    I bought a restored DP 47F last year after watching Techmoan's video, it has all the features I was looking for. I have it connected to a Denon receiver but was surprised to learn I had to purchase a step-up transformer because I have a moving coil cartridge and the phono inputs on new Denon receivers are only compatible with moving magnet cartridges. It was an unexpected expense after already spending a good bit of money on the turntable and the cartridge but it was worth it, it sounds great.

      You can purchase modern high output Moving Coil cartridges that can be plugged into Moving Magnet inputs. A good example of that is the cartridge in this video - Denon DL-110.

      Would advise how to adjust side force, I got the last song distortion problem. Appreciated.

    I have this tt in black and love it. One nice feature is that the bevel on the front of the dustcover becomes horizontal when the cover is up. I have my tt on a large shelf with another shelf above it, and this thoughtful design saves space.

    “And get Ry Cooder to sing my eulogy”- The Tragically Hip…..Hey AN Beautiful DP-47F. Thanks for the demo. Thinking I like these better than the new DP-3000. As the legendary owner, of an amazing hi-fi shop, once told me- “All turntables should be automatic”. He did a great job settling up my DP-300/Dl-110, a long while back. I just put it back in the line-up to tame a little Klipsch beast…did the trick. That cartridge is pretty special. These 47’s are so cool. Magnetic tonearms…🤯 They don’t make them like that anymore…🍻

      Thanks. Yes, the DP47F are really nice decks. My only concern with them is how easy or difficult it would be to fix them if something went wrong with the electronics. The circuit boards underneath look rather intimidating 😁.
      I like automatic TTs, however, there is beauty in simplicity too. After all, you don’t purchase turntable to have an easy life - steaming was developed for this purpose 😂

      Morisejko Moriss Good for you! I think it is a nice tt but I would not go as far as ‘best deck ever’ ;).

    wow, thats a heavy duty turntable

    • @AudioNostalgia
      @AudioNostalgia  4 роки тому +1

      It looks heavy duty, but it is actually quite light and does not feel heavy duty - especially in comparison to Thorens TD160 which I had before.

      But how does it sound compared to modern decks? Love those Harbeths!!! I enjoy mine immensely.

      Bill Uransel I don’t know, I have never compared it to any modern decks. Glad you enjoy your Harbeths, there is something really special about most of their designs.

    so a mm phono will do the Job? Do you need a mc phono to play??

    • @AudioNostalgia
      @AudioNostalgia  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, it will for this cartridge. It is a high output MC cart, which means that it can be plugged in into an MM phono stage.

    Do you set the VTF with the mat on or off? I have this model and I’ve balanced the arm correctly but it won’t give an accurate digital reading for VTF unless the mat is off. Just curious.

    • @AudioNostalgia
      @AudioNostalgia  4 роки тому

      My digital built-in scale was slightly off, so I had to calibrate it - you should be able to find a service manual on the Internet, it is relatively straight forward. If I remember correctly, for calibration I set it up with the mat off, with a small weight scale underneath the stylus (at the same height as where the stylus would have been if there was in an average thickness record there). I then set the weight on the buil-in scale to 2g and turned the potentiometer screw on the TT, until the small weight scale underneath the stylus displayed the same weight as the built-in scale.

      @tanyet 4 роки тому

      @@AudioNostalgia Thx for info. Mine seems to be accurate. I use a 5g weight to test. I'm guessing my issue has more to do with how tall the gauge is. On another note- I'm the biggest Ry Cooder fan in the world and wholeheartedly approve of your choice of music:)

    very boomy

    • @AudioNostalgia
      @AudioNostalgia  Рік тому +1

      Yes, indeed. To film the turntable, the camera had to be put in a poison that emphasises room modes, hence the boominess. It does not sound like this in the listening position.
