Thx dude. I’m getting old. It’s been years since I’ve put stereos in cars now I’m an old man trying to hookup a little jam on my CanAm Spyder RT. This info got my mind back on track. Thx dude.
Appreciate the help. There are several youtube videos that instruct viewer to just tape up the wires but I had a funny feeling they were wrong....nice to find a good explanation.
I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the video, but this is also a great solution for when it comes to bypassing the factory amp and hooking up an aftermarket one instead... especially if retaining the factory stereo. Just splice these to the speaker input wires and then connect the output wires directly to the amp.
You started off the video saying, "Why would anybody want to turn an RCA cable into a speaker wire" - let me tell you my predicament. I have a receiver which has 'Main Speakers" inputs as well as "Remote Speakers". The "Main Speakers" requires speaker wire to be used and the "Remote Speakers" requires RCA. For my setup I have two nice Floor/tower speakers plugged into the "Main Speakers" using speaker wire. I then have a nice set of wireless Griffin spekers plugged in to the "Remote Speakers" using RCA. It worked perfect for quite a while. Now I am looking to upgrade to a different receiver, and all of the receivers I have looked at have options for 'Speaker A' and 'Speaker B'. The problem: I can't plug the Griffin wireless into "Speaker B" unless I somehow get the RCA from the Griffin to turn into speaker wire to put into the receiver. This may be a silly thing to be asking, and probably exposes my amateur experience with audio, but I haven't found anybody addressing this issue online anywhere. Thanks!
Tyler Wessroy why dont you find a reciever with a/b and zone 3 capabilities like the airplay mode as its commonly called to use those wireless griffin speakers and control all 3 independantly? I know onkyo and pioneer makes such units
Built a antenna tuner for ham radio. Antenna used RCA Connecters and radio use Pl-259 connectors. So looked at your video for possible pointers. Be well
So here's one reason a person would want to step down from RCA to regular speaker wire: Salvaging a set of speakers on a used car. I bought an 06 Malibu and the previous owner had stripped out the rear speakers and the amp he had installed, and while I was trying to replace the speakers, I found that simply hooking up the old speaker wire to some OEM speakers wasn't going to work, since the audio is now going through the damned RCA cables. Is there any way to get the stock rear speakers to work without tearing apart the dash and undoing the RCA conversion?
wow just bought it too,im hooking it up to a 2012 nissan sentra, also my bridged the speakers on the amp and when i seperated them left on left right on right only the right channel worked
? for car audio - on the Rockville RV12.1C 600w 12 inch. and others like it. I know you use the RCE out ports on a pioneer Stereo to connect to the RCA inputs on the amp, But do you not use the RCE outs on the amp unit to connect the amp to the sub that are there to use?, Do we just use the regular type speaker wire you strip to run from the amp to the sub speaker?
My question is which? Speaker wires do you use from the factory radio to hook? The line. In converter? Up. The front the rear left right? I don't know which one. Also i'm just trying to connect a four channel app 2 4door speakers in a 2020 kia sorento.

I have a pioneer head unit and the 4 speaker leads are used for my dash and front doors. Can I use the pre amp left and right door outs with an rca to speaker wire adapter? I would splice the front but that would drop ohms below recommend for head unit. Will the preamp out play the same?
you can splice into it anywhere along the speaker line aslong as its recieving the signal. all it does is reduces the voltage into a lower one the amp can use. speakers usually use around 10v where as the amp only needs 5v roughly
I'm looking at your LCF-500 on your eBay store but I have a couple of questions before I purchase this. I'm using a NVX XUBT4 Universal Bluetooth Receiver and Remote Control and a Taramps TL-500 2x50 Watts-RMS Mini Compact Car Amplifier Full Range 2-Channels Class-D 2-ohm Stabile...How can I get some advice how to wire this up using your LCF-500?
Question - I have a Pionereer DEH8600 BEH with sub woofer RCA outputs. I want to connect those RCA outputs to the 4 speaker wires on my Kicker PT250 Powered sub woofer. What is the best way to do this?
if i use the aftermarket headunit high level output for door speakers and use rca low level output subwoofer and amp gain set to the right voltage to preouts for my subwoofer but my door speakers is still way to loud compare to the subwoofer . what do i do?
Hello and great video.! My question had to do with a clean signal from the RCA. Now I have a LC7i connected via high level output with the RCA's going to my amp. I inquired with Audio Control and they told me the signal will be clean. I found out that my head unit by Levels is clean up to volume 27 with the high level outputs, and clean to volume 35, on the R C A's on back of the head unit. Since in running the high level through the LC7I, won't I get the same clean signal at volume 35 as of I just hooked up RCA's to the back of the head unit?
When using low level/sub outputs on a head unit: imagine it this way it is a 2/4volt output think of it as a water hose the noise on that line will be a pencil lead through the hose and the 2volt signal will be slightly bigger than the pencil lead so when that signal hits the amp both the noise and signal are amplified equally. with a 4volt rca signal the noise is same but the signal doubles its size. Then you go to speaker level outputs maybe up around 10volts but the noise is still that pencil lead size so the amp gets a fatter signal with the same level of noise as the other preamp outputs.. LOC's will amplify both signal and noise! Cheap head units simply use a resistor after the HU's amps so they arent actually pre-amp at all they are low or high level outputs still with noise. The idea to use speaker outputs is simply to not be amplifying the noise at the same ratio as the signal. Using one these LOC's is no different than using a old style active crossover with a speaker level input and setting the "input" to the off setting which cuts the signal down to a set voltage that is acceptable to most amplifiers. If that old school active crossover is used after an amp say for cars speakers you would set input to "on" this allows the power through, if used before a sub amp you would set the input to "off" chopping the signal voltage down and send the outputs to a mono/sub amp and the mid/high outputs to your multi channel amp if not using the HU's outputs to power any speakers.. The entire idea of these LOC's, passive and active crossovers with input control is to keep that pencil lead thickness from being amplified but to get the max voltage input the amplifier can take this reduces the amount of gain needed to reach the desired wattage output with the least amount of amplified noise. If the noise of the water hose is amplified you may hear hissing, window wipers cycles, engine rpm noises and many more. How bad are those noises for your equipment i cannot say but i imagine even if they are less than audible/noticeable that they are bad for your system. In my days RCA outputs was new and all the rave but now with modern equipment it is frowned upon to use the low-level or sub outputs due to amplifying the HU's noise. It is 100% preferred to have actual pre-amp HU outputs or use the speaker outputs and cut the voltage of that down to the level the amp can take. Doing that you may have 4-10volt input to the amp with a 1/4 width noise versus 2/4volt with an 1/1 width noise ratio. With all that said none of this will be louder or change where the HU's distortion comes in nor will it make your amp put out more than rated power unless it could have done that prior. What it will do is clean up the signal allowing your bass to hit harder because it isnt wasting energy to produce the noisy parts of the signal. That is the same effect you get when your setting the subsonic and LP filters correctly your amp isnt wasting energy to play 20hz or below tones you cannot hear or 180hz and higher tones that your mids are designed to play.. In both of those cases your subs hit a low impedance (high resistance) playing frequencies beyond what they are designed for which pulls massive power from the amp and dumps tons of heat in the amp/subwoofer to play those frequencies thusly when your 25-150hz bass note hits the energy was already wasted playing the sub 20hz and 180hz up signals and your bass note dont hit hard like it should. Keeping your equipment in the respective ranges it was designed for and playing the proper signals over the corresponding drivers is very important.. So many people out there have there LP set to as high as 250hz and those people cant tell the difference from a woofer and a subwoofer they can not be bothered to know the frequency ranges of those speakers/drivers. I could hand most people a 6x9 woofer and say this is a woofer and they would think im am BS'ing them. Anyway this long enough i hope it helps and good luck on your setup.
Great Video thanks. i have an 05 acura tl that has the an external amp stock and a dedicated 8"sub in the rear deck but its severely underpowered (40rms). i already replaced the sub with a pioneer shallow mount sub but it lacks. So could I line out just the subwoofer wire to an external amp and then run that back to the sub, increasing its RMS? It's a 19 step process to take the stock receiver out and I really dont have the time nor patience for that
What about how to amplify the RCA voltage. I have a clarion nx404 and it has audio out RCA connectors for rear source monitors, I used a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and hooked up headphones but you can barely hear the audio and there isn't any way to adjust rear source audio. Any suggestions?
I would like to put a powered subwoofer into my jeep liberty kk. The head unit has only the speaker outputs. No rca. Can I use one of the converters to tap the speaker wires and send an rca signal to the subwoofer without affecting the rest of the stereo?
I'm having factory fitted door speaker which has a good quality sound but the door panels starts vibrating so to overcome I've fitted Sony component speakers on the rear panel but its having a parallel connection to my rear door speaker hence no improvement in sound quality, by using one of these will I experience any sound enhancement. Please suggest something. I don't have an amp. Is it necessary to buy an amp for this type of connection or can I directly connect my speaker into those converters..
Wondering if anyone has had the same situation when installing a rca converter like im having. On initial start up of the radio i get bass playing from the speaker periodically for the first minute then it goes away and all sounds fine. Any ideas
Hi! Thanks for the vid. Question: I want to hook up a four ch. amp to power aftermarket (alpine type r) all four door speakers. Every video on here talks about hooking up subs. I have that amp and subs figured out. I need to find out how to do my other amp, for my door speakers. How do I take the wires from my stock head unit, without rca output, to go into my amp’s four channels of rca inputs? Thanks if you can answer this!
You wire the door speakers the left and right to the left and right channels off the amplifier. It's recommended to have an aftermarket head unit. For example my head unit has 3 sets of RCA Plugs. One for fronts, rears, and subwoofer. You'd run the Rca's from the amplifier to your head unit. If not possible...which it should be if you bought a nice enough head unit.
hi lessco i installed a converter like the third one in the video and after installing it when i turn on my headlights i get a loud consistent noise and the on the stereo dims and also i cant use my steering wheel controls and when the headlights are off there is no noise
I have aftermarket radio and I purchased sub and amp so I'm wondering if I can connect my blue remote amp wire to the remote wire on the good quality converter instead of running the wire to the back of my head unit?.
Hi, I found this informative, but I have a 2010 ford fusion sport, which comes with 2 factory amps and has a 12 speaker package. I currently bought 2, 12 inch terminator mtx audio with the terminator "tna 251" amp. Do you have any suggestions witch line out converter I should buy for my car???
can you please make a video step by step. ? My Caliber LT3F got 4 speaker wires + 2 rca connectors. ive got a Factory Cd player from an Toyota 2006 mod. There is alot of youtube videoes where ppl explain on how to do it, but its never shown. Hope you can make a video that show us step by step, how this works. How you connect them, how you cut the cables that goes from cd player etc. Thanks
hei bro after long time found w¡video which i really need ,so i have adapter and it has 8 wires L+- R+- 2gnd 12v and rem wire so my question is i understand about R+- L+- how to connect them with radio but where should i connect these two Gnd wires and remote and 12v wires with factory radio in bmw E46?? answer me plssss
What if your amp supports high level inputs and has remote turn on, do you still need to use line out converters or can you just tap into the speaker wire?
Or you could skip removing the dash just to install it. I find it better to remove the kick panel left or right doesnt matter. Tap in there and run the wires☺
Love your videos. I appreciate all your work. I will be buying from your ebay store. Getting ready pull the trigger on some compustar stuff right now. Question, stock stereos, I have read, change the bass out/E.Q.(not sure of terminology) lower as the volume increases to protect the stock speakers. Using just speaker wire to RCA, can you control bass level or do I need a line output control like an Audiocontrol LC7i. I have a 2012 Double cab Tacoma (w/o entune) and I want to add speakers (6 1/2" components front & rear, 10" sub, powered by 5 channel amp). If I plan on installing everything myself. Thank you in advance.
I totally agree with that, Now you have a nice truck and nice equipment as well. In your case I'd invest in that lc7i or a Memphis 16-6ix or something like that to get the absolute most out of the sound quality.
seriously i have a pioneer with sub hacks in the back can i run my speaker 1 '12'' strait to those jacks without an amp cause i can control the sub line separate from the stereo but dont want an amp
Glenn Seeley With the vast majority of aftermarket stereos, manufacturers deliberately cut down the voltage going out on the RCA jacks. This is because their noise levels at normal voltage are downright intolerable. This method gives the amp(s) the best and most clean signal possible.
the quality line level you speak of is a very basic step down. it doesn't have any type of filtration, just a ground for some noise. it's not the worst, but far from the best
the link shows the converter i bought axxessinterfaces.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=81&products_id=18&zenid=63251fafedd7a367658c00ddf1518f77

No problem 👍
Appreciate the help. There are several youtube videos that instruct viewer to just tape up the wires but I had a funny feeling they were wrong....nice to find a good explanation.
They are stupid. It dont play with good quality and you can blow amplifier .
Thanks! You make it straight to the point and exactly what we needed.
I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the video, but this is also a great solution for when it comes to bypassing the factory amp and hooking up an aftermarket one instead... especially if retaining the factory stereo. Will this work if you use a cut rca and connect it to the speaker wire without the converter

I have in my car. 2000 watts sub woofer and 1000 amp after market dvd and kenwood speakers +350 amp. so is that need to put converter or not ????
hi lessco i installed a converter like the third one in the video and after installing it when i turn on my headlights i get a loud consistent noise and the on the stereo dims and also i cant use my steering wheel controls and when the headlights are off there is no noise
+chileyman213 chileyman213 that converter has a defective choke in it most likely, I'd replace it.
I have aftermarket radio and I purchased sub and amp so I'm wondering if I can connect my blue remote amp wire to the remote wire on the good quality converter instead of running the wire to the back of my head unit?.
sure, thats ok, theres also line level converters that create one with an audio signal too, maybe worth a look...
@@Lesscoelectronics thank you
Hi, I found this informative, but I have a 2010 ford fusion sport, which comes with 2 factory amps and has a 12 speaker package.
I currently bought 2, 12 inch terminator mtx audio with the terminator "tna 251" amp. Do you have any suggestions witch line out converter I should buy for my car???
hey i just bought two yamaha hs50m studio monitors and im getting some hissing from ground loop?? not sure any suggestions?
Good and helpful video. I just want to ask is it ok to use that even I uses speakers at the end of the wires.
yes, thats not an issue.
Thank you...
anytime.
quiston can I use a inline output converter on a aftermarket radio
Great job men
one question what if i connect the power cable from converter into battery is converter will always on then? please help me out with this.
you shouldnt have to ever do that. at most they have ones that connect with the amp turn on lead, but NEVER constant
U say in you video that its also suitable for home theatre?
Does this include 125 watt speaker output? what is its limit?
I’m wondering this as well. I tried a similar converter to the last model on my home receiver and I couldn’t get any signal to come through actually.
can you please make a video step by step.
Thanks
Can I use this or something similar to run factory amp into aftermarket radio.
So does the blue remote wire go straight to the amp?
yes, to the amp turn on lead
My problem is preamp signal from car Bose system, has very low signal, what to do now?
Probably take it to a repair shop
Sheeesh. These days the cheapest ones cost like 15 bucks. Take me back!
Is there some cheap rca adapter to connect computer with speakers. ?

+Moreno Singh use a test light, locate them in the harness and connect them accordingly. You always have to test wires.
oh thanx for replying but its bit late..i did it
but thanx
Moreno Singh can you give me any advise on colour coordination for the bmw wiring harness and how you went about doing it!?!?
thank you. u answered my question
What if your amp supports high level inputs and has remote turn on, do you still need to use line out converters or can you just tap into the speaker wire?
In that case you tap off the speaker wires and connect that amps high level audio input, wire up the turn on lead and youre done.
How can I hookup 2 amps off the same speaker wires?
@@UltraCon79 dude all AM amplifier comes with aux out !!!!!!!!!
Can I buy the good one
In your case I'd invest in that lc7i or a Memphis 16-6ix or something like that to get the absolute most out of the sound quality.
if i connect one of those converters will i be able to connect my iphone or mp3 to that rca and get the audio out?
seriously i have a pioneer with sub hacks in the back can i run my speaker 1 '12'' strait to those jacks without an amp cause i can control the sub line separate from the stereo but dont want an amp
I have 4 channel do I double them
you should be using a 4 channel loc or 2: 2 channel loc's..
Only reason I would need to do that would be the RCA's on my expensive stereo stopped working for my amp.
Glenn Seeley With the vast majority of aftermarket stereos, manufacturers deliberately cut down the voltage going out on the RCA jacks. This is because their noise levels at normal voltage are downright intolerable. This method gives the amp(s) the best and most clean signal possible.
No help mine don't work when plugged all the way in
the quality line level you speak of is a very basic step down. it doesn't have any type of filtration, just a ground for some noise. it's not the worst, but far from the best
Sorry to say that good video but 1st step please clear this how to connect
New York accent?
the link shows the converter i bought

sure, my site is lesscosales.com
Splicing direct from rca to speaker wires is the cheapest. But leaves you with the worst option for unwanted noise.
