- Future Arrest (Hoboken ACME): • Homeless Woman Arreste...
Around 1:42 PM on June 22, 2023, Officer Ryan Weiss with the Westfield Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at Walgreens located at 260 North Avenue E. The store manager advised the dispatcher that a white woman wearing black was seen placing items inside of a bag and leaving the store with a tall male who was outside the store. Police were advised that the suspect headed towards the train station.
Around 1:47 PM, Officer Weiss located a female matching the caller’s description, and he made contact with her. She was identified as 25-year-old Lindsey Caverly, and the other man was identified as “Joe.” While Joe was detained during the investigation, it was revealed that he did not enter the store with her so he would eventually be released at the scene. However, the officers continued their investigation with their suspect Lindsey.
After Officer Weiss initially made contact with Lindsey, she admitted to stealing deodorant from Walgreens. The officers also located a bag full of toiletries that seemed to be from the Walgreens. Officer Weiss headed over to the Walgreens to meet with the manager and review the surveillance footage, while Officer Kristopher Jackus continued with the investigation at the station. As he took down Lindsey’s information, she told him that she was homeless.
It was determined that the value of the items shoplifted from Walgreens was about $255, and the manager told the officers that they wanted to press charges. Since they wanted to press charges, Officer Jackus placed Lindsey under arrest and transported her to the Westfield Police Department. A search of court records indicate that Lindsey has been arrested multiple times in the past, including for DWI, possession, and shoplifting. In regards to this particular incident, she was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(2) and released pending her court appearance. In the future, Lindsey would go on to be arrested again for stealing from the ACME in Hoboken.

I was homeless, broke, and had 2 kids. I walked into a grocery store and talked to the manager. He bought me a basket of groceries with his own money and thanked me for asking for help instead of stealing. I have been clean and sober for over 10 years now. My kids are amazing, and our life is really, really good.
That makes my heart smile.
You should be super proud of yourself, for turning it all around & being the mother your children deserve. ❤
Awesome! ❤❤
🤗
This is why they are closing stores
Yup; soon we’ll all have to order our toiletries and more from Amazon; the only safe place that shoplifters can’t steal from
Geeeeee thanks Einstien
I agree
@@mmc3731Shoplifters can’t steal from there but the employees can. I worked at an Amazon fulfillment center in eastern Pennsylvania for 3 years and I heard of employees stealing. The company had to invest millions of dollars in surveillance equipment, and, believe me, that was very sophisticated equipment. I don’t blame them! That is what they had to do!
I am certainly not condoning what this lady did but I feel sorry for her due to her circumstances. No one should be homeless.
I felt bad when she said she took a deodorant. When they showed the bag and i saw the cost of 255$ i didn't feel so bad anymore.
Well your one of the stupid people. Why would you " feel bad" for someone who steals???? YOU ARE THE PROBLEM
You should never feel bad. They know how to feed off normal people emotions to get what they want lol.
Definitely addict behavior.
I agree, she planned on selling all those toiletries.
@@colleenpeck6347 I hope this was her moment of incomprehensible demoralization, & she gets sober. When she takes a 5 year sobriety coin, she'll laugh about this.
Oh shutt up. That 1980's line...as if they justifies ANYTHING????? How does she have money for drugs LOUD MOUTH???
@@colleenpeck6347 Or she was planning on huffing them.
In California, girl accused of stealing could steal all she wanted right in front of your face as long as the stuff taken was under $950. The thief would only get a ticket, if even that!
YOUR BUDDY GAVEN NUESOM
But,would they get to keep the groceries?
@@eh-i1841 only if the owner or manager requests it back.
All stores need to press charges to deter others from theft. Word gets around when someone gets off easy.
The same girl arrested June 12 in Hoboken for stealing from a supermarket.
It's ridiculous
Shes not innocent and shes not " homeless" besides BEING HOMELESS DOESNT GRANT YOU EXTRA RIGGTS
She's a drug addict.
I think I seen 5 cops for this single theft. Wow, all standing around doing nothing. There must be very little violent crime in NJ
The cops have to serve and protect corporate profits.
@@MaxZomboniyou’re dumb
This I why I have to spend 20 minutes in the drug store, to track down an employee to unlock a case... just to buy a bar of soap. Freaking ridiculous.. Crazy too because Westfield is a little Richie rich town.
Yes exactly. The problem is they don't get any jail time. Absolutely no consequences. We pay the price.
Cry me a river womp womp
Only if you promise to drown in it.. @@Sofus-fu4ro
This isn't ShopRite?...
no the AP guys in Hoboken took a personal vacation this week 🤣
I miss that long staircase! 😅
Stealing with a business logo on your back.😂
Nope, but it's just one town over.
The Walgreens employee seems very nice.
Jersey's already high as fuck to live and raise three kids in, and this shit is just driving it up to the summit of Everest. Yet another reason why I'm moving back to Lone Star.
Exactly. We get to pay in higher prices for everything these thieves steal & they get absolutely no jail time.
Is their a food pantry in this city or near by?
Food pantry doesn’t really give stuff for hygiene.. just food, usually
At least she did not yell at the top of her voice, kicked & fight with officer & repeated I did'nt do nothing 100 times. This woman looks extremely tired - no reason for stealing - ask!!!
Amen
Ok that’s a serious stink problem cause Damn! They wiped out All the deodorant! Wow!
She sells em for cigeretts and her fun no rules no bills lifestylr
This is just sad. She’s down on her luck. She needs to do her time because it’s wrong to take from others but being sanctimonious about a woman trying to survive is a psychotic attitude.
I bet Izzy's Plumbing and Heating paid her to do this so they can get free advertising on UA-cam.
Little bit of flirting with the cop and store worker at the beginning lol
Woah, cop 1 said I’m on and the other cop said on what lol and then proceeded to flirt with the store worker, they def ran a train on her.
Nice advertising for the plumbing company
Damn trains never show up on time.
There are many government resources - shelters, halfway houses - to help the homeless. Most choose not to go there but rather panhandle or worse shoplift. Sad to see that.
She took deodorants last time, but her two male accomplices got away with 2 bags of groceries, worth hundreds of dollars.
She HAS TO be trading those for drugs. Wtf?? 11:47
How many homeless people are there in Westfield?
More NJ content!!
Hey,,, officer what is up with your turn signal? That sounds like a bulb is out.
WESTFIELD REPRESENTED! Next up: Menlo Park, then Avenel, then Spotswood!!!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I felt bad for her when she said she stole deodorant...then they showed the bag of everything she took! She seems like a decent person thats made some bad choices, I hope she gets help and her life on track!
She must be reselling these toiletries. Homeless people would go to a dollar tree for such items.
There isn't a local dollar tree there. @@colleenpeck6347
@@colleenpeck6347 So?
I don't feel bad for her when my family has to pay higher prices for everything this thief steals & wait for stores to unlock items so we can buy them. She needs to get a JOB .
@@socal-rw9un yeah, it's crazy when a store like Walgreens raises their prices because of theft but still makes 27 billion in profits in a year...
She had a pillow in Acme
Were they huffing the spray deodorant? That is a lot of deodorant.
Yes, it definitely appears that way!
Happy belated birthday to Bob. 🥳🎈😂 6:28
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Shout out to IZZY'S Plumbing and Heating.
No excuses for theft. Find the resources. I couldn’t afford to buy stuff from Walgreens, years back, because they used to mark-up prices 100%. Now, due to thefts, it has to be a mark-up of 150%. Yes, I worked there for many years. We would raise the prices and then put them ‘on sale’ for their original price. But not an excuse for theft.
That is exactly what she was doing, finding resources. Unfortunately for her, she got caught doing it. But she will get better at it.
She looks able to work, why steal and be homeless, get a job like the rest of us!!!
Westfield has some cute officers 😍 lol
Unless it’s a small business like a family business that definitely is really unfair to steal from but a huge corporation that makes a ton of money is wild
It’s ok to steal? Seriously?
No, IT'S NOT OKAY. EVER.
Then all the customers pay for the theft from rising prices. They have to cover the loss somehow. It’s never OK to steal.
You still shouldn’t steal from them because that’s going to affect honest, paying customers, the store itself and the employees who work there, and possibly want more hours to make ends meet. If the store is having trouble with shoplifters, that’s going to make it more difficult for the store to help those employees. It is not a victimless crime. I worked in retail for over 30 years.
