    Nobody is talking about how significant the summoner flicking Jeff’s hat off is. There’s a whole episode where Haley helps him find a new one - it’s the last thing that physically tied him to her. It’s a loss on multiple levels.

    Can we talk about how dark this episode, and the entire plotline was? Jeff was abducted because Roger pushed him into the beam, probably never planning on going himself, was then forced to work in a shopping mall prison where the leader rigs the only way to get out because he himself lost his true love (to Roger, because of course he lost it to Roger), Jeff finally escapes, watching Sinbad die, thinks he will drift space forever, find a wormhole, but then finds a wormhole, but THEN finds out he doomed Haley to a life of loneliness, and then died alone after being abducted a SECOND time by Alien Poachers.

    This scene is actually strangely sad... there’s a harsh truth in the way it shows you can love someone but still mistreat them,something which I think everyone is guilty of. Also the animation is superb, and I’m so glad that all the aliens of Rodger’s species look different... That must have taken so long to do!

    "If you're searching the lines for a point, then you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place".
    The most savage fourth-wall break I've ever heard in a song.

    • @Life_and_Gaming
      @Life_and_Gaming 6 років тому +247

      Well, I don't really think it's meant to be that way. The song seems to have a pretty clear line of logic, and it seems to be (especially in the context of the scene) about a relationship that won't work, having an overly optimistic output on it. Line 1 "A sight for sore eyes to the blind would be awful majestic, it would be the most beautiful thing that they ever had seen" refers to the beginning of the relationship. They haven't been in a better one, so when they see this person they think that they're perfect and exactly what they are looking for. Line 2, "It would cause such surprise it would make all of their minds electric, how could anyone tell them that some things are not what they seem?" is talking about when they're actually together. Of course, those with an outside perspective KNOW that what they're in, the relationship, is a bad one, but the can see that for the moment, they're so filled with joy at the start that they can't tell them that it's going to end poorly. Line 3 "In such disbelief I thought that I was asleep when I met you, my heart liquified and I sighed oh this must be a dream" refers to, again, when they meet, the whole thing seems dreamy and perfect and ideal but then Line 4 "If I forget to set the alarm and sleep on through the dawn don't remind me, I'd rather be dreaming of someone than living alone" comes and says that they'd rather stay in this "ignorance is bliss" early state of the relationship than confront the reality that the whole thing is just being idealized and isn't as good as it seems in the beginning. The 5th and final line, "if you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it, there was never anything there in the first place" refers to the fact that, in the end, as much as they may have searched for a way to justify the relationship and show that it is loving and IS good, in the end, true love was just never really there. It's really genius in the way it uses the metaphor of a blind person seeing something ugly as the first thing they see and thinking it's beautiful before coming to the true realization that it is not, but trying to justify that it was good, before accepting it. It's almost like the 5 stages of grief, in a way. Denial (line 1), Anger (line 2), bargaining (lines 3 and 4), depression (first half of line 5), acceptance (end of line 5). So it could be about more than just the relationship, and while it feels like that's what it's referring to metaphorically, the whole metaphor could extend to many different aspects of life.

    all jokes aside this was a really well written episode more specifically really well written scene, Wax Fang's "Majestic" encapsulated exactly what jeff must've been feeling, the powerful and emotional guitar solo was filled with pain and sadness which went perfectly with the footage jeff was seeing and seeing jeff cry made the scene stand out. jeff saw how horribly he treated Hayley pairing that with the music made this better, the next time he did the test showing the positive side of his relationship was also great because that time they had wax fang's "the astronaut part 2" playing which had a more upbeat and inspiring tone again paring nicely to the positive footage. all around a great episode.

    This is such a powerful episode. If we were told before it that Jeff would lead an episode in space and the story would take on a cinematic feeling many would think "Here comes the shark" this scene is the biggest highlight. A masterpiece of a song that tells the hard truth of what happens to many relationships once the early magic has faded. The song helps us feel Jeff's pain even more so but I don't think it's mentioned enough how it helps us relate to the emperor too. He is practically giddy at these lyrics because his heartbreak made him wage a war on love and majestic reflects his feelings perfectly. Not in any way hating on Family Guy here, but they did a whole show based on never getting an Emmy. American Dad should have gotten one for this and I can think of many times American Dad should have gotten an Emmy when Family Guy would have still missed out.

    It wasn't part of this episode specifically, but one really cool moment from the multiple-episode 'Jeff In Space' storyline, was in the sequence where Jeff + Sinbad 'first' get back to Earth [using the wormhole], when it's flicking through them as all the different images, if you pause it as JUST the right moment using either a DVR, Netflix, etc, for one split second they are actually the live-action Sinbad, and the real Jeff Fisher, Seth Mcfarlane's friend who looks like, dresses like, and supposedly acts just like the Jeff on the show, apart from voicing him

    Great song yes but it is a terrifying EarWorm that sneaks up on you like Preditor then forces it self in your head like a FaceHugger that then forces you to seek it out and listen to it until you can expell it and share it

      Ghastly Dragon 10 ya I saw this ep yesterday and since I’ve been listening to the song practically on repeat. It is like a spiritual leech that has locked me into this vibe. I love the vibe, I understand it, I completely resonate with it, I get. But it is almost hard to think at times for the lyrics and whistling keep popping into my head. Other songs have become less appealing. I’ve been hooked hard by a song this hard before and it’s almost a shame. Eventually I end up listening to it so much that I just burn out on it and never listen to it again.
