in half for a trailer. 1/4 oz both black and blue. I'm gonna try the shake and sweep and fall over the rocks and laydowns at the bank spot tonight. Thanks for the pointers and I hope to snag a couple!
I’m glad I found this. I’m a newb and jigs are interesting and affective baits. I just don’t have a lot of confidence fishing them just because I wasn’t confident in how I was retrieving. This video has definitely helped me to learn a few different retrieves. Thank you Matt
Loving the retrieve videos! I've been bass fishing my whole life, but I'm always trying to learn to improve. One of the things that has frustrated me in my fishing education is when folks use imprecise terms to describe retrieves... I can't tell you how many times I've heard or read "just hop it on the bottom"... Hop it how often? How fast? How high? I'm LOVING that you are showing us in detail! Thanks brother, and tight lines!
That "Alabama Shake" deal can be applied to Smallies.... minus the swim jig. White tube with either 1/16 or 1/8 oz. tube head... the 1/16 allows the tube to breach the water surface easier.... a stronger wind condition calls for the 1/8 oz. Usually works in conjunction with a shallow jerkbait bite. Once the school goes stale on the jerkbait.... sling that white/silver tube at them doing the Alabama shake randomly breaching the waters surface..... you can usually get a couple more bites before moving on to the next pod. As always thanks for the vids and your time.
I am a riverbank fisherman here in Fredericton New Brunswick. I have used a white swim jigs with a white trailer without any luck. I tried different retrieve. We have two rivers here in Fredericton. The Saint John River is the main river and tidal water. The Nashwaak river flows into the Saint John River. Nashwaak has good current when the Saint John has a strong currents when the tide out

I really enjoyed the video, everything was described in detail. I learned a lot from the video,. Those were things I have never seen. I hope it works, I think the fish are laughing at me.
Looks like I need to go out and try the Alabama shake, same method I use when fishing a fluke without any weight don’t know why I’ve never tried it with a swim jig. Thanks for all your info.
Hey Matt, your right, the tube is very versatile. I use the retrieves you mentioned, but I also fish it like a jerkbait. I don’t have the opportunity to fish for small mouth but large mouth eat it up year round.
Have been thoroughly enjoying the retrieve series you have been doing lately. Went fishing this last weekend and went with the goal of trying different baits and techniques to get more experience on them instead of just falling back on the ones you know will always work. Started last weekend with a crank bait, and a new rod and reel setup I just got for crank baits, and imparted a couple of the different retrieve techniques you talked about for cranks as in the past I thought you just straight retrieved crank baits. I was astounded how well those retrieve techniques you shared worked, I had 3 fish in the boat in the first half hour of getting in the water with these techniques. So thank you again for sharing these simple but effective techniques, especially for us beginners that have just started getting back into fishing in my case. Have definitely helped me be a better and more successful angler in just the last 2 years.
Been waiting for this 1. I knew the 1st two. The 3rd one I like going to be giving that 1 a try next time I go swim jig fishing. Love to retrieve videos keep them coming
Next weekend, when it’s not 100 out, I’m going to take three rods with 3 baits and fish my spot with each of the tree retrieves. I better catch something or I’ll ask for the manager! Great video as always.
Amazing advice. I have a few jigs but don't have confidence fishing rhem. Will for sure as soon as spring begins here in South Africa. Thanks for a great video.
I won a tournament on Neely Henry back in early May using a white Dirty Jigs swim bait swimming it through the shore grass.. Used a Fat Impact as a trailer though.
I literally was fishing a swim jig Sunday. Got a bite but my hook set was terrible but water was super clear so I was able to watch the bite and Fight Keep it up Matt!
Thanks Matt. He series on retrieves is helpful. I’ve found, via Livescope, that using the Alabama shake whiling letting the swimming fall down the weed line edge is a killer slow and finesse retrieve. I’ve watched bass follow the bait and not hit it on a regular Alabama shake retrieve and throw back in and combine the shake with a controlled fall and the bass will destroy it.
Matt, thanks for the suggestions on retrieving a swim jig. I have been using either straight retrive or bouncing off of the bottom. My problem here on my home lake is there is very little vegatation, mostly hard bottom and rip rap. Thanks for showing me alternatives.
I have swimming senkos and that example you gave in the video (at the end) gave me an idea on now how to fish a swimming Senko now 👍🏻👍🏻 Do you have a swimming Senko technique video in your library? If not, can you please make one for the masses?

Thanks Matt. I very rarely catch bass on shad colored swimbaits. Green pumpkin or bluegill patterns I hold my own. Just received a tackle warehouse package today with spot remover skirts I am going to try. There are shad where I fish but what gives ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
We used to put a med rubber skirt on them and fish them in grass beds, real slow on the mats and let fall in the openings then twitch it a few times before retrieving, good luck

I’ve got to say the single most important part of a swimjig is the trailer. The trailer determines the depth and cover you fish in.
