Estepona lies 75 km from Malaga airport located between the sea and the Sierra Bermeja mountains.
Estepona has a much more authentic atmosphere with typical Andalucian whitewashed houses with balconies decorated with flowers. Originally a fishing village, Estepona has developed as a mainly Spanish resort.
In the old town the streets are still cobbled and its famous for its attractive architecture and traditional houses, whilst along the seafront runs a very pretty promenade lined wih palm trees and flowers.

At the western end of the Paseo Maritimo is Estepona's charming port and harbour that is located only a short walk from town. There are 7 ruins of watchtowers along the beaches, these are either Castilian or Muslim in origin and formed the defence of the coast upto the 19thCentury. The beaches stretch along its 21 km coastline.
The 18th century Church of Los Remedios in the Plaza de San Francisco was once a Franciscan monastery. The bull ring, on the outskirts of the town, has four museums in it one of which has has an interesting collection of bullfighting memorabilia. (There is no admission charge)
