Munich to Salzburg TRAIN

- A train ride from Munich to Salzburg. We spent the return journey in the buffet car and had a good chat to a German guy that was interested in Brexit. We told him that most sensible people in Blighty voted to remain in Europe but the single issue of fear of immigration got in the way of sense. Anyway, let politics not get in the way of a fun ride. Munich and Salzburg were both interesting places, especially just before Christmas and the train was fab!
Thanks for info and showing special features of the train. Thank you for posting! 😁👍
Thanks. Hope you are able to ride the train some day!
I visited Salzburg twice from Munich with my daughter (she lives in Munich). We purchased the "Bavarian ticket" and the total cost for us both (round trip) was 35 Euros.
I will take Munich to Salzburg journey this September. Thanks for nice video
Showkat Hossain have fun on the train!
Vidéo sympa à regarder !🤗🤗🇫🇷

I don't think for a minute that these ticket machines were easy to use.
Last November (2018) I did exactly the same journey. I wanted to get the ÖBB service, so didn't think to use the DB ticket machine. However, the blue/yellow ticket machine (Meridian services, I think), DID have the ÖBB logo on it, so I bought a ticket from Munich to Salzburg from that machine, only to find out that it wasn't valid on the ÖBB train.
On my same holiday, stopping 2 nights in each place, I took trains travelling:
Salzburg -> Graz
Graz -> Vienna
Vienna -> Bratislava
Bratislava -> Budapest
[ Then flew to Bucharest ]
Bucharest -> Constanta
Good info thanks
You should have travelled by ÖBB Railjet, you'd have had a much better experience. No private cabins, though. Anyway, ÖBB Eurocity trains are hopelessly outdated.
Thanks I'd like to try a railjet sometime 👍👍
disagree the old EC cars have much nicer reclinable seats and private compartments the only disadvantage i can thik of is the lack of wifi
I have to go from Munich to Salzburg next month. I want to know if I have to change trains at some point along the way? thanks!
We took a direct train. We didn't have to change. Have fun!
Nice video 👌🏽 did you have to show your passport once you arrive in Salzburg? Heading to Munich next month and thinking about visiting Salzburg as well. Thank you 🙏🏽
no they wont check...and no need to show it
Thanks for the vid! Did you buy your tix online or at the station? I cant seem to find online train tickets from salzburg to munich thats as fast.
German Wijaya i think we bought ours at the station. There's more info here www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Salzburg.htm have fun!
How much for return ticket?? Loved the music btw =)
Thanks. It cost us about 30 Euros on the day but it could be done for less in advance.
i bought munich to austria for 13 one way
How much for 1st class and how long a ride? Name of the train.?
I travelled economy, sorry!
Hi. Am I suppose to buy the ticket from Munich to Salzburg prior arriving or we could just purchase it there? We are just worried just in case our flight from paris will get delayed and we would miss our train if we booked an early one.
Yes it's easy to buy on the day at the station. The machines are easy to use. Have fun!
Paul Rushworth thank you for the quick response. How much is the cost for a ticket at the machine? We are 4 adults with one 2 year old infant, does she need a ticket too?
Also, I've heard of this Bayern ticket. Is it better to buy the bayern ticket? Or just stick to the normal ticket?
I don't know about the Bayern ticket. Our tickets cost about 25 euro each for returns easily bought from the machines. The food in the buffet car was good. I doubt you will have to pay for a two year old. This man's website is excellent and has all the further information www.seat61.com/international-trains/trains-from-Munich.htm
Paul Rushworth oh. €25 sounds good for a return ticket. Thank you for the link too. 😊 well appreciated
You should definitely choose the Bayern Ticket! Notice that you can only use short distance trains and not the long distance trains as the one shown in the video.
The short distance trains driving at relation Munich-Salzburg are from Meridian.
Thanks for your comment. I don't remember our passports being checked but I think its a good ifea to take it with you just in case! Have fun both great cities!
Paul Rushworth, You must always have your passport with you in Germany and Austria and be able to show it if asked to do so.
How long was the trip?
About 3 hours. Have fun!
@@rushirushworth 3 hours?
usually it is like 1 1/2
Nice video. Good background music too? Any idea what track it is?
Hans Raulet Karkada than you. The track is ua-cam.com/video/BRLsnrMxvLU/v-deo.html Tyroler Festival 3.
Paul Rushworth Thank you for your response.

Nice Video, but the music is annoying. ;-)
the music is fantastic
Fun video, thank you for posting it. But...yes...distracting, annoying, cliched music. Natural sound would make it more real; would the viewer in the moment and make if more lifelike
No passport checks?
I do not remember passport checks.
