Thanks David! I thought the days of them opening in October were over. First time I can remember it being open in 10 years or so. Fingers crossed they open it again next season! Angler pressure was actually kind of low.
Fantastic, Blake. I sadly didn't even think to check about DFW possibly opening up the miniseason for wild fish. They sure look healthy, beautiful catches. Did you end up eating the mackeral?
Blake if you ever want to camp and do Bouy 10 I recommend Vista park in Skamokawa to camp and launch at. We were the camphosts there the year before we left WA. Good people there
That's awesome you were able to catch salmon without a flasher. I've done it with a flasher and a hoochie (no downrigger setup). Curious if you know how deep you're getting without the flasher?
Hey Blake, where did you launch at? Only fished out of Sekiu once a long time ago out of Van Ripers. Looks like you had fun, I've got a 15ft BW Dauntless that I obtained over the spring and outfitted for Salmon trolling. Live in Des Moines.
Hey Steven! I launched out of Mason's Resort. I think they're all good to launch from. All charge $15 so far as I know. I usually go Mason's because there are several launches.
Hi Patricia! Over the last 10 years, that's what I usually take. Depends on the conditions. Most of the time fine. Often what happens in a 14 footer is you get blown off the water around noon. Which if you were fishing first light, ain't so bad.
@@Augie-57 I had 15 and 25s. 15 totally fine, of course 25 got me around faster. They rent big thick 16 foot boats out of Van Ripper's Resort and they run on 15s.
These are Frazer river hatcher fish. When I fish which was last 2 weeks in Sept. I had caught several that had implants in there head. I was there when the Olson's had the marina. There is no such thing as a wild salmon since the indians took over the hatchers.
Yeah, it can be a little frustrating. I don't usually get into the rules on my channel. But I feel like I catch so many wilds, it'd be better for the fish if we could just retain them. It at least on wild. I think the mortality calculation is .25 for each released fish. I could be wrong on that tho. But I feel like I'll release 4-6 wilds easy in September.
Awesome!
thank you as always Mr. Cruz!
I come for the fishing but I come back for the soundtrack… nice job out there.
Thanks Troy! Just bought a couple new tracks, so I appreciate that!
Good work!
Not the Tom Green Show! Ha ha. Thanks Bryce!
BEEUTIFUL fish !!👍
thank you Mom-- love you more!
Digging your new questing jams
I super appreciate that! I like em too. I shell out $4 or $5 per track so I can use em royalty free. So I love that feedback!
Beautiful fish!!!!! :)
thank you so much Ilona!
@@WAFishQuest No problem 🙂
Awesome job thank you for sharing. Have a great day
Thank you Mark! It was an excellent day. Perfect really. Should keep my satiated for many months!
Wild coho retention is the best. Nice job out there.
Thank you NWOS! Totally agree. It's my favorite fishery. The simplicity! The view! The fightttt!
Looks like a great time! Thanks for sharing
Thank you Heading South! I love to share when I actually catch a fish, ha ha.
Nice!
Thank you Mike!
My favorite place, wish I was there with you!
Thanks Ron! When the Strait is calm like that, tough to beat!!
Learned something new. Didn't know there was a wild retention in October. I will be there next year. Thanks Blake.
It is only this year
Thanks David! I thought the days of them opening in October were over. First time I can remember it being open in 10 years or so. Fingers crossed they open it again next season! Angler pressure was actually kind of low.
Great editing. I hardly looked like the fishing spaz I am. Super fun trip. Absolutely agree Macerel are worth targeting. 😂
Thanks Tony! Somehow I didn't record my b-roll footage. Super grateful you took me along!
Great video as always my man 👏🏾👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽👏🏼
thank you as always Calvin! As you can see from the video I'm still a boatless fool!
Wow! Cool by catch on the mackerel
Thanks Khan! I caught another one too. I'm going to do an episode on them either next week or the week after.
awesome fish Blake. Also love that whaler!
thank you Kobe! I had never been in a Whaler-- they live up to the hype!
I can't wait to see the episode on Pacific Jack Mackerel.
thank you Jarom! This gives me some incentive to get editting! ha ha
Loved your video, especially being able to see the fish strike.
Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed it!
The thunderclap on the takedown made me chuckle 😅
Nice fish!
that was the sound it actually made Jesse! Well, in my heart anyway. ha ha, thank you!
Awesome job, Blake. I need to learn how to do that on my boat one of these days
Thanks Adam! If you can troll between 2.8 and 3.5 mph there's nothing too. People group up out there once they find a school.
Nice I bet they will cut great too!
Thank you! They sure did. Chery red and fat!

thanks as always Corbfisher! Yes I did! I'll post that episode next Monday (it's a catch and cook).
80 ft ok I was thinking maybe you had your drag to loose 😅 🎉good work😊
Funny you say that! I did at first. Lolz. Thank you!

I super appreciate the Intel! I really do need to hit buoy 10 some day. Biggest salmon I ever caught, I caught out there!
Love your videos I fish in B. C. we have similar fisheries only allowed 2 hatchery coho but still worth getting out there
Thank you Big BC! I love the name!
I fished Sekiu back in the 80s. When it was good.
Darn I was out there too!
Oh man. I missed Klos-time!
@@WAFishQuest solid fishing, next year!

Thank you! I do not. I do need to figure that out some day... Good idea for a video! Fyi I caught my second of the day on an 8 once banana weight.

1st like.....
I'm not sure if I've ever gotten a "first" comment like I see on big channels. Thank you Mark- I feel like I've made it!
Blake, how would a 14 foot Lund do out there?

What horse outboard did you have? Thinking 15 or 20🤔

Every coho of size I hooked in the salt this year I lost 😢
Bummer! For what it's worth, that was my last season. Weird you can just have a garbage season. The big one I lost was totally on me too!
Which date was this? I was watching the weather closely and decided not to go due to the wind forecast,
Hi La Gu! We arrived Sunday, the 2nd I think? Was a busy stretch of days so I may be wrong. The forecast was way off (to our good fortune).

Was there last year on a kayak, 8 wild and one hatchery, very strange how they manage it
