I built my anim pakal around impact tremor type effects and extra combats, super fun commander. i was going to put winota in mine also but i only run about 10 humans
To be fair, it's really hard to find the balance. I mean, if you get the right amount of token generators then you can stock the deck up on humans to hit. Most of the ones I did put in mine were utility mostly so it works out in the end either way
I've played Winota as cEDH, and you should know, it does NOT trigger on creatures that "enter tapped and attacking." You get every gnome that was there before Anim's trigger, but none of the new ones.
I've been having a blast with Anim; very fun, very board-rampy token Commander. She's dirt cheap herself, even if some of her best support cards aren't. But, it's still not too bad to put together a rudimentary deck that focusses on her main gimmick. The only thing I'll say is, the one problem with Winota as support, since the gnomes come in already attacking, they don't actually trigger her effect when she comes in. because the gnomes don't "declare an attack", they simply come into play already attacking. So, if you go 2 mana-Artifact/other noncreature, 3 mana-Anim, 4 mana-Winota + attack with Anim, you still have to wait until your next turn to actually trigger Winota, since the only creature that will have declared an attack on the turn Winota comes out will have been Anim herself, who is of course human. This is avoidable in theory, if you have any creature on board before Anim comes out, which will allow you to get at least 1 gnome on the board before Winota comes out. But, this scenario also very likely means you haven't ramped in any way, except maybe a sol ring. Of course, if Winota stays on the board for even 1 more turn after this, she pays for herself with dividends. Is that absolutely going to happen for sure with 3 other players in the game? Maybe, depends how seriously they treat your threat. But yeah, in general, seems like a good build. Lot of focus on draw power and ramp, 2 things red-white sorely lacks, so it's good you've found basically every card that allows you to do that easily in red-white to put in this deck lol
Yeah, I misspoke in my deck tech saying that's how I thought it worked and you are absolutely correct! Thankfully, I haven't had but one instance of Winota Triggering and I ended up winning a game before combat was even over with! Good catch and thank you for commenting so everyone can learn something new if they didn't already know!

Yeah, playing the deck and being corrected helped make that very clear 😅😅😅 still a good card in the deck though.
