im trying to get fabric printed to make custom dog bandanas with a print i've designed myself! i'm very new to the fabrication process and am normally just a basic illustrator -- but this is all great information to help get started! :-)

🎀👏🏻 good! Yeah I’m so happy to finally be able to print black prints!
I've only purchased from Art Fabrics once but I think I've been converted to it lol. It's so comfortable(I ordered the Peachskin Jersey fabric), the print is so vibrant and I love it. I think the only setback for me is that it isn't in a continuous print, instead it's only printed per meter but it's not that big of a deal for me and also I think because the knit I ordered is kinda stretchy, there was a bit of a printing mistake with one of the meters I ordered but they added some length to that one and it isn't like what I made from that piece will be visible to other people when I wear it. I look forward to ordering from them again at some point!! I also think I made the print a little too big but again, I don't really expect anyone to look at what I made from it so it isn't that big of a deal for me and I've since fixed the size issue so it shouldn't happen again.
It's also given me the excuse to draw more often, I have a few ideas lined up to order when I can afford them. It's pretty exciting seeing something you designed yourself on a piece of fabric!!
You can design one continuous print. I have been printing with them and it is always continuous. Maybe when you are uploading your images you are not over lapping them ..... are you having a border around your print? Would love to see what you are designing. DM me photos on insta and I will share your creativity!
@@SewAnastasia I never have a border on my pictures, I design them to ensure they're continuous and repeating. I still received two separate meter prints for the same order though(ordered a total of 2 meters). Like, they were separate pieces of fabric instead of one total 2m piece of fabric. Maybe it has to do with the mistake on one of them? They were the same pattern, just two pieces of fabric instead of one.

Great Video! I have a question, I have a design meant to fit on 2 meters of fabric. So I uploaded the image which came out to the right dimensions as I planned. The image is 55.3133 in Width and Length 71.48 in. Spandex. However, in the preview it only shows about a quarter of the image. My question is will it only print the preview part or all the dimensions when I buy two meters? This is my first time printing my own fabric, it would mean a lot if you can help me solve this 🥲😂

Can someone tell me if printing thick horizontal stripes (about an inch and a half each stripe) would still work well in art fabrics. I read someone's comment about how they print and I'm worried the strips will not line up through the whole length of the fabric
Nahhh don’t worry about that. That person didn’t know what they where doing when they designed their print.
I have a question. How would I go about being able to have it print different 10 x10 images to fill the yard with out repeats? Or a bigger image for like a quilt panel?
You would have to pre make that image in photo shop I believe

@@TimelessTunesRewind like if you want a 45 wide fabric & 20 inches high till it repeats then I would make that full width in photoshop. Your file would be 45x20inches

Any sewing machine will work for a beginner. I would suggest going to a local dealer and trying them out. It is like riding a bike. One of them will just feel right! Happy sewing :)
What is the hand of the reactive printed fabric like? I feel like pigment printing is always stiff and rough.
It's good. The silk I ordered is super flow and soft. The cotton is stuff and flat like cotton. They are true to their normal hand.
Would you mind telling me all the stores you buy regular fabric from please? It's so hard to tell right now what online store to buy from.
Oh gee. Hummmm... I buy fabric mainly from wholesale companies or I use the local chicago fabric stores.

You would have to create new designs & save them & order different fabrics. Once you upload your design you can order it in any fabric type

Great tutorial, I have had issues with Spoonflower, all the blacks look like faded out gray and poor quality, the stock I got in today was sticky and hard as well.
Ugh yeah I had that happen with blacks from them too.
@@SewAnastasia Really sad, why do they not disclose they can not print black, I called them out on it after watching your video, I really appreciate it, I am a bag designers, I love to use my own fabrics, or customers designs, my client was upset when she saw the last ones, and they were really sticky
