***** You obviously don't Tumblr enough to get this. Its more the band MEMBERS then the actual band, cause you cannot tell me Gerard Way isn't emo. He even said he was himself. I just think you're not understanding the concept of MCR.
I don't understand why people can't just let people listen to the music they like without being all judgmental and hateful. It's really sad, depressing, and disappointing looking at the world we live in today.
Erm? Black Veil Brides, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, (maybe Fall Out Boy)... And the obvious one......................................................................................................MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although I LOVE Asking Alexandria. But I guess it is your opinion, so I shouldn't judge. Sorry about that sudden outburst of anger. It happens sometimes.
Drake Le I know, but Gerard makes jokes about it a lot. If you were going to stereotype then mcr are the main emo band. I, just like Gerard, don't really agree with the labels such as emo, but sometimes I just go along with it :)
Okay my top 10 bands 10. Fall out boy 9.nirvana 8. Black veil brides 7. Sleeping with sirens 6. Greenday 5. Pierce the veil 4. Panic! At the disco 3. All time low 2. Falling in reverse 1. My chemical romance

Motionless In White isn't an Emo band. Tokio Hotel isn't Emo. Chiodos isn't Emo. The Autumn Offering isn't Emo. Abandon All Ships isn't Emo. Ok I won't be naming all those bands. NONE of them are Emo, lol. If you want Emo bands, listen to Pianos Become The Teeth, Old Gray, etc. Most of the bands in this video are Metalcore or Post-Hardcore. And Nevershoutnever is Indie Rock, lol.
Calling those bands metalcore or post-hardcore is same as calling them emo, they are neither. Emo is not the only misunderstood genre. Nevershoutnever is pop. If you want emo bands watch video called "Evolution of Emo (1985 - 2012)" and my video "This Is Emo".
Outo Maa No Outo. You are wrong. Raddy is right. NONE of these bands are genuinely considered to be "Emo" based on their musical characteristics. Most of these bands are considered to be either Post-Hardcore, Metalcore, Punk Rock (AFI) and Alternative/Indie(NeverShoutNever). These are all definite and established genres of music. Emo is a misunderstood genre all together. Emo was an established genre of music to describe bands emerging from the early to mid 90s. Some of the bands include "Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, At The Drive In, The Get Up Kids, The Promise Ring and Jawbreaker" to name a few. The music was generally somber and aggressive while the lyrics were generally introspective and sincere. Now, the confusion came during the early 2000s when the 2nd wave of Pop Punk was emerging. Bands like Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, My Chemical Romance and more were much more refined take of the 90s heroes. Suddenly the entirety of what "Emo" represented was turned upside-down and eventually turned into its own lifestyle of what we now know today. A lot of 2nd wave Pop Punk bands (Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Sugarcult, Panic At The Disco, Yellowcard etc) were often mistaken and mislabeled to be "Emo" when their musical characteristics of the music they wrote did not reflect the music of that of the 90s bands in which Emo was based around. In short, the genre known as Emo has been dead since the late 90s and people often mislabel bands because they don't know the history of the genre, or are just ignorant of genres in general.
***** Post-Hardcore (Post-Hardcore Punk Rock) and Metalcore (Metallic Hardcore Punk Rock) are subgenres of Hardcore Punk Rock. The bands in the video have nothing to do with hardcore punk rock. AFI is pop rock. Emo (Emotive Hardcore Punk Rock) is also subgenre of Hardcore Punk Rock and bands like Mineral etc. also have nothing to do with hardcore. Those "2nd wave" bands were pop rock, not pop punk. I suggest you watch "Evolution of Emo (1985 - 2012)" and "Music" made by sv3rige but that's if you actually want to learn. Edit: Also watch video called "Evolution of Post-Hardcore (1983 - 2013)"
0:07 I'm glad I found this video many months ago. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be listening to some of my most favorite songs ever. Motionless in White is now my favorite band, and ahhhh thank you 💓
Why aren't there Escape the fate in the list?!?! the first song that's heard in this video is from "this war is ours" why did he put this song in if he didnt even put this band in the list? Escape the fate is my favorite band.
Ik but that's just kind of where everyone places them because of stereotypes and shit. A lot of sites place the genre as "punk rock" or "emo-core" so I just kind of got used to people being like "They're emo" and they're part of the trinity so idk
Lauren Barakat But thats not right; ppl really need to get their definitions straight and quit tangling them up. Its just like that experament where they whisper a sentance down a line of ppl and end up with a totally different sentence. And next thing you know its going to be done to too many words and harder to unscramble. Did you know the word platonic doesnt mean "only friends"? Its original meaning was a sexual relationship that had sex on the bottom of the list of expectations of the relationship; that they highly valued each other more than the sex they would have.
I don't get the whole need to put a label on everything. Why? What is the fucking point and who really cares? I couldn't give a hairy rat's ass if its metalcore, screamo, emo, muppetfreakcore, blah. If it's music I like, then it goes in one genre - fucking asstastic music that Nicki loves - which is the BEST genre ever btw. People just need to get over themselves, shut up, and listen to the fucking music.
I love most of these bands!! I totally agree that Falling in Reverse is the best out of all of them!! You have very good choice in music for the most part.
well, i think emo music has been kidna stereotyped. perosnally i think it should be called post hardcore, emotional metal, hardcore, atlernative popcorn, and so on. but it gets stuck with the same name that the people that listen to it get. oh well.. what kind of music do u listen to?
you listen to more punk music and rock. which a lot of people who consider themselves emos listen to. so dont count yourself out. everyone has diffrent tastes in music. and personally, u have a pretty good one. :)
my top emo bans: 1- Get Scared 2-Famous Last Words 3-Escape the fate 4-Asking Alexandria 5-Bring me the horizon 6-Falling in reverse 7-Black Veil brides 8-blessthefall 9-Follow my lead 10- my chemical romance.
This is the anthem of posers and 15 year old try-hards that believe emo songs are made up by metalcore riffs, synth vocals and shitty screams lol. I miss those times with real emo bands :(
Amanda Westenberg The Get up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Northstar, etc... Bands whose music actually means something more than just trying to sound depressed and poetic and for some reason screaming which I never understood
MeltingBlowfish The Get Up Kids and Sunny Day Real Estate are indie pop/rock bands, not even related emo. Fugazi is post-hardcore. Watch video called Evolution of Emo (1985 - 2012) or my video called This Is Emo if you want to understand what emo is. Emo = Emotive Hardcore Punk Rock
Black Veil Brides is basically everyones first emo band now days along with My Chemical Romance which are not on this list...but sinse you included the /Metalcore at the begining i will tell you Bring Me the Horizon is a badass Metalcore band, well used to be but its still awesome
+Diego Ramirez guys my chemical romance isnt a emo band because in a interview they asked gerard whats you fave thing about being in a emo band and he said im not in one
I only now.... 1. Motionless in white 2.asking Alexandria 3.never shout never!!!! 4.falling in reverce Dude Falling in reverce is amazing but I like the other ones above Especially neverShoutNever
Black veil brides yes for an "emo" type band but blood on the dance floor isn't considered "emo" it's more of a scene band but it also just depends on what people like so you can't really categorize them.
theangryemonerd we're not talking about that emo. We're talking about I'm gonna slice my wrists 2000s emo. Not sunny day real estate or rites of spring
Arthur Read emo has had stuff to do with slicing your wrists. A band like Hawthorne heights has sang about slicing wrists in a song like Ohio is for lovers. And the used talked about it in a song like I'm a fake. Don't call me ignorant, you're ignorant for saying that emo has nothing to do with self harm when emo bands, yes they are emo bands, they have emotional lyrics, have talked about it plenty of times in their songs. You really need to do your research.
Arthur Read emotive hardcore punk rock? Maybe when emo was started but it's changed a lot. Frankly I'm sick of this emo music or whatever the hell it is at the moment but I call it that because that's as close as we have at the moment.
what? people are confusing me theres a differance between metalcore, screamo and emo metalcore: asking alexandria miss may i devil wears prada we came as romans screamo: saosin post hardcore: escape the fate pierce the veil death core: suicide silence not everthings emo LOL
Rites of Spring? Indian Summer? I Hate Myself? Moss Icon? Embrace? Sunny day Real Estate? Jimmy Eat World? Cap'n Jazz? Christie Front Drive? The Promise Ring? Mineral? Jawbreaker? Texas is the Reason? The Get Up Kids?
Tbh this list is awful. I was shown this by a friend of a friend who is a complete wannabe. Sadly, most "Emo's" today are either wannabes or posers. PTV isn't Emo, SWS isn't Emo, BVB DEFINITELY isn't Emo, BMTH are sellouts who at one point released awesome music (Mainly Suicide Season, "It was written in blood" is their best song imo. But it was Metalcore, not Emo) MIW is Gothic Metal, FIR is a weird offspring of Pop Punk and Glam Rock (Yes, Glam) and lastly TØP... No, just no... Mainstream Rap Rock is the furthest you can get from Emo. Anyway, I'll create my own Top Ten list that'll surely get bashed by fans of the bands above (Btw I don't have a major problem with those bands. I just hate it when people call them Emo) My list: (Highest first) 1: Hawthorne Heights 2: My Chemical Romance (Bullets, Three Cheers, Most of Black Parade) 3: Dashboard Confessional 4: Taking Back Sunday 5: Matchbook Romance 6: Scary Kids Scaring Kids 7: Silverstein 8: Senses Fail 9: The Used 10: From First to Last
+MyNameIsSkyler you are a mallcore just like the person who made this list. every band you listed is in the same pop toned wanna be emo bands. you mentioned about bands that are sellouts. each band you have on your pop rock list are a bunch of sellouts. emo is a DIY idea only that does not exists your precious hot topic/warped tour bullshit. your list are bands that are popped toned to a level in which you are told by these bands and shitty major labels that "this is emo" emo is emotive hardcore. open 0 striking riffs, lots of screaming, and bands that run in DIY non profit labels. Emo and scream has been a thing since the late 80's/early 90's that slowly represented other great emo bands of today such that are in DIY acts only. you obviously have no clue since your list is the same garbage as this list. I've strictly have made a list of these real emo bands in the past in 3 separate videos I just find it so hard to understand that now with the internet and researching we still have these 2007 mallcore posers claiming the wrong side of the genre. it even makes me look bad. all pop rock "emo" from the media has to die. even my chemical romance has stated "we are not a emo band" once they discovered what real emo is. Do yourself a favor and just research this emo off lastfm or even from someone like myself I wouldn't mind showing someone real emo.

Yeah, I guess. I know that Rites of Spring and Embrace ran the mid 80's movement. "Screamo" became a thing in the early 90's with bands like Pg.99. Emo embraced a more indie style in the 90's with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World. That's the ROOTS of emo. Just like rock, metal and punk, emo music evolved over the years. Oh, I'm mallcore? That's funny. Now excuse me while Ilisten to some Saosin.

Yeah, and Tokio Hotel is more like pop-rock and alternative rock
Love Falling in Reverse!!

I'm glad I found this video many months ago. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be listening to some of my most favorite songs ever. Motionless in White is now my favorite band, and ahhhh thank you 💓
Why aren't there Escape the fate in the list?!?!
the first song that's heard in this video is from "this war is ours"
why did he put this song in if he didnt even put this band in the list?
Escape the fate is my favorite band.
I screamed when they said Asking Alexandria
And where is BLACK VEIL BRIDES??!!! :O :O :D :3
Did not see BRING ME THE HORIZON, PIERCE THE VEIL, ect but thank you for putting FALLING IN REVERSE
i like your music taste :))
Alyssa Diaz I was like, "The fuck? Where's My Chemical Romance?!"
Hopeless Killjoy Gerard Way stated that they're not emo, but okay..
Ik but that's just kind of where everyone places them because of stereotypes and shit. A lot of sites place the genre as "punk rock" or "emo-core" so I just kind of got used to people being like "They're emo" and they're part of the trinity so idk
Alyssa Diaz None of them are Emo.
Out of curiosity, what are your favorite songs? Trying to broaden by music tastes a bit
Oh gosh! When you said Falling In Reverse It made my day! 2nd FAVE BAND EVER!!!my 1st Is Black Veil Brides!! BVB YOU RULE!!!!
how is Christofer's music Emo?!
The only reason i clicked on this video was to wonder how he was going to justify that:)
Lauren Barakat ok, but being something doesnt make the music you listen to of the same thing
THESE PEOPLE GET ME, WHERES MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE😍?
A skylit drive
Sleeping with sirens
PARAMORE
Pierce the veil
Black veil brides
never shout never

WHERES MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE?!?!?FALLOUT BOY...PANIC!AT THE DISCO...EMO TRINITY DUDE!!
No no no no no fall out boy is not emo its mainstream lmao
+XiiLe early fall out boy is more punk/alternative rock/pop-punk but in some ways it is emo.
+BlackBridesGAminG you've only heard fob's new stuff then. All their early albums are mixtures of pop-punk/alternative rock/emo/punk.
+BlackBridesGAminG "Emo" is basically alternative rock/pop punk/punk rock
we need the emo Trinity i agree!!! P!ATD, FOB, MCR
Black Viel Brides? :s
Maria Jose Lopez Black Viel Brides no es emo, al igual que las bandas que menciono
Ehh.. creo que no hay bandas emo :s
Las bandas emos y screamo murieron en los 2000s.:v
Porque? :s
+Maria Jose Lopez no
I AM SO CONFUSED I THOUGHT I LISTENED TO "emo" MUSIC ?!?!?!?!?!?!i guess not and my music interest are back to being unknown
well, i think emo music has been kidna stereotyped. perosnally i think it should be called post hardcore, emotional metal, hardcore, atlernative popcorn, and so on. but it gets stuck with the same name that the people that listen to it get. oh well.. what kind of music do u listen to?
Katie Easlet Three days grace greenday linkin park my chemical romancefit for rivals get scared scary kids scaring kids
you listen to more punk music and rock. which a lot of people who consider themselves emos listen to. so dont count yourself out. everyone has diffrent tastes in music. and personally, u have a pretty good one. :)
Katie Easlet ikr lol Ok thanks
Kat Easley you are kinda wrong and right at the same time lol :p

Falling in revers and asking Alexander 💀
This is the anthem of posers and 15 year old try-hards that believe emo songs are made up by metalcore riffs, synth vocals and shitty screams lol.
I miss those times with real emo bands :(
And who would those "real emo bands" be? Care to share?
Amanda Westenberg The Get up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Northstar, etc... Bands whose music actually means something more than just trying to sound depressed and poetic and for some reason screaming which I never understood
Oh bro! You should have not shared those awesome bands in such a vapid video, now posers will become stronger.
Anyways nice suggestions.
Emo = Emotive Hardcore Punk Rock
...
Yes falling in reverse woo hoo... U forgot bvb
I'm really tired of seeing shit comments like these, THEYRE FUCKING ROCK
EVEN ANDY SAID THAT YOU TWATS
They aren't that good dude
I thought "emo" was bands like Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Thursday, but I guess not.
what was the name of the intro song? had a cool guitar solo
escape the fate this war is ours
Black Veil Brides is basically everyones first emo band now days along with My Chemical Romance which are not on this list...but sinse you included the /Metalcore at the begining i will tell you Bring Me the Horizon is a badass Metalcore band, well used to be but its still awesome
+Diego Ramirez guys my chemical romance isnt a emo band because in a interview they asked gerard whats you fave thing about being in a emo band and he said im not in one
Well his fan base says otherwise, in my opinion, bands are defined by their fans
@@phanicattheparamore5834 the lead singer out of sister of mercy doesn't consider his music goth but yet it is technically.
where is bring me the horizon, Black Veil Brides, pierce the veil, bullet for my Valentine, my chemical romance?????
this was unaccurate
finally someone atleast brings up bullet for my valentine its like they're unnoticed but thank you
Np lol
Don't worry about it. This is just a list of scene bands anyway. The person who made this wrong! So don't worry about it. 😁😆😊
Yerp
Scene or Metalcore.
Wheres the Black Veil Brides?
Mrs. Biersack Black Viel Brides no es emo, al igual que las bandas que menciono
+Emo Pride I was asking the same question. D:
I totally agree for the #1 !!! Falling In Reverse is the best!!!
I only now....
1. Motionless in white
2.asking Alexandria
3.never shout never!!!!
4.falling in reverce
Dude Falling in reverce is amazing but I like the other ones above
Especially neverShoutNever
What about Black Veil Brides ?? What about Blood on the dance floor ???
Black veil brides yes for an "emo" type band but blood on the dance floor isn't considered "emo" it's more of a scene band but it also just depends on what people like so you can't really categorize them.
dude where are the pioneers? Hawthorne Heights? The Used? Saosin? come on. this list is a fucking joke.
Pioneers of emo is Rites of spring. then we got evergreen in the 90's please do your research on emo. emo and screamo began in the late 80's
theangryemonerd we're not talking about that emo. We're talking about I'm gonna slice my wrists 2000s emo. Not sunny day real estate or rites of spring
Marco Martinez what do you want? You already said that. If you have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation then go do something else junior
Never shout never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
No SDRE? or Cap'n Jazz? I assume this isn't Really based on emo, since some was more metalcore
I second this
What was that song by August Burns Red

Thank you c:

This playlist was drunk :p Great bands, just wrong genre for most.
Where the fuck is Smash Mouth?
666 Pathological_Metalhead 666 i lost it
Tbh this list is awful.
I just hate it when people call them Emo)
My list: (Highest first)
1: Hawthorne Heights
2: My Chemical Romance (Bullets, Three Cheers, Most of Black Parade)
3: Dashboard Confessional
4: Taking Back Sunday
5: Matchbook Romance
6: Scary Kids Scaring Kids
7: Silverstein
8: Senses Fail
9: The Used
10: From First to Last
even your list contains fake emo. you are no better than this shitty ass video
Care to expand, possible purist?

I think you all need a refresher on what Emo music really is. Go listen to Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Finch, Thursday, or From Autumn To Ashes.
Thought I'd throw in that I have nothing against any of these bands and I like a few of them, but they just aren't emo.
guys this was just his personal preference on music, it was what he grouped everything under. genres are really fucking confusing sometimes so does it really matter what he listed the songs under? i think not.
