One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
I Feel For You by Chaka Khan
written and composed by Prince (1979)
produced by Arif Mardin (1984)
featured the Yamaha DX7 II FD, the Oberheim OB-Xa and the Moog Source
This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers.
Check out the original songs with the original artists here on UA-cam.
Thank you.

🎹🙌✨
Fantastic!!! I like this Retro Sound.😍
Thank you my dear friend.
Have a great evening!
@@retrosound72 With such cool music, every evening will be a great 100% Soulful❤🔥
Wow, that's amazing! Is it true a DX1 was used ? Your recreation is great.
Excellent recreation, which put the light on the complexity of this arrangement.
Thanks a lot.🙌
Great recreation! In 1984 this sounded like the future, and it still does 40 years later. I always thought it sounded a little bit in parts like The System's mega-classic Don't Disturb This Groove, and then I found out David Frank was playing some of the keyboards on this so it all makes sense.
Agree with you.
Thank you for watching
I was about to post that it was indeed David Frank who played the synth bass on this song. Incidentally, he also played synth bass on Sussudio by Phil Collins and Genie In a Bottle by Christina Aguilera, just to name a couple.
OBERFETT! ❤ Ich kann das in der Geschwindigkeit nicht mehr spielen. 😅 Ohne Worte 😶 L G Majo
Lange nicht mehr hier gesehen. Viele Grüße 🎹✌️
This is excellent, a very good version with great sounds. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 🎹🙌
Prince was a very talented writer. I LOVE The Source, my favourite mono ever, but didn't they use a Mini on the actual track? Great job, that Oberheim sounds amazing, so warm and full of character.
Thank you for your feedback. :)
I enjoy in this , for sure ! Evan Chaka will give y a compliment , i think ! May be , i think a bit more reverb & delay on fast OB chording , around 3.34 ? It will be nice to hear your production of '' Ain't no body '' . Rufus recently sounds with modern digital synths , didn't enpress me , Pozdrav !
Thank you
Awesome! That harmonica patch was used all over the place in the 80s. I imported a DX7 file into my Korg Kronos and in loaded fine. Converted it to a program and added some effects. Sounds just like it. Used it on What's Love got To Do with It - Tina Turner.
Yes. Thank you 🎹🙌
Chaka Khan, let me rock you
Let me rock you, Chaka Khan
Let me rock you, that's all I wanna do
Chaka Khan, let me rock you
Let me rock you, Chaka Khan
Let me rock you, let me feel for you awesome, love it.
🎹👍
I still feel 4 U, Chaka Khan! Did U know that the very first release that used a TB-303 in it´s instrumentation was a Chaka Khan track from 1983. It is unrecogniseable in the mix cos the producer tried to use it like it was a dedicated bass synth. 😃 Thanks for this faithful interpretation of this classic!
Vielen lieben Dank.🙌
Das wusste ich noch nicht 👍
Love these recreations. I'd really like to know what settings are used for the DX7 'bell' like sound, starting at 00:44? Is it a processed TUB ERUPT or something else? Thanks.
Thank you for your feedback. I use self programming stuff here.
Vary good work, sound like a DMX drum machine on the original though.. But one cannot own all types of equipments :)
Thank you
so many great synth sounds on the original (bass, brass/stabs, bell, sequencer) and in my own top 5 favourites for synth sounds. tough job recreating that but that's a good job.
Thank you so much!
Well done. Very close to the original. It‘always interesting to see which gears were used.
@@dissident4117 thanks a lot
Thanks PRINCE, CHAKA KHAN and MELLE MEL
🙌
Super cool, Chaka Khan...and again pure goosebumps. Whenever such hits come along, so many memories come back. Fantastic my friend🔥🔥🔥👌🎧✨🤍💫
Thank you for your kind words
@@retrosound72 you welcome 🔥🔥🔥😎✌️
wild, i was just thinking about this song minutes ago, and then this video pops up in my feed
:)))
thank you
Ух, прям так и веет 80-ми. Какое приятное классическиое звучание. 👍
Спасибо большое 🎹🙌
Классная работа! Great sound! DX7 is blowing mind! 😇
Спасибо большое мой друг 🎹🙌
El classico!🙏👍👌🥳❤️🎵🎶🕺i feel for u!🎹🎹🎹👏💪🤘🤩
Thanks a lot 🎹🙌✨
Such a great song and a brilliant cover! A real pleasure to listen to! 👏🙌
Thank you so much 🎹🙌
Oh, this is one of my fav tunes of all time, I used to spin on my back in those days…seriously…ha. Thanks for doing this, you’re really versatile :)
Thank you so much 🎹🙌
nice video & great channel!
Thank you for your feedback 🎹🙌
Wow! well done man... well done!
Thanks a lot 🙌
Chaka Khan ❤
yes.
love the song.
Fantastic!! Thanks a million for this (If I may venture an ex pro tip: perhaps give playing the bass with two hands (almost bongo like) a try: Twice the bounce for the song and twice the fun for you! If you need a real serious pro to back my little suggestion there's a Greg Philinganes YT video where he demonstrates this.) Vorsprung Durch the Mix!
Thank you. 🙌🎹
Two hands works better yes but not easy for me 😁
Awesome 😊😊
Thank you ✌️
What a fantastic demo of this song. Love the sound of the DX7. Just love the way many different make synths come together and make a great sound together. Really enjoyed this demo it’s very different to what you do on here. Love the sound of analog and digital coming together on this track. Once again you nailed it and you’re a fantastic musician. Love what you do and thank you for sharing this beautiful demonstration of a classic track. I bought this single when it came out. Thank you for the time you put into doing this for us. Top channel and top man.
Thank you so much Michael. I really appreciate your feedback. Yes a wonderful 80s classic and a great synth song. Composer was Prince and you can hear the style I think. Analog and Digital together is ✨🎹🙌
❤
🎹🙌✨
Great work!
One thing I'm curious about, in 80s music I'd often hear what sound like DX bells, but paired with a voice sample. Was that a patch preset / common sample, or just a regular pairing? Any idea?
yes. The Emulator EII library is full of DX sound samples layered with voice samples
@@retrosound72 Thank you, that’s intrigued me for years. Paul Hardcastle seemed to use the kind of sound a lot in the 80s and it’s fascinated me ever since.
Well done!
Thank you
It's weird, but I can hear the aging of the instruments in the music. It's eerily beautiful.
Soulful.
Thanks a lot
Wow.. you did really well with that one. some really complicated stuff going on there. Well done that man
Thank you so much
You almost get the impression that these are the same synthesizers and drum machine that belonged to Arif. I also dig the cross pollination of how Arif had also collaborated with Phil Collins whose own “Susudio” was a nod to Prince who originally recorded this song. I made the mistake of thinking Prince produced Chaka’s version.
Yes it sounds so.
Thank you for your time
absolutely awesome work! love it...... thus music was my youth
Thank you so much!
If anyone knows the toothless dance meme the first part sounds like the song.
😁😁😁
Nailed it!
Thank you! :)
Fantástica versión, suena genial, muy lograda. Ésta música siempre me gustó. Saludos desde Getafe, España
Thank you for your kind words 🎹🙌
Prince! (He wrote it)
Yes
@@retrosound72Great job on this!
Hey Retro King -that is super awesome. Brilliant as well!
Thank you so much 🎹🙌
awesome as always. but it does sound like the poor Moog struggles to hit the right pitch every time. I guess at my age I do too!
Google "Crazy Source Syndrome". When a heat spot is on the Moog the tuning changes always. It's Vintage. It's the soul. 🎹😅
Muito bom. Perfeito !
Thanks a lot!
