      As long as you don’t play louder than a television would or that if you make some more noise it’s not for a very long period of time, why would they complain? Everybody make some noise at home depending on how many kids they have. I can tell you for sure our kids make 10 times more noises than my guitar does, so if someone would complain, that person is for sure a music hater and not really bothered by the guitar sounds, at the volume level I usually play. And that’s why I don’t care at all about that. My baby doesn’t even wake up at the volumes I play and he sleeps in the same room as my rig is.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤷🏻‍♂️

      Say what you will about tube amps solid state as far as built-in distortion goes to bands don't have s*** on solid state there is a reason they started building solid state LOL now for cleans absolutely tube all the way I want to have a hybrid with my distortion on a souped-up channel and my cleanse on a normal tube maybe a little bit of chorus and reverb

    I too was able to get great times out of a Marshall MG head... I think it gets shit on by 1) people who have never owned one and are just parroting others, especially on internet forums, and 2) people who got a combo with a 6" speaker and expect it to sound like a full stack JCM800.

    • @TonyHookedonVanlife
      @TonyHookedonVanlife 8 років тому +5

      "tones", not "times"... stupid autocorrect in my phone. Oh, and 3) people watching others on UA-cam doing 10-0-10 with an amp's bass-mid-treble controls(or doing it themselves).

Really nice spatial delay and reverb. I agree, I don't know why they get so much bad press. I can't tell you how many people ask me if they are valve amps. Great sound at lower volumes, plenty of decibels when the house is empty.

    Great video Dave, I love your channel, always something good to watch / listen to. I've got the Marshall MG 100 HDFX head too, bought a mint one crazy cheap with the MG 4x12 cab, then swapped out the stock MG speakers for 3 used Celestion G12T-75's and a 150w Celestion Sidewinder (taken out of a Marshall Reverb 75 1980's SS Amp and replaced with a G12T-75). The cab sounds awesome, better with the Sidewinder than it did with 4 G12T-75's. Like you, I don't understand why the MG100 Heads get a bad rap, they sound fabulous if you get the tones set right (turn that treble down). The MG is my most played amp by far, use it a lot more than my tube amp.

    Sweet Strat and nice playing dude. I love stereo set-ups. Those are nice fat tones. IMHO it works best when the two amps have quite different characteristics. Typically, a Fender/"American" amp with a Marshall/Vox/"British" amp, or good models thereof. I also really like only driving one side, typically the British side, and keeping the American side cleanish. You can have really raunchy overdrives without losing any attack definition. Either way stereo is epic for ambient tones as you show, cheers

    Ha! I happen to run a very similar setup. I got an Orange Rockerverb MK1 and a Marshal DSL. They run on 2 different cabs (one with V30s and one with Custom Speakers) and I use a TC Electronics Mimiq at the end of my signal chain. It kills any noise you get from phasing etc. and it fattens up rythm playing by quite a bit if you dial it properly. I definitely recommend it for bands with 1 guitarist that want massive sounding guitars.

    so okay... I have been searching hard to figure my question out. I am trying to do this similar thing, but I don't want to run into the front end of the amps because I enjoy the sounds I get pretty naturally out of my floor pod plus so I am running the pedals through my micro terror dark fx recieve. my question after all that is, is it getting any tube "sound" or warmth from the tubes or is it just powering the signal through the cab

    I'm very curious as to how you modified your 4x12 cabinet in order to make this work. I am trying to do the same thing with my EVH 5150III 50-watt and my Orange Dual Dark 50 watt. I currently have an Orange 4x12 cab, and would ideally like to modify it so I can run both simultaneously. The 4x12 is just a pain to gig with so have also been considering buying two 2x12 (or even 2 1X12s) and just designating each head to its own cab. As someone who mainly plays small clubs and bars, do you think modifying a 4x12 is worth the effort, or would 2 2x12 or 2 1x12 cabs be a smarter option?

    • @TempoDrift1480
      @TempoDrift1480 2 роки тому +1

      You need two inputs on the cabinet. Check your amplifiers impedance requirements and wire two speakers to one jack and the other two to the other jack. Each amplifier will go to each pair of speakers. Now how you split your guitar signal into the amp is another story but that's how you do the cabinet.

  • @PeterWasted

      You could do this with 2 cr120s and i would think it would sound awesome. If your running stereo though you might want a different amp just for a different sound. But i would love to know what 2 CR's sound like running together. :)

    However, I have two 412's how would I go about combining my to amps?

    Hy Dave, sorry if this question is a bother, but would this work with a 100 watt amp and a 20 watt head or would one ultimately be quieter than the other?

    Nice demo Dave! Question tho... How do you switch channels from clean to dirty on both amps together using a footswitch?
    Just wondering how can i both turn them on together. Using a distortion would be an easy fixed but i prefer the amp's distortion
    Thank you in advance

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 років тому

      I'm guessing you would need some kind of switching system to change both amps at the same time. Exactly what one though is a little beyond my understanding. Thank you very much for watching. :)

    and dave i have to ask..do you enjoy the hybrids w tube in pre driven by solid st.rec?? how about modeling..marshall codes are brilliant to me...if u like only full on analog ..have you checked out vox av..???

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 років тому +1

      I do like hybrids yes. I would probabaly go for one of them over a ful valve amp if i had to. I used to own a Marshall VS which i loved. Great amp. I really want to give the Marshall code a go but being a skint musician it wont be happening any time soon. :( I haven't checked out the vox av yet no but i shall be demoing the vox VR very soon. Awesome amp. :)

    Awesome! Who said you can't gig with Solid State and be too loud, valve snobs, that's who! Haha! Try putting the 2x12 Orange CR120C combo through a 4x12 cab, Dave! You'll love it, it's mega! :)

      +Jackal Fox Exactly. I gig with the CR120 all the time and always get told to turn down. Haha. 6 seems to be the magic number on the CR for live work. I really need to try that so badly now. Thanks so much for watching. :)

      You're very welcome! :) It just goes to show that Solid State has a firm place in the world, especially if it's Orange. It's well worth a try, loud, but worth it. If you do that, hope you can make a video of it. :D

    i dont understand how you get the two cab heads running into the speaker. your using the pedal as a split to send the guitar signal into two heads, right? i could be confused. how do you get signals from both pedals into one speaker cab through one input? sorry for the question.

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 років тому +4

      My cab can be split to stereo so i can run one head into 2 speakers and the other into the other 2 speakers. No need to be sorry for the question. Happy to answer. :)

      so guitar split into two cables, a cable into each head, and then on the back of the speaker you put one head into the mono and one into stereo? or you get a dual quarter inch connector to single quarter inch output into stereo/mono?

    Does it matter which head is connected to the cab? or with your set up is there two inputs, one for either side?

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  7 років тому

      There are two inputs on my cab. :)

    • @Tabx91
      @Tabx91 7 років тому

      Okay thanks for the reply.
      So I have a Marshall JCM 900 speaker cabinet and it has 2 inputs. The right says 4 ohm and the left says 16 ohm. On the sides of each it says 8 ohm right 8 ohm left. It has a mono/Stereo 150w/ch switch. Is this just saying that on mono its either 4 or 16 and on stereo its 8 and 8?
      Right now i have a Randall RT 100w tube head that has a 4 ohm out and 8 ohm out. I'm using the 8 ohm out from my amp into 16 ohm side on the cab. Is this correct? And if i had another head i can put them both on 8 ohm out and flip the stereo switch to give them both 8 ohms?

    • @BB2009LZ
      @BB2009LZ 7 років тому +1

      @Travis Bishop If the switch is on Mono, the speakers are in parallel if you plug in the 4 ohm jack and series/parallel if you plug in the 16 ohm jack. If the switch is in Stereo, you'll use both jacks and each one has a pair of speakers connected to it in parallel. If the switch is in Stereo and you use only one jack, you'll only run the vertical pair on that side of the cabinet.
      On your Randall, you'd be better off using the 4 ohm output impedance setting and running the Marshall cabinet mono and using the 4 ohm jack. If using another amp, use the 8 ohm output on the Randall, set the cabinet in Stereo and one 8 ohm jack and connect the other amp to the other 8 ohm jack.

    Did you mod the cab splitting the speakers or is this just the stereo option of some cabs?

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  6 років тому

      Its just a stereo option on the JCM900 cabs. : )
