Posture & the Grizzly, The Cardboard Swords, Grandview, The Hotelier, Sports., Micheal Cera Palin, I'm Glad it's You, Snowing, Mcafferty, Arrows In Her, Panucci's Pizza, Bad Luck, Etc. I can keep going for a while.
@Neeshy Kamau I know! I was going to go, but I didn't have the money at the time :( It's okay though, they're locals and I still see them once and a while at shows and talk to them.
Its sad that some of the more unkown of 'secret' emo bands are the ones most instrumental in the revival as a whole with bands like Midwest Pen Pals and Merchant Ships being highly influential in that 2008-2010 period, along with Empire! Empire! and the CYLS label
Damn Nate you really are the MATE. out here name dropping. Also Dikembe is still a band, they just came through Philly a few months ago, so is Prawn is also still a band.
I about wet my damn pants when you brought up Everyone Everywhere, their 2012 self titled (that I also just commented about on your other video) was the soundtrack to my life for a long time and stays nostalgic for me all the time, and it's just my favorite album. Hardly anyone I talk to knows them, and it's hard as shit to get people to listen to them. Made me so happy you brought them up. All the other bands here are also badass too, though. It broke my heart when I first heard about twiabp's vocalist.
Also I just have to throw out there how The Hotelier, albeit an adored band of the genre, does not get nearly enough props for their Goodness record. It's probably second in command right next to Everyone Everywhere's 2012 for me. Home, Like No Place There Is is awesome and deserves all the attention it got, but Goodness is a gorgeous album from front to back, and it felt like for some reason they fell back into the underground after it dropped.
Hey, uh hey Nate. Did you ever listen to Algernon Cadwallader? Spit Fountain by them came on randomly and dunno what it is man I just dug it alot dude. Highly recommend and would like to hear your opinion. If this is a repeat question my bad I didn't read all the comments.
You were correct that the last band "The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die" is one that I "might know" out of all these you listed. I'll check out the album "Whenever If Ever," heard of it first through watching "A Midwest Emo Mix Tape" or "Midwest Emo Tape" or other similar compilations. Thank you.
Lead Hands. One of Keith Jones' bands. They did one album, up. Nothing else Keith Jones has worked on is emo, but it all worth checking out if you can find it, but Lead Hands is post hardcore emo. (Previously "Decoder", go sued, changed name, broke up.
Nate the Mate, you are amazing! Thank you for this video. You ever ever listen to the band Pile? Oh and i like your background music. Could you tell me who that is? Keep the videos coming.
Dang, I'm surprised to say I'm a fan of all the bands you listed. It's hard to find people that listen to these kinda bands. If I'm to say I like emo music, people just assume I mean stuff like MCR and the story so far which I'm nooot very fond of
You should listen to nothing but thieves they have some bangers there new ep is a masterpiece some of there songs are slow and emotional but there a bop.
I’ve been looking for this one band forever. I listened to them everyday when I was a kid. But i can’t find them anywhereeeee 😭 if anyone can help. I think they only post on UA-cam. And it’s a four person band. I have a vivid memory of the main singer having really short hair. It was just very calming sad songs and I miss them so much.
can you get any more precise? how exactly did the music sound like? do they have albums or just a few singles? what instruments do they use? how did the main singers voice sound? i know a lot of underground/diy bands so maybe i could help you out ^^
Everyone should know Prawn and you failed to mention any of the projects that stemmed off Merchant Ships... or even Merchant Ships this list is officially doodoo.
Where my notification mates @ !?
First thing I watch after working.
Wes Papes stop it :’) ily
Nate The Mate Imagine talking about Dikembe and not mentioning Scottie Spliffin from their EP Chicago Bowls.

Its sad that some of the more unkown of 'secret' emo bands are the ones most instrumental in the revival as a whole with bands like Midwest Pen Pals and Merchant Ships being highly influential in that 2008-2010 period, along with Empire! Empire! and the CYLS label

One of my favorite albums of all time. Criminally underrated band.
