Lovely stuff Tom and Nick. I really enjoy this style of video, I hope you do some more race reviews like this. I also love that Ekiden version of the Alphafly and find myself wanting a pair very much indeed. Finally, congratulations on the incredible continuity at the beginning of the video. Other UA-cam channels should take note!
In that wind that time by nick was incredible I ran along the sea front where I live and into head wind I was over a min a km slower at max effort then my regular race pace
I've got the Ekiden edition like Tom's, lovely shoe to run in but my go to shoe for 5k and 10k is the Hoka Rocket X2, incredible running guys, well done!
Tried the Alphafly 1 this week after picking it up in the Nike Black Friday sale... 1.5km into my run I had to stop, the narrow arch had already caused a thick red line where it was rubbing and causing pain... such a shame as the shoe felt great, just WAY too narrow! And I'm a mid/forefoot striker 🥴
Try to change the insole: the novablast og one works very well. The original insole Is glued but you can pull It outside or you can put the new insole on the original one.
I had this exact issue. As said above , try a different midsole. I think my Hoka Mach 4 insoles are currently in mine. Definitely not the comfiest shoe still but fixed the unbearable pain and they really do work for racing.
Alphafly 1’s are THE BEST! I sent the v2s back because I hated them. I’ve bought a few pairs on Vinted and EBay because I’m scared I won’t be able to find them anymore.
Fully agree, love the AF1 but I hated the AF2, they ripped my achilles to shreds. I have one unused pair of the AF1s left, saving them till I get my fitness back.

Shame I missed you guys I had paid for Brighton 10k and Crowborough on the same days but opted for the hills and Ford of Crowborough over the wind😀

Easily my favorite marathon shoe to date.
Me too! Bring back the v1 I say!

I can't even do sprint repeats at the pace Nick runs a 10k 😂
Ahhh darn it, I missed you guys. I was there running my 1st ever 10k as well.
AF1 is still my race shoe of choice. Love the Ekiden edition.
