I was blessed enough to see Cozy play those drums on that tour!…R.I.P. Cozy,..X
I remember seeing Cozy on the Saints & Sinners tour. One of the best drummers that I've ever seen, alongside Neil Peart.
He also played with Mike Schenker Group.
Cozy is my fav drummer ever
Cozy was awesome and that Whitesnake album really blew me away. Loved the sound..what a great mix.
R.I.P. Cozy........you left so unjustly !!!!!!
I got to see Cozy Powell live with ELP back in '86.....what an amazing drummer 🤘🤘🤘
Me too! Hampton, VA
I also did, San Antonio Tx,,, I love the live video of him in the Jeff Beck Group!!!
I was there in Rock in rio 1985, Cozy's drums hit me in the chest through the gigantic PA, a lifetime experience!! Thanx Thanx for the oportunity to see closely this piece of music history, thank you!!
Two of my fave drummers right here! Bob is SO humble considering how great and tasteful his drumming is and what can we say about you Mike that hasn't already been said RIP Cozy!
Can't believe I missed this and I live down the road , I've Played a good few gigs at the Robin ,great venue....
Love the subtitles Mike "Red in " its actually Reading....😁😁😁
History right there , kit sounds great still....🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Mike and Bob for a drum history tour of Cozy Powell's former drums! NICE !
Уважаемый Майк! Поздравляю Вас с Днём рождения! Желаю крепкого здоровья, счастья, успехов в творчестве. Очень нравится ваш талант!
Hey I worked on the British stage lighting crew on the UK leg of this tour. Recall Ian Paice, Jon Lord , Cozy Powell , David Coverdale but not the rest.
I was at that concert in Rock in Rio on January 11th 1985. Great memories, Cozy was a brilliant drummer and his drum kit was amazing!
I love the “Slide it in” album by “Whitesnake”, still one of my favorite albums of all time. Yes, there was Cozy Powell, but also John Sykes.
What a beautiful piece of music history 🇨🇦
Thanks for this video, Mike. Great history lesson on those big ol tubs. Makes me want to play right this second!🤘
Don't forget MSG. A great live album. The extended cd version has Cozy's solo
Thank you Mike for the so pure English.
Awsome! I saw Cozy with Rainbow a couple of times. Two songs with the Dio lineup, cuz Ritchie walked off stage after two songs in New York City...ass. And once with Graham Bonnet. A true powerhouse!
Saw Cozy behind the kit on that 1984 tour in Brighton, aged 16. My first ever rock and metal gig. It was loud!!
I was a backline tech on a gig in Merthyr FC ground, I think it was May 2008 and I helped Bob set his kit up. That's the only time I have met him though we're on the same circuit. He's VERY well thought of and respected amongst all musicians and drummers of South Wales. Wish I knew him better. He's a cracking drummer indeed!!
Awesome!
Awesome didn't know there was a Cozy party 1st heard Cozy with Jeff Beck and his whitesnake videos really showed his intense accuracy, always a fan , I have a ingwie malmsteen album that I believe was Cozys last work
Facing the Animal 😀👍
Everything about this video was great! 🙏
❤Gracias por éste vídeo Maestro Terrana Felicidades!!❤🎉
Such a pleasure watching & listening
Thank You! 🖒🖒\m/
I saw him with Rainbow on the Down to Earth tour with BOC and I saw him with MSG and Black Sabbath.....absolutely amazing drummer!
Wooowooow really great stuff really history thanks for sharing Mike 🥁🥁❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙂
Saw him with Black Sabbath, back in ´89 with Headless cross.
happy birthday Cozy
Totally cool
WOW,FANTASTIC.
I saw cozy in 77 with rainbow in SF. They opened for REO Speedwagon
incredible, this kit was at Rock in Rio 85, in my country.
Ich liebe Gear-Fanatics. Klasse Video. Ich meine irgendwo ein Video zu erinnern wo neben dem Drumset auf der Bühne von Cozy noch ein weiteres! Ersatz-Pedal steht ("just in case something goes wrong").
Só os brabos
OUTSTANDING gig🤟
Always thought must be a nice guy.
...animal lovers always are now I know it for sure. Great drummer !! Saw him in Super Drumming also. Was on TV long time ago. Simon Phillips...lots of other drummers. Also filmed in a Church. Think it was a German program. I am a 65 Dutch guy...anyone remembering this too 😊😊
It was a program of Pete York 😊...ARD Germany.
I have also the Superdrumming LP Album.⚫..🤓 Simon Phillips and Ian Paice were also in the show...It was end of the 1980s..
Uma lenda🇧🇷🇧🇷
Big Mike Big Cozy
Bello.😭
❤
Cozy was incredible
Enjoy have a great night
That is amazing I've always wondered what happened to that kit can somebody please tell me whatever became of the red sparkle Ludwig kid he played with rainbow
2x26 BD, 2x15 upfront and 2x18 floors. That kit was built to crush!
👏👏👏👏
Saw Cozy with Black Sabbath..👍🤘
OK, so I play and I’m pretty good but what blows my mind? Is the size of the drum shells that the great mostly UK drummers used! Maybe outside of Ian Paste and I know that these great drummers had standard size kits as well but on tour these mammoth kits I don’t get the ergonomics, but they made it work and damn well indeed mates!
🥁🥁🥁👏👏👏
🤝
He also played drums for Bedlam!
Saw him a few times with e.g. Rainbow, MSG, Whitesnake. No compromise drummer who played with the best guitar players out there
Mr. Colin "Cozy Powell" Trevor Flooks 🥁
🇧🇷
mike ,when is the universe reunion?
Why two 15 toms e two 18floor toms? They were tuned differently?
drummer myself since near 50 years ( always played 2 bass drums by the way...., 1st time i see 2 toms same size and 2 floors same size ....really weird ....have so much respect for Cozy but ....what's that ?
I had the same kit, same finish, sold it and went long distance truck driving.......on reflection, not the greatest idea I ever had.
26x14 kicks. Don't see 'em that shallow, often.
X14" was the standard until 80's...
@@Zaraduba I started playing in '83 and didn't know that.
Believe it 😉@@JacksonAxe
Cozy also played Premier Drums for years.
No he didn't. Was on Ludwig with e.g. Jeff beck and solo. Moved to Yamaha at the start of whitesnake finish of Rainbow
@@markrushton1516Yeah,i mostly remember him playing Yamaha.
He moved about 1980. Yamaha started with a high end line and he was one of their first big endorsers.
@@markrushton1516 Dude, there was an advertisement in Modern Drummer magazine showing him endorsing a Premier drum kit.
Maybe he did briefly at some point. Certainly played their bass drum pedals but the red sparkle Ludwig was their from Jeff Beck to Rainbow. Moved to Yamaha during there Rainbow era then with them all the way to his death.
A SHoP iN RED😂
Wasn't he the original drummer of Journey
💪🏻👏🏻🤘🏻🫶🏻
I'm sol glad I didn't get to hear the kit. :\
*_"GREAT GOOGLIE, MOOGLIE!!"_* What a historic drum kit for sure!!
*HOWEVER...* IF I MAY... a little "constructive criticism..." Soooo, the video was respectable and to the point, ALBEIT... you shot it in
*_"PORTRAIT MODE"_* ( Phone camera in a pure vertical position...)
Had you shot it in *_"LANDSCAPE MODE,"_* (Phone camera in a pure horizontal position...) you would have captured a much better field of view, OR A much better video with respect to the entire drum set, drum stage and the entire surrounding area!! So, just for "💩's and 😅's," from now on, try shooting all videos in *_"LANDSCAPE MODE..."_*
It's really funny but a cheap drum set today is like the best one could get in the 70's. Drums have come a long way.
Upright video...No thank you. People please stop these.
yamaha, crappy drums. ANy drum the mounting pipe goes into the drum, or metal bass drum hoops. lol. junk
I caught a drumstick from cozy on the slide it in tour I still have it to this day,I got it at the Richfield coliseum in Richfield Ohio, the rock hall wanted me to donate it for their stick collection and I said no I couldn’t part with it,rip cozy you are missed my friend!!!!!!
Thanks mike your a legend in youre own right my friend!!!
