Good convo :) I learned that surrender or letting go cannot be forced and can't happen as a result of the thinking mind. Mindfulness meditaiton and silence are great practices for surrender, from my experience. I used books like "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels and "Awareness" by Anthony de Mello to detach from expectation, demands, and preconditioned thoughts.
I really enjoyed this conversation. A lot of great insight and points were made. I particularly like when old things that were excepted as truth are questioned, such as the five languages of love, here, being stated, as the five languages of fear. So many things have been turned on their heads. I hope you guys have another conversation again. 🐸
This was really great. There were so many aspects of the conversation that I felt dovetailed with your MBRX program but also caused me to pause and re-examine my thoughts, especially towards suicidal ideation. Definitely need to replay and read the transcript. Thank you both.
I do not understand this concept of loving the thing that tortures you. I have suffered from anxiety and chronic pain for years. How do I love that, or release it? I understand that my true self is more than these things, but I AM living in this body. Is there a way to live that is more than just enduring. How is my question? How does one begin to do that?
I can appreciate the descriptions of the mechanisms at work, but it would be more helpful if you gave the viewers the means to disengage that which causes the symptoms. What should we DO? GIve us mantras, sayings, actions, that will begin the process to halt the damage. Other than acceptance and surrender, what more can be done to "metabolize this old trauma"?
Dr Russ, your sharing is super great and inspiring and effective❤ I’m suffering from anxiety disorder and depression and ocd for 15 years with psychiatrist and medication but no improvement at all. I spent 80% of my time with thinking thinking and rumination that I can barely do anything including showering and eating. Dr Russ, can you share with me how to handle depression too coz I was so depressed with no life meaning each day that I basically don’t do anything at all and I felt so regretful that I was wasting my life on the other hand!! Please help
I think when talking about tears and crying and their effect on the brain you need to credit Patty Wipfler. She did and is doing the groundbreaking work on this, since the 1970's. I know Gordon has learned about this from her, as have other great psychologists like Dr Laura Markham and Dr Larry Cohen, who were trained by Patty as well. Otherwise, it's wonderful to be hearing you say that thinking can help but it can't heal, that has to be done in the body and by feeling it.
I found this discussion a bit too "rapid-fire". It was as if two "insiders' were exchanging ideas they both knew already, but were beyond the current understanding of the audience. I kept listening for the explanation of 'surrender ', but did not get that either. Slow down gentlemen, please.
I cannot tell you how much this changed my morning. You speak soon genuinely and from experience and give me faith that I will be ok

Dr.Rusty ...... i just love you...and your work
Yes! All of this ❤
How do you heal at a somatic level? I hear you Dr. Kennedy - but how do you reprogram the body/feel the body/retrain the body?
You have to do this, too?
Yes this is what I want to know too.

Kyle!!!
Don‘t like him, in my eyes he is just another esoteric and money fixated scharlatan. Not a good combo 👎
My Guru tuned me into your show. I'm spreading the Russell Butter as fast as I can ("the word", of course)
