    I know I'm going to get some requests to buy these, but I don't plan to sell any. Check out my friend's Etsy shop. He's the one who taught me how to do these and he does them better than I do. www.etsy.com/shop/KiddRocksLapidary?fbclid=IwAR1HZjnKVRh9M68DFBPc3If5iRyjyCPBGUbFdlipXuyjyauDG8RpNinQY2o

    My husband and I have been collecting a lot of rocks since COVID. It started as an activity that got us outside and away from the crowds. Now, we need something to do with them! We recently purchased a tumbler since that seems like to easiest way to get started but I am very interested in the lapidary arts. I tried to find a Maker Space near me with lapidary equipment so I could try it out before making an investment. Unfortunately, I had no luck. In the meantime, I enjoy your videos on making cabs and Pandora beads! By the way, the state of Michigan should be paying you for showing the beautiful side of that state! I have never been to that part of the country, but my impression of Michigan, before I saw your videos, was not a good one. It was mostly based on the news, which only highlights the negatives of an area. My husband and I have put the northern part of Michigan on our vacation list and we plan to visit within the next 3-4 years. We currently live in Virginia where the rocks are not plentiful. The rivers and streams in the mountains near Shenandoah National Park have some pretty rocks however: jasper, unakite, "dragon's blood", and blue quartz. We do find fossils and shark teeth in the Potomac River, but we prefer rocks. By the way, I also love your videos where you are rock hunting the beaches, except the part where you drop a beautiful rock back into the water!!

    • @MichiganRocks
      @MichiganRocks  5 днів тому +1

      Just before I retired from teaching, a new teacher had just started at our school who had just moved to Michigan. Before he first visited the state, his impression was that it was all like Detroit. Even Detroit isn't as bad as it used to be, but I never go there anyhow. Most of the state is more like what you see in my videos. Of course, I'm usually on a beach, but inland is a lot of woods in the northern half of the lower peninsula and all of the upper peninsula. The southern part is more farmland and that's where most of the population is.

    Hello again.
    We all really like these pendants. You're wife is lucky to have them handmade by you. They're special.
    Could Yooperlite be used for more pendants?
    Thank you. Have a rocking day! 😎

    • @MichiganRocks

      I could make pendants out of Yooperlite, but they'd just be plain gray rocks most of the time.

    Really cool how you made these. I wrapped a quartz crystal once thinking I knew what I was doing. My wife wasn't to happy when it slipped out and cracked on the ground. This video will help me next time.

      That's the only kind I know how to make. I like the groove wrap because it doesn't hide the stone at all.

      Thanks for subscribing, Tempered Storm. I publish my main video every Friday evening. It's either a rock hunting video or a lapidary video like this one. On Tuesdays I have been publishing a Rocks in a Box video where I just show some rocks that I have tumbled. Those videos aren't as popular, but the people who like them seem to really like them.

    These are beautiful especially when you think about the wonder of these rocks just lying around on the ground and then becoming these magnificent interstellar jewels. Also aren't those blades and sanders dangerous? Your fingers are so close to them when you are working.

    • @MichiganRocks
      @MichiganRocks  3 роки тому

      I like how I can go from a rock that I found to a piece of jewelry. I didn't do that with these, I bought slabs and started there. But I have started with rocks the I found too.
