For people who do not like this type of music do NOT bother coming here to dislike this , stay away !!! I listened to this song 5 times already today . VERY GOOD WORK !!!
you don't wanna grow and evolve? why not listen to people who like this kinda stuff and come here, but leave a "dislike", what they didn't like? wouldn't that help and broaden your own approach?
@@ajang2005 If you are at an art gallery and dislike a piece, would you go to the artist and tell him what he could have done better? This is so weird. So no, I would't care. And I don't care if anyone doesn't like my music. It's a matter of taste. You like it? Cool. You don't? Cool. :)

Modern gear through a lovely vintage desk. I so wanted that SECK desk back in the late 80s. By the 90s I couldn't find one and ended up with the original Mackie CR1604 (which I still have but it;s not very well...), I an delighted to see that your SECK is still going strong and sounding great. Oh wow! A Jupiter 6 too!
Main FX for dub chords are delay and reverb obviously. Phasers and moving filters are also great. It's about experimenting with the routing a lot. Filters after the delay? Yeah, why not. I always try to keep a simple chord loop interesting over time. And then add some other things to taste.
Man that was great! Can you please help us and do a studio setup tutorial??? I have a very similar studio and struggling to use guitar pedals effectively.. without plugin them to the device I use..
Thank you :) For the effect pedals, I use a patchbay (synth > patchbay > fx 1, 2, 3... > mixer) and i use the group inserts of my mixer. Lets see if i find the time to do a short tutorial. If you have further questions just pm me :)
Sounds excellent. I read that dub was originally referred to as a copy (dub) of reggae music with the vocals removed and accented drum and bass often with spring reverb and tape echo from the 1970's Roland RE 201 Space Echo and was originally played at Jamaican dancehalls. It would be interesting to find out how it became dub techno.
It's primarely the overdubbing of the track with fx that makes it dub. It's called dub mixing, where you would usually take stems from a track (and it doesn't have to be reggae) and run them back through a mixer that you'll play like an instrument by tweaking the sends and using the faders. It's about leaving room for the effected sounds. That's why dub versions of a reggae track is often sparse on vocals compared to the original. Dub techno though is more about creating (deep) techno with a dubby vibe. Some producers do more dub mixing than others. Some just tweak the fx boxes and instruments, and others just uses automation itb or almost none which is also totally valid to create a dubby vibe (or maybe rather just a spacey vibe), even though it's not actual dub mixing.
Very good explanation of nym053. For the origin of dub techno, check out "Rhythm and Sound" with tracks like "Mango Drive" I think these Basic Channel guys where the first doing this.
That was a pretty ace set! Also a good promo for the Rocket; didn't knew that it could sound so good! Is it just the Rocket + delay, or is the signal path more complex? And can I ask what the black unit sitting in between your mixer and computer keyboard? Some kind of filter/phaser? Thanks and keep your movies coming!
Thank you :) I think it was just the Rocket through the small stone and a delay. That black thing is the Roland Bitrazer modul. I indeed use it mainly for filter action.
its like a forest of dub techno ....beautiful....electronically organic wind, birds, trees....quality track. Considering OT if the price is "affordable":)...(surprised to see the key step tho...sequencing? master clock?)....by the way that remix of Lars was/is amazing!
amazing, your mix sounds so good, great balance of all elements - so you sequence using the octatrack? and record multi channels into ableton from the desk ?
Thank you :) No DAW was involved due the recording. Its just the stereo sum from the mixer to the computer. I used Cubase for mastering the file though, which was quite difficult and I ended up with lots of EQ plugs. I tried multitracking a few times, but I prefer this way. Its a moment in time :)
yep it's a good tool for what :) You learn very fast OT, weldone! I agree with you, amazing machine, I use my OT on Master machine, and all my synth with midi tracks from OT ;)
I had much respect because people all over the webs are writing it is hard to learn. but i think its super logical. you can't start right away of course, but a few tutorials (cuckoo
It is not. You may basically do all of this with just a laptop and Ableton. I just find it is way more fun this way as I'm doing this since 25 years now. And collecting a bit of hardware over such a big time period is affordable. I'm not going on vacation often though.
@@basicnoise technically speaking, you could achieve the same outcome by just writing it all in 1s and 0s, but one is way more convenient and prone to spike creativity than the other innit! Do you ever use CDJs or is that not your thing just wondering?
The serial/parallel options are really nice and the overall sound very good. I yet sold it, because I love to play with delay time and it didn't behave like an analog or tape delay, so no pitch effect when turning the time knob. The Flashback II does that now, but there was no way to upgrade the algorithms on the Triple. But that's the only thing I can complain about. It sounded great and with the serial options, there where some lush and trippy things going on.
Really cool and nice dubby and deep track Peter ;) Your studio is very clean, I'm jalous, where is your cables???!!! I need to learn your technic with the OT slider!
Haha, I'll send you a picture from under the hood :D That slider thing is mostly for just bringin in the tracks volume. This way i dont have to mess around to find the original volume value for each track.
yeah, i checked that out, but didn't have use for it now. But this was the first thing i did with the machine. so much more possibilities to explore. So glad i didn't went for the Digitakt. The day i realised the octa has 8 STEREO tracks, the descision was made. This way it can totally replace the DAW.
good stuff.. wow! roughly 10 grands paid for gears I expected something more, than drum&bass but still sounds OK, check Somnio Rabbit, maybe the melodic line will get you inspired, old Darth Vader stuff....use your feelings, not only the buttons....

what on earth is that mixer you are using in this dude?
A very old "Seck" Desk. Like it a lot, but noisey as hell :)
whats playing the pads coming in at 4:00 ???
I think it's just a sample, somehow mangled through the Octatracks engine.

basicnoise the hiss like tape hiss , white noise.
I thik it was some kind of atmo sample with OTs lofi and phaser effects added.
and of course there is some noise going on if you use analog gear and guitar fx stuff.
that pad is amazing , what u used . ?
I can't remember. I filled tho OT with samples right before i did this, so it may be just a sample. The OT brings so many options to edit samples ..
This is deep techno not dub
Maxim Paseka I never said this is dub.
