Not only will you damage your voice coils prematurely, but you run the risk of destroying your amplifier as well! If you drive you amplifier into heavy clipping, also you will notice your amplifier will heat up extremely fast, (a lot faster than normal use) due to the excessive stress, on the amplifiers output components, or device's, demanded by the user, usually ending with an amplifier that's stuck in protection, or a burned power supply section.
@@THELIFEOFPRICE I have never burnt up a coil since I have been in this hobby for years since 1991 I am highly smart about car audio and repair amps radio's and subs for fun. SORRY BUT THE OLD SCHOOL WAY WORKS THE BEST AND I WILL CONTINUE THIS METHOD FOR LIFE.
remember, just because you set the gain to not clip with the included test tones doesn't mean it won't clip playing songs at the same set levels. This is because the test tones have a set static dB level and there are songs that could have a higher dB level of bass (especially hard bass drum kicks in songs)
Exactly. It also means that you wont get the loudest bass from every song. Every amp should have a clip indicator on it's bass knob. Then you can always get the maximum amount of bass for every song you play without having to worry about it.
@@THELIFEOFPRICE Hey, I gotta say not many people can pull off a hair cut like that without without catching some shit over it, but it does suit you. In a good way. Looks slick. I would never change it. As long as you're hair doesn't start falling out you're good JK, LOL.. Peace and BASS!!
If my car has a 130amp stock alternator and the full throttle ft 680-48 do you think I could get away running a class d 1800 watt or even a 2400 watt amp? I can mute so I’m in the car for an hour and a half to work and an hour and a half home and my listening sessions are usually only 30 minutes long or so. I do listen to my music every once in a while while I’m running errands as well. I’m rarely ever listening for tilt if ever. I also run a 360 watt to my two front mids.
My speakers clipped due to low voltage, but they still sound good afterwards, can I have confidence in them or did the clipping damage them and shorten their lifespan? Please and thanks
I have the jp-2300 on 2 sundown sa v2 10s. Xs power d3400 and mechman elite 370 amp alternator. Why does my amp clip so fast is it possibly a bad ground. Or do I need another battery or what would you recommend
Hello thanks for the video if my pedal is turned up to high on the volume and my Active 5 string bass volume is turned up with the bass knob on the pedal does this cause my Bugera amp to clip at like less than 1/4 of the way on volume . I have never played guitar but I recieved as a gift this 5 string lefty Scheter Stileto Bass guitar to learn to play and I love thrash and super Hard metal.
I have a Sundown X8V3 and SFB 1000.D amplifier running stock electrical (21 Civic Sport Hatch)with the four gauge power and ground. I have 2-5v preamps and gain on amp is 11 o’clock. All other amp settings are turned to minimum. When the head unit volume is turned up a good bit anything over half volume on the bass knob starts to clip but turning it past clipping I still get a lot more bass out of the subwoofer and I can tell it is not clipping as much as it is starving for power. Does this sound correct and do I need to try the big three upgrade?
But why does this happen in my Hummer H3 with the key off(before I open the door) , but it pumps loud and great while the engine or alternator is running. I was told my battery is fine. It's not an amped system. Just a Pioneer Din, and 4 Pioneer door speakers.
Has anyone experienced setting the sub gains with the dd1 (all set) out of curiosity I left the dd1 connected while playing music and it showed a lot of distortion left me thinking... is something not correct? Ran a test tone from 1 hz to 1000 hz and noticed it read the distortion from 100 to 140 hz set lpf and still showed it. Any advice?
I've had my gains set since last year from a new sundown amp and just this week . The bass knob won't let me go past 60% were as when I bought it i set the gains and I was able to put it at 100% .. I forgot how I have it but its around 25 or 30 from one side and the bass boost I at 0 or 10% and the one that from the bass knob I have it to were at 0 it the sub completely turns off and at 100 it just barely clips but now it's in between 50 and 60 and doesn't get loud at all like before any info? Nothing has changed in my car since it got installed
I need some help. I have the sfb1000 amp running a SA classic on 1 ohm. the amp keeps clipping. I sent it to sundown for testing. they said amp is good and issue is cause by bad rca signal from the radio and music source bluetooth. They said it was premature clipping. Is there such thing? How do I fix this?
Better rca. Re route away from any speaker or power wires. And possibly change your head unit to a higher end one or go through a high end pre amp eq to let you control diffrent frequency's during the songs
Is that why my new sfb 2000 clips with just an 1/8” turn at full volume on the radio? I know my pioneer deck clips at 38, and at that point, playing a 40hz tone, it clips really fast. It’s on stock electrical (2012 f150 eco boost)
I am running a single sa12 on a SFB1500 and I can only get it about 1/8 of a turn on a 2019 F150 before it starts to clip at 90% of my highest level. What sub are you using? Some of it revolves around the subs and what they can handle before clipping.
I bought an SMD DD1 3 1/2 months ago and still haven't opened or used it. Mainly because in order to use it I need to disconnect my door and dash speakers because they are still running off the deck and I can't use the test tones on the disk that comes with the DD1 without distorting or damaging the speakers.
Does anybody know what is the point that separates clipping from distortion? Is it like 5% distortion, 10%? Also, yeah like JP said an oscilloscope or Steve's SMD products is a worthwhile investment. I've been known to blow systems in a week without proper tuning...basically I was asking earlier ^^^^ at what THD point does a signal or amp typically clip at? I've noticed with car audio(like with most things) there's a lot of misinformation out there and there's a lot of info that is just simply not out there. From what I understand clipping is partly where you are overdriving your amps output section as far as voltage ability. But like some ppl have mentioned that you also have clipping and distortion at the signal and at the end of the reproduction chain, i.e your speakers. I'm no expert, I'm still learning...
Overpriced!!??? Lol dude you need to get that boomer mentality out of your head. That meter DMM, is literally an O-scope but you set the gains so much faster
