I can't wait. We'll you know I watched the whole video and the Polar Bear is my favorite animal. Up to the point you asked. Other than that to many. And yes my niece and I got lost in the Lost Forest. Trying to find the gorillas. Have an amazing spring break in Arizona. ☀️🌵😎
Thank you! We arrived today and went mini-golfing at James request. Tomorrow is LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Aquarium. Of course, all of it will make its way to the channel at some point over the next week.
Last comment, i swear…. My favorite animal is the giraffe and i was excited to see they have a paid feed the giraffe experience. I really hope to be able to do that someday 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Comment away! We love comments! James's favorite animal is the giraffe and he wanted to do it, but the line was pretty long. We told him we'd come back after Spring Break ends for him to feed the giraffes. It looked like loads of fun!
You said that as you enter you hit the Tiger trail. That could be misleading… it’s actually the monkey trail and trail to see the gorillas. Getting to the tigers can be confusing … it’s always best to ask a “ red shirt” = zoo volunteer. Your tour was excellentl …but I don’t know if you mentioned the Kangaroo Buss… hop on and hop off to save your feet. It goes mainly around the sunny side ( right side on your map). It takes you directly to Tiger Trail. Try the frozen bananas!! Thanks for mentioning the nachos.. haven’t tried them yet. Did you know the plant collection is worth more than the land the zoo is on plus all the animals? I know crazy!! Oh and the pollinator garden= carnivorous plants!! Also don’t forgot to talk to the volunteers at The Park as they can offer you fabulous information about the animals that you probably don’t know. Oh and every dollar you spend on snacks etc. goes toward making you an animal hero-- saving the animals!
Socal Disney Dad, thanks for all the tips and tricks at zoos across the country! It really helped me at the Pittsburgh Zoo! Keep making great videos! (I liked the green anaconda by the way!)
Gee I would come to the Base Camp only sometimes if I had toddlers and younger children… it is the most fun !! And incredibly educational place. Love love this part of the zoo… so much better than it was… although we miss the old children’s zoo. Teenagers will love it too but wish they were younger so that they could climb all day and get wet in the water features.
I would imagine it has to do with our limited space. San Diego is landlocked by water and mountains and in order to expand really anything anywhere in the county you have to destroy something that already exists. Other zoos we’ve visited like Omaha and Columbus have more space to work with.
It’s on the To Do List. We are at the Safari park today but don’t have time for a full tour. But sometime in the next two weeks I’ll make it up here again for a tour!
I miss going to the San Diego Zoo, since I've visited there 3 times way back. Yet, they opened up the new Wildlife Explorers Basecamp attraction, recently! Frolicking Siamraptor!🐧🐧🐧🐧
Great video. I haven't been but we do have annual passes to both and are looking forward to it. I really loved all the species of monkeys. How Long do you think to experience the whole zoo?
This video took me 5 hours to go through every inch of the zoo and I was pretty exhausted by the end. This was actually the first time I've ever gone through the ENTIRE zoo in a single visit, so you'll probably experience a "full day" after about 4 hours unless you're taking it a lot slower.
@@SoCalDisneyDad omg! That was a long time. Well I definitely want to experience the whole zoo and we have annual passes if we miss something. Thank you for always responding and giving us great content.
Sorry, one more question, about how long did it take you to do this whole walk through tour? I’m now realizing how huge the san diego zoo is, especially compared to our honolulu zoo 😅
This video took 5 hours to complete and I was exhausted by the end. During some portions we were just walking through and didn't stop to see much. So it could easily take longer if you are taking your time and determined to walk the whole thing. But you could also feel reasonably accomplished seeing 60-70% of the Zoo in about 3-4 hours without backtracking too much or trying to explore every inch of it.
I was mentally eliminating sections that our family would deem okay to skip to focus on different areas. In theory i would love to walk the whole thing but i think we will realistically need to prioritize what areas to visit for our first trip. Thank you for this video, it is so helpful!
I loved your video like always!! I just went yesterday to the zoo, and there is a new item on the menu of Safari Kitchen, its buffalo chicken fries, they were pretty good. Just wanted to let you know because I know you like to try the new things 😊 Hope you guys enjoy them if you try them! 😊👍🏼
Hello we are going on first week of October it would be our first time. How are the crowds during those times? how many hours do you spend on a first visit? Thank you so much and for all your videos they are very informational!
October is kids free month so it brings in more crowds than perhaps September or November but it should be less busy than Summer or Spring Break all the same. I usually recommend planning for around 5 hours. Maybe a little longer if you’re moving slowly. There’s really a lot to see and you could spend the whole day there if you had the stamina for it.
Doubtful. The zoo can take quite awhile to go through and most people spend a whole day at Seaworld if they want to see all the shows and ride all the rides.
Thanks for such thorough videos. We have an upcoming trip to California (probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for us) and have been watching and re-watching all of your videos for months. In this one, you featured the giraffe feeding, but at the 5:20 ish mark, in the background, I also notice people feeding rhinos. Do you have any information to share about how we can feed the rhinos?
They do have those available, but there are such specific times that if you're nowhere near when it's going on it's hard to catch, unless you specifically plan to be there when it's going on. It's rare to "happen" across it.
It's gonna be my first time coming to the zoo what would be the best time to go and how long does it take to finish the zoo in a day and is the safari park worth it
I always recommend arriving at park opening because it’s less crowded and easier to get a parking spot. I would plan for about 5 hours at either the Zoo or Safari Park. And definitely recommend the Safari Park. I’ll be putting out a video just like this for the Safari Park on Monday.
I know the Safari Park has them, but I’m not 100% on the Zoo. They are on the Zoo website. But that could just be because the Safari Park is part of the Zoo network.
Hotels for the Zoo are either in Mission Valley or Downtown San Diego. I'd personally avoid Downtown, but if you like the Downtown life and plan to stay a few days, it's actually a great option because of access to the Gaslamp Quarter and Seaport Village.
Not that I’m aware of. Though they haven’t removed the Panda signage. Just moved the Red Pandas into their exhibit. But there’s still a lot of Giant Panda signage. So maybe someday.
They are at the top, near the Zoo entrance. There’s a path directly across from the entrance that heads deeper into some trees. The orangutans are off to the right of that path. Near a coffee stand.
They actually do. Leopard sharks and penguins can cohabitate. At the tail end of this video by the San Diego Zoo you can see them swimming together: ua-cam.com/video/sHDTKE4hQXM/v-deo.htmlsi=DfxEDdNJ2IoxYLSm
This is the video everyone needs. So easy to get lost at the San Diego Zoo!
For sure! I still get lost in the Lost Forest. 😂
Awesome tour! My favorites were the Red Panda and Koala bear.
I love the koalas! And the red pandas are Amy’s favorite.

I kept forgetting to ask you, if you decide to do the bus tour, is there a place to leave your stroller or can you take it on the bus?
They have stroller parking just outside the bus loading area. There's a sign and a designated space for it. Great question!

Love the SD Zoo! Great video.
Thank you!
Thank you very much for posting this video!
You’re welcome
New to your channel and love these tours. Considering how world famous the San Diego Zoo is, I'm quite shocked by how small some of the exhibits are!

Other than your videos that is 😁
I love the details! Thx so much!

I have a question how many times does the animal poop
I love going to the zoos.😄 Zoo is favorite place besides going to the movies.😎👍👍

It’s such a beautiful new area! We love it.
Omg went there today , and I got lost. Had no idea where to go :/
It is a huge zoo. One of the biggest I’ve ever been to.
My favorite are always the reptile houses or enclosures. I’m bummed out cause my local zoo took down their reptile house and now they barely have any
The giraffe is my favorite & the red Pandas
Nice video! I just visited the 2nd best Zoo in the World , after San Diego Zoo which seems to be the 1st in the top 😀
For your next zoo tour, could you tour the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens in Palm Springs?

Let’s make a video this Saturday inside sea world 🙏🏽
Are there Aardvarks at the zoo? Sorry if I missed them in the video
OMG Tank you for doing the 8th wonder of the world!! roflmao I was there taking that picture and laughing hysterically!!
Always. 😂
I love this video. Can not pick a favorite animal to be honest.
If I were to ask my son, he’d say all of them. Well, he’d say giraffe first. And if I asked him for a second favorite he’d say all of them. 😂
I like the gharials down at the bottom of the reptile area. That's MY favorite ;)
Those are the funny alligator things? They are pretty neat! I can never remember the real names of these things. 😂
@@SoCalDisneyDad yup that’s them!
Brilliant tour video, hope to go one day Allegheny way from UK. Best animal so far is Harpy eagle. None in captivity in UK at all.
Thank you! The Harpy Eagle is definitely super special.

why is the bateleur eagle off exhibit?
I’m not sure, but he’s been gone for a fair amount of time. At least 4-6 weeks, possibly longer.
Do you think we able to do SeaWorld and zoo same day?
Doubtful. The zoo can take quite awhile to go through and most people spend a whole day at Seaworld if they want to see all the shows and ride all the rides.
Well done.
can we explore all of zoo area by walk?. or we need a scooter or something?.
You can absolutely walk the whole thing no problem. They do have ECV rentals if you need them though.
My Favorite Animal Is African Elephant!

Is the San deigo zoo still going to be like this

I haven't been to the San Diego zoo in so long
You should plan a visit! It's our favorite Zoo we've been to.

16:16 the King sleeping.🦁

my favorite animal i saw was the red panda!!
That's my wife's favorite too!

The Red Panda is Amy’s favorite as well! My favorite of the birds is the Secretary Bird.
Do they still have wombats at the zoo .
Not that I’m aware of? They have Tasmanian Devils, Koalas, and Kookaburras. Over at the Safari Park they have Kangaroos, Emus, and Platypuses.

My favorite animals at the zoo is the gerenuk
That’s always a fun one we like to look out for too!
Polar Bears, Elephants, Tigers, Red Pandas and Orangutans are the best animals
Is the parking free?
Yes, at the Zoo. No, at the Safari Park (they are 45 minutes away from each other).

For some mission valley suggestions, search for Hilton San Diego Mission Valley (for a nicer hotel) or Best Western Seven Seas (for a budget hotel)

Do they have lynx
Not that I recall.

Will the Giant Pandas someday return to the San Diego Zoo?

My favorite animal is whatever I am in front of.
My favorite was the green anaconda
By the way, I don’t really have a favorite animal. Love almost all of them. Not a fan of the insects & bugs though.

Red panda 🐼

I think that instead of saying “the regular Chinese Pandas” it would be more accurate to say “Giant Panda” because it can cause confusion.

the penguins do NOT jump into the same tanks as those sharks.
