I take the new Cleveland RTX RipCore Wedge out onto the golf course to test hitting from turf & various different shots to see how it performed. I talk technology and provide my personal feedback on the looks and feel.
Big thanks to Appleby Golf Club in Cumbria for allowing me to use the course to film!

Nice to see your swing out on the course, looks great
These are the best wedges I have ever owned. The feel and overall performance is amazing. Durability is noticeably better too. I’ve owned my wedges for about a month now, and they still look great. So many shots within gimme range too, which is a great indicator of how consistent these things are.
Nice to see you outside on the course, Mike. Great content as usual and boy have you got a short game 🙌
Great tunes to accompany the video too.
Lucky you are to be able to go on course currently... So hard to choose the best wedges. I used to play with 4 of them and even then I wasn't satisfied. As you mentioned, loft is one thing, but bounce is an other. And as you can't have 8 wedges in your bag I'll go for a wedge fitting as soon as lockdown is over. Thanks from Paris.
Mike, I don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers. I hope you keep growing. Your content is excellent.
Also, these wedges look awesome! I still have the RTX 3s and I love them.
Thank you 😃
Lovely looking wedges
Great video Mike, and some awesome short-game shots demonstrated 🙌🏻. It’d be good to see what you think of the Cleveland CBX2 wedges also ...
Nice video Michael. Course looks good as do the wedges and a tidy short game to boot.⛳🏌️👌🏼 I would definitely consider the zipcore wedges, still using Mizuno jpx which I love but getting on a bit now
love the on course content
Thanks
Excellent content as always. Thanks
Thanks Martin
Great review Michael some would kill for your short game mate 😱👍
Thanks Steve
I always enjoy a knock round Appleby
Stuart is a great guy!
Oops see it is the name of a course
Michael, were the wedges fit to your specs lie, length or off the shelf? If so, what length and lie did you use? They look very nice.
Been going back and forth between the CBX and RTX. This might have sealed the deal. Now just deciding on the black or satin. Love the black but concerned about durability.
Enjoyed your review Michael. What wedges do you currently play and would you consider the zipcore wedges as I'm undecided between these and the vokeys
Thanks Steve.....currently got the Vokey SM8’s in the bag which I really like but these ZipCores are as good as in my opinion.
Wedge fitting unless outside makes me nervous. I spent £600 on 3 Edel wedges after an indoor fitting and they were dreadful in course, turf interaction was total different. On a may they skid if you chunk them Edel claimed you couldn’t chunk them as they were 22 bounce! I managed! Some of it was technique for sure but it never happened with my RTX3
How do you fit Mike?
Hi Andy.....agree. Typically start in the studio with TrackMan for gapping and measuring angle of attack etc then jump outdoors for the creative little shots around the green. Test in different lies, opening the up etc.
Interested in how they felt. Did they give you a ‘forged’ feel or more of a ‘cast’ feel. I’m currently playing the Mizuno T7 wedges (50, 54, 58) and they feel firm. Maybe a softer ball? I usually play Callaway Chrome Soft.
For me they feel as good and as soft as a forged wedge
@@MichaelNewtonGolf thank you so much!
What's the common stock shaft that come with these? United states
I know it’s not always practical but much rather these on course tests.
Totally agree
I see the Srixon bag , does that mean your playing the new zx line?
No, had this Srixon bag for several years now!!
@@MichaelNewtonGolf if you don’t mine me asking witb? Your one of my favs btw
ripcore
Michael, not to be picky but they are called "Zipcore"
I was just about to say this. I saw the video and was like "Did CG release another wedge? Whats next? Dipcore? Maybe Gripcore? 😄
Haha good spot! 🙈
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Got me a new putter. Its a Lipripcore 😄 just kidding man, great video as always!
Michael Newton Golf really like the name Rip Core better. Rip it back vs zip it back.
Interesting why you don’t have wilson wedges
THose wedges...are they standard length ?
Ripcore, eh?
to be honest, RipCore would have been much cooler.
Nice informercial - I turned it off at 2:09.
I like your other videos and subscribed, so don't think i'm here to bash, (im just giving u my opinion)
