Andy Kershaw once called Half Man Half Biscuit "the most authentic English folk group since The Clash". HMHB analyse and detail the minutiae of British general behaviour and idiosyncrasies to such levels that must utterly baffle any non-native not familiar with living here. They provide a humorous, sarcastic, sardonic and facetious view of what life is like in the UK.
As a dedicated Biscuiteer it made my day seeing this video in my feed. Many thanks.

PPS Best lead break of all their songs in my humble opinion is to be found on the track "Improv workshop mimeshow gobshite" from the "This Leaden Pall" album.

One of those bands like Toy Dolls or The Mac lads or Peter and the Test Tube Babies who will always have a following cause they’re just so funny and if you see them live you will jump about and sing along and have a great time. Not so sure their humour works so well unless you have loads of drunken friends around, but they are still fun to listen to.

Their version of Tim Buckley's 'Song to the Siren' has to be heard to be believed.

HMHB will confuse the hell out of most Amreicans, There are many brits dont get them. Have a listen to Oblong of dreams from their 2022 album. Arguably their best song yet.
Just dropped in because of the hmhb song. Lolling at the American being baffled. English folk music just about sums it up. Dont worry Dude, If you aint english, it aint gonna make any sense. They do a lot of different stuff. Totally agree about the lead guitar. Awesome - check out National Shite Day for a great lead.
I saw HMHB in Oxford back in 2012. I spoke briefly with Nigel before the gig, and he told me I was only the second American he knew of who'd attended one of their shows. I certainly don't get all of their references (who does?) but they're dead funny and the gigs are a riot. Love them completely.
