Nobody here seems to be aware this song wasn't crafted for this episode. It's an actual band called Wax Fang, and they're excellent. The writer of the episode saw them open for My Morning Jacket (also made an appearance on this show prior to this) and put the song in the episode, probably inspired by the final verse for the heartbreak moment.
First time I saw this I thought it was a masterpiece written by the American Dad team specifically for the episode. Even though it wasn't written for it, it's perfect.
The way they placed the song in feels like the whole episode was built around making this pivotal moment and the song was so expertly timed between inserted sounds/images that it naturally just felt like they _had_ to of made it. It wasn't until a bit later when I actually searched online and realized it was yet another song they added to an episode. They did cut the beginning buildup and the ending fade out to the song, but the sharp intro and abrupt endings felt nessassry for what they were executing in the scene. He was suddenly put on trial, and it was the trial was partially rushed to try to punish Jeff before he got his wits back about all the nice things he's done and how the creature only showed the bad stuff. A really smart way to add the song while also playing to the beat of the song. "The Summoner" playfully took his time, dropped some explosive orbs in a perfectly timed out manner, then the orbs explode on beat to the song. So much goes into this attention to detail to make the song perfect for the moment. It's astounding. It's _Majestic._
Lyrics A sight for sore eyes, to the blind would be awful majestic. It would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen. It would cause such surprise, it would make all of their minds electric. How could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?In such disbelief, i thought i was asleep when i met you. My heart liquefied and i sighed: “"Oh this must be a dream”!". If i forget to set the alarm and sleep on through the dawn don't remind me I'd rather be dreaming of someone than living alone! If you're searching the lines for a point well, you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place.
Someone falls in love with someone, who they believe is the one. Everyone one tells this person that they are loving a monster who will hurt you. But it's the love of their life, never have they seen such beauty. Everyone keeps trying to convince them. this person wont believe it. But then it happens. The love of their life is gone, breaking their heart, proving everyone was right. They get so depressed and stay home all the time. Keeps hoping thier love will return, but it's just them dreaming. That's where they are happy, dreaming, so they stay there. Trying to remember a moment when their love loved them back, but there was never anything there in the first place
"If you're searching the lines for point, well you've probably missed it. There was never anything THERE in the first place!" That verse always fucks up my heart. It was a verse that stayed inside me for many months while I fought with my feelings of my ex after he cheated.
I may be way overreaching but I think there is kind of a point in the song itself. I think it means that when your with someone you truly love to the point of wonder, it's a feeling you just go with. And should the dream turn out to just be a dream, well there is always another one that may come. Maybe feelings of love are what WE make them and it can happen anytime given the right conditions.... Or there is no love, we're all fooling ourselves and we just die alone.

I think the summoner's a prisoner too. His arms have old-timey prison stripes, he looks like he's been tortured and abused (hair falling out in such a patchy fashion), his bottom half is utterly mangled, and as far as we know, his eyes were cut out.
I love the following scene when he is about to bang the shapeshifter and she puts on the record and the "Majestic" plays but stops it fast "oh I'm sorry that's really popular here" haha
This friggin' clip is the reason why I wake up in the morning. Everything about this episode was amazing: character design, plot, jokes and that special "American Dad" sauce, but this clip is my favorite part. I think it's so good that this should be the song's videoclip.
Such a great episode lots of heart it's what made Jeff one of my favorite characters that's why I like American dad so much unlike other animated shows over the years this one still has heart
I saw this episode about 3 years ago in the midst of a horrible drunken depression and I was absolutely fucking captivated by this song. It hit me and stuck with me more than any song ever has, and that is saying a lot. Brilliant song.
+violatormelms wait, i don't get it? Is it the song from Anastasia? If so how would that help getting over a breakup, wouldn't it sound like or gonna get her back by force if necessary??
It's the last two line of the song that makes it "deep". -If you're searching the lines for a point then you probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place!
The first time I saw this episode, when I heard this song, I fell in love. I don't know why but it felt like such a magical song. I couldn't even move or look at anything else. I've listened to it over and over since then. I like to listen to it when I'm having an off day
This song is so perfect and fitting for this scene. Like a mix of Elton John, Queen, and disc 2 of Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Never even heard of "Wax Fang" before this but fucking props to them for this piece. Fun fact - Wax Fang toured with My Morning Jacket, the band that Stan became obsessed with. American Dad > Family Guy
One of the songs that I'm not ashamed of being new to. Very unique song and great musically. American dad did great with this one and the My Morning Jacket episode
So I like Family Guy better just because of the characters. More of them, more memorable. But this fucking scene is better than anything Family Guy can create. It's so beautiful, it's epic. Everything about it. And I have never seen this episode so I don't know why Jeff is here or even know where the hell they are....but I don't need to, because I'm already in love with it.
They both have their moments for sure. It's hard for myself. Fam guy is awesome but this is like a breath of fresh air from the flashbacks of fam guy. Tied for me lol
Family Guy characters used to be likable up until season 8 or so. I like American Dad better because the humor actually comes from the characters more than the situation and it doesn't rely so much on shock value as modern Family Guy. I also think the Smiths are somewhat more believable as a family than the Griffins.
[Verse] A sight for sore eyes To the blind would be awful majestic It would be the most beautiful thing That they ever had seen It would cause such surprise It would make all of their minds electric How could anyone tell them That some things are not what they seem? This is an extremely emotional song to me and American Dad is the only way I've ever heard it, but it has been randomly playing in my head as of late. I don't know what to say except that this video just brought me to tears.
I love this song so much thanks to this episode.. I had insomnia and couldn’t sleep so I stayed up watching tv, I heard this and fell in love and now this is one of my two favourite episodes of American Dad. The other is Boys 12.
“If you’re searching the lines for a point well you’ve probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place” well thats not true tho, at the start it says “a sight for sore eyes to the blind would be awful majestic, it would be the most beautiful thing they ever had seen” so there is a point, don’t take things for granted :)
@@thaurane because the whole song is about a guy blind to love, and using people to fill a void. "There was never anything there in the first place" I don't think he's saying there was no point in the lines, I think he means there was no love there in the first place
This might be my favorite scene in the series. The song fits this scene perfectly to the point I wonder if the scene was created just because of this song.
It wasn't. But I feel this version is better. The original feels drawn out and needed remastering to this one. Go listen to the original and you'll hear what I mean. Even those 3 little explosions to wake the majestic feel more in place than the drummer did in the original at that moment. Both versions are good, but the American Dad version is better hands down.
I remember this scene. The emperor had rigged it so that thing would only show all of the bad things about Jeff and haley's relationship. Its turns out later that there were also a lot of good things too but the emperor was mad at roger for cheating on him so he became bitter and only focused on the negatives of relationships

When the Summoner came out to start singing, I thought for sure his character and song and scene was lifted from a 70s musical movie like the ones that were popular back then. I thought maybe Meatloaf or Elton John had done this at one stage in a forgotten movie. I was wrong, but the writers and animators nailed it in replicating that style.
gutz1981 same here! I had to rewatch Phantom of the paradise and Rocky horror after stumbling upon this clip from some compilation (haven’t seen much of American dad).
Honestly this show is pretty good, you will only laugh when u least expected. Like when Francine calls roger a "alien piece of shit" randomly during dinner
The song fits this scene so perfectly its unreal
the guy who wrote it worked on the episode according to wikipedia
Elliott Hurst tbh I thought AD did such a good job on making the song then I realized it was just to good so I started looking

Holy, when i heard this song after what happened in previous episodes i nearly cried and i dont usually cry. it was so beautiful and sad at the same time.
Alex Cunningham Same here.
Wait..... wtf. How the hell did roger the alien that caused this whole thing, cry over someone that he basically threw under the bus.
Alex Cunningham I come in mysterious ways! Now worship me!
Alex Cunningham Oh, go to hell.
This makes me cry every time. I only seek it out when I need a good sob. Works a treat 🤣✌️
This song makes me so emotional even though I wasn't in any relationship. Just seeing Jeff crying and devastated for Hayley touches my heart.
“There was never anything there in the first place” damn that’s a great song

My favorite episode still today 🔥🔥🔥
That Summoner is just the best.
Jake Paul is cool
If you're searching the comments for a point well you probably missed it, there was never anything there in the first place.
I fell asleep watching American dad on Hulu years ago and woke up to this scene. I had to rewind and watch the whole episode at like 4am.
Me gustó mucho esta escena y la canción.
Lol
;v
Majestic
TheDracerGx :,v
Si logras ver esto vengo del futuro :v el geizer va a convenciones :v
I saw this episode about 3 years ago in the midst of a horrible drunken depression and I was absolutely fucking captivated by this song. It hit me and stuck with me more than any song ever has, and that is saying a lot. Brilliant song.
This is honestly my favorite episode and i found this song again like yesterday and fell in love all over again. 😭
...
...
.. A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES TO THE BLIND WOULD BE AWFUL MAJESTIC
It would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen
+dank memer I would cause such suprise it would make all their minds electric
+willie willie How could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?
+Andrew Ross In such disbelief, I thought I was asleep when I met you
+Blast22 My heart liquefied and i sighed '"oh this must be a dream"'
American dad killed it with this episode
this song kinda helps me on getting over my recent breakup... she destroyed my soul and heart
+Manboutu O'maeley
Hmmm... in that case I would say that you shold lisen to my favorite song
"In The Dark of the night". A tip from the coach.
+violatormelms I did like that song and movie
+violatormelms omg are you talking about that song from Anastasia? lmgao
+Master Aqua lmfao***
+violatormelms wait, i don't get it? Is it the song from Anastasia? If so how would that help getting over a breakup, wouldn't it sound like or gonna get her back by force if necessary??
I can't be the only who thinks this is really deep, right? Anyone?
It's very deep about love.....like it more than todays pop!
rafael lariosa I have a phone case with the motif of your profile picture on it ☄️
SoulOfPower QQ
It's the last two line of the song that makes it "deep". -If you're searching the lines for a point then you probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place!
American Copperhd trust me man If you read the meaning of the entire song dude you see the deep meaning
Comfortably numb solo
This entire episode is one of the best episodes ever.
I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D BE SO MAJESTIC!
I think this episode in particular is my favourite of American dad, it just has tons of the show's best aspects all together
That guitar touched my cold, cracked heart...
Check the song out live. It's 10x better
One of the songs that I'm not ashamed of being new to. Very unique song and great musically. American dad did great with this one and the My Morning Jacket episode
This is why American dad is 1000 times better than family guy
Canned- Bread_ yas
I believe both shows really have their moments
No
Rudi Winkler Yes
Family guy is more reliant on cut away and they've gotten real old stale. American dad is funnier because they have to be creative with their writing.
this will go down as the best american dad episode ever created
lol the alien holding the sign "GO Majestic" XD
Best episode of the series.
Besides the indie movie episode haha
It's on the telly tonight again, and oh so fitting x
They did this whole scene so well! 😆
This is an amazing song- Im so glad they had it in this scene like!!!! This is such an amazing part for the show!!!
[Verse]
A sight for sore eyes
To the blind would be awful majestic
It would be the most beautiful thing
That they ever had seen
It would cause such surprise
It would make all of their minds electric
How could anyone tell them
That some things are not what they seem?
In such disbelief
I thought I was asleep when I met you
My heart liquefied and I sighed
Oh this must be a dream
If I forget to set the alarm
And sleep on through the dawn
Don’t remind me
I’d rather be dreaming of someone
Than living alone
[Guitar Solo]
If you’re searching the lines for a point
Well, you’ve probably missed it
There was never anything there
In the first place
This song gets into your brain like those tentacles and will not let GO!!!!
I also just noticed that the summoners exhaust puffs in time with the beat
MY GOD, I JUST REALIZED THAT THE SUMMONER HAVE LEGS WTF
Same here! XD LOL
amagawd what is juice.....
lMFAO I KNOW i didn't see those scrawny things like i thought his body was attached to that little ship thingie he was sitting on
+Ravioli Heichou omg levi sign my cup of noodles
he to fat to walk though
Little details like the smoke from the summoners chair that's in tune with the piano rift is a nice touch.
This song gives me chills
Perhaps one of the best American Dad moments EVER.
American Dad is better than many others series and proves it with episodes like this
2024 and I've never forgotten this scene. American Dad is legit better than Family Guy in every way.
love it . thx McFarlane . thx Wax Fang
Am obsessed with this group love there music!!!
Me too
This sounds like it could be an Elton John's song
I think he was the inspiration for this bit
The song is by a band called Wax Fang.
I was thinking the same thing!!
I thought it had more of a Bowie vibe
This is an extremely emotional song to me and American Dad is the only way I've ever heard it, but it has been randomly playing in my head as of late. I don't know what to say except that this video just brought me to tears.
Damn look at all the Rogers
That's really racist lol
Roger almost killed me
+Jeff Fischer you should be stoned
+CHRISTOPHER “JC” JOHNSON They put a lot of effort into making them look unique.
dammit somebody beat me to it lol
My God this is such a good scene, probably the best in all of AD
I love this song.
That last line was driving home how he did miss it because he is blind. So it is true.
@@thaurane because the whole song is about a guy blind to love, and using people to fill a void.
"There was never anything there in the first place" I don't think he's saying there was no point in the lines, I think he means there was no love there in the first place
Love this song. I didn't even see the whole episode I literally only watched this part and had to leave and needed to hear it again
American dad remains the show closest to Futurama in scale of imagination intellectual storytelling and this episode is why
Ever since this episode I blast this song! Its amazing!
I can’t get over how good this song is
Por lejos el mejor capitulo de American dad
+laequis y por mucho... curiosamente no salen los personajes principales
Namitho19 Hay otros capitulos asi? Vi algunos caps y no son buenos la verdad
Amazing episode
I remember this scene. The emperor had rigged it so that thing would only show all of the bad things about Jeff and haley's relationship. Its turns out later that there were also a lot of good things too but the emperor was mad at roger for cheating on him so he became bitter and only focused on the negatives of relationships
He smoothed their genitals over too.
Which is why they used a song that clearly says it doesn't have a point but people over analyze it anyways
Watching this episode on TV at 10:30PM was truly an experience I'll never soon forget, sheer psychedelic beauty.
Worth using the last of my data for this
I heard this for the first time a few days ago......and I can’t get it out of my head.....what a great melody and lyrics

Paul p
Definitely made me think of Phantom of the Paradise. Great tune!
Best Song IVE heard in cartoon. Usually when a song comes up it makes me want to turn it off - this Is The Exception
Such a great song. American dad has one of the best sound tracks
I thought of Meatloaf too!!!!!
I've always liked this show, but after they introduced me to this incredible song, I fell in love!!
Honestly this show is pretty good, you will only laugh when u least expected. Like when Francine calls roger a "alien piece of shit" randomly during dinner
