The Secret of Omega Supreme | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E29 | Hasbro Pulse
Omega Supreme seems a bit off lately and Optimus wants to know why. After having to order Omega Supreme, Optimus gets more than he bargained for. Long ago, Omega Supreme defended Crystal City, where he was once friends with the Constructicons. Times were good. But their friendship came to an abrupt end because of Megatron and a little reprogramming. Becoming evil, the Constructicons set out to follow his orders, bringing them into conflict with their former friend, Omega Supreme.

The saddest episode for me was when Beachcomber found the golden pond that made transformers invulnerable, and the two sides ended up fighting over it until it was destroyed.

The affects the Robo Smasher had on Omega are fascinating. It took most, if not all, of Omega's Positive Emotions. Leaving Omega feeling only anger, hate, and vengeance. But he still retained a sense of Duty and through that loyalty to the Autobots.
I don't think the Robo Smasher took Omega's positive emotions, but it might have affected his logic concerning the Constructicons. I don't know. I think Omega is as good as Autobot as they come, but his way of holding off his attitude on them just manifests in the way he speaks. He probably feels more positive things than he lets on. It's just the circumstances.
It was more than that. It was also the destruction of his city and the loss of his friends. He's traumatized and thinks that trying to get even will ease his pain but, that never works. Not for anybody. It only makes things worse and the hate returns again and again. With every act of revenge carried out it grows more intense until hate and anger are ALL that you CAN feel. It's a horrible feeling. I've been there. Words can't describe how painful it is.

You've got to love the fact that Optimus Prime simply used an impassioned speech to Omega Supreme, and Omega instantly had a change of heart. That's why he's a great leader.

Meh. The 2007 Transformers: Animated show did it better.
But then without this show, that wouldn't exist so we owe this series a lot, despite its dated nature.

I always like how Prime will stand his ground and stare down opponents much bigger than himself.

You really have to hand it to both of them. Looking at the size and apparent power differences of the two, this is Optimus Prime risking his life for the greater good AGAIN, if you think about it. I bet he was fully aware that he could end up squished like a gnat by Omega Supreme if the big guy wouldn't come to his senses.
On the other hand, Optimus' track record against insane odds is just about as insane as those odds. Chances are Omega Supreme is in some level aware that he's probably not going to like what's to come if he has to fight Optimus. And let's not forget: Omega is a good and responsible guy at heart. Fallible like everybody else which is the root of this episode.
Still hoping for an episode where Omega just strangles Devastator in front of everyone and just walks off.

There's a lot of inconsistency. There's an episode where the Constructicons are responsible for creating Megatron. Here it appears they were neutral and were made to become Decepticons. However, in their first appearance Megatron says to Starscream of the Constructicons: "they were worth the trouble creating them in these caverns."

@@miconis123 its almost like this cartoon was poorly planned and rushed in an attempt to get on TV before the gobots cartoon did. Season 1 of transformers was Hardly 20 episodes while gobots had nearly 40. They cut the production time to hell and back and all I got them was being on TV one day earlier lol
But instead of trying to save them, he wants them dead. I think it is sad for the Constructicons.
Possibility... Growing. Definitely one of the more memorable endings to any Transformers episode.

But I thought Megatron and the Decepticons built the Constructicons. Because in the episode "Heavy Metal War" in Season 1, Megatron even says that they were worth the time to construct in the cave they were based in.

You're assuming he's thinking of this rationally and choosing to. His mind has been twisted by the Robosmasher. It's the only emotion he feels, he tells us this literally.

A great episode with Optimus Prime at his best. His speech to Omega is what we remember him best for. A leader who can stop a giant with his words.
Prime seemed to have a little temperament in this one
The guy who voices Optimus Prime, has DONE VERY WELL FOR HIMSELF. His voice also was used in the Voltron stuff sounds like. He has been able to stay relevant to the paradigm shifts of the 80's and the 21st century.

It would of been great if Omega Supreme appeared in the 1986 Movie, and get his revenge against Devastator.
The movie was made concurrently with season 2, we get Blaster and Perceptor and the 1985 Decepticons (notably slightly off key) along with the 1986 city commanders, jets, cars and Springer but the rest were reduced to cameos.

In the IDW comic adaptation Omega Supreme and the season 2 combiners are all seen battling at Autobot HQ. I like to think that's where they were during the battle of Autobot City.

I learned of the passing of Jack Angel (Omega Supreme, as well as Astrotrain) only a couple of days ago. I guess because I was dealing with the loss of my mother that I didn't see anything. He voiced my favorite Autobot after Optimus Prime, and I'm talking of course about the star of this episode, Omega Supreme. To me, he sounded the least like Jack Angel's normal voice where I didn't realize it was him. May he rest in peace.
He’s not dead, he simply went back to Cybertron.

I haven't seen this episode since the 80s when I was living in San Francisco! Thanks Omega Supreme for saving us from that creature!
Megatron's giant binoculars are hilarious
This episode was one of my favourites from season 2 mainly because it was one of the few times we ever saw a different side Omega Supreme who was normally very analytical in his phrases. It was cool to see for a portion of the episode set in flashback with him telling his story to Optimus Prime who straight up asked him what really happened with the Constructicons in Cybertron's past plus it was great to learn about Omega's backstory as we didn't know a lot about him. Loved these little spotlight episodes they did in Transformers as it really gave us a chance to spend more time with certain Autobots
So many good concepts in this episode. Constructicons created a great city, friends with Omega Supreme and the Robo Smasher!
Crystal city showed up later as did Optimus talking to Omega supreme
unfortunately it added to the many confusing backstories of the Constructicons lol...
😢the 80’s cartoons were perfection. There will never be another decade of such excellence, when it comes to that art form. Blessed to have been alive to see shows such as The Transformers during its inception.

I agree I’m an 80’s guy myself I use to watch these shows and I prefer the original version compared to the new version.
I only started watching this series this year and it just feels nice to listen to and watch.

The problem is, this episode is contrary to their debut, Megatron claimed to have built them on earth several episodes prior to this episode.

I recall someone writing a fanfic linking all these origins. It could also be like the Combaticons, where he simply built new bodies for them on Earth.
@@minicle426 Apparently that is exactly the case. The construction personalities were saved after their first bodies were destroyed upon crashing on Earth. They were then rebuilt into new bodies just like the combaticons.
The ones built on earth were just copies of the ones from Cybertron. There were tons of constructicon around. If you look at the creation of Megatron there were even more constructicons at that time

Funny thing about this episode is that those Constructicon alt modes ARE CYBERTRONIAN! They NEVER received Earth based vehicle modes further solidifying the fact they were merely rebuilt on Earth.

most times when i see people talk about this episode the focus is on Omega Supreme's wanting revenge on the Constructicons for Crystal City ((and/or how it's not their fault they got reprogrammed, so he's ''not aiming right''))
no one mentions he suffers processor trauma from Megatron's reprogramming device trying to get at him too

Has anybody noticed that stars cream was nowhere to be seen in this episode? Megatron sure got a break from starscream's annoying nagging and constant treachery. Starscream was probably on vacation.
He was probably on paid leave for a couple weeks after pissing off Megatron in one of the last couple episodes.

After 40+ years of life, it just dawned on me. His name is Optimus Prime, because he is primarily optimistic in the face of any adversity or situation. Optimus is the president the U.S. needs. Lol. Facts.
Both words are Latin, though "Prime" is spelled the English way. They basically mean "Best First". So I less generously would say that they just refer to his position as leader of the Autobots. Still, I would rather believe your interpretation :)

I like this episode. Omega basically goes all Dirty Harry on Devastator who is often seen as a big bully that stomps on everyone else because he is bigger. But in this ep we can see Omega as the bully now because he is stronger and fueled by hatred not duty to protect innocent lives that are relying on him to do do his freaking job of playing base defense. It's like if your hockey Goalie leaves his position to make it easy for the opposing team to get a free points because nobody is there to block anything. This episode shows the importance of being responsible and sticking to the main objective instead of a selfish personal agenda. I think Inferno also made that mistake in another episode which almost got Red Alert killed because he was eager to see action and so nobody defended. But in that episode it wasn't as dramatic because it was a small scale. (one dude at a computer terminal in that episode vs this episode where a whole planet is at stake)

That robo smasher could explain Shockwave and Soundwave's subservience.

From all indications they were loyal long before that. Starscream was also likely a Decepticon by that point explaining why he is not so loyal.
@@donmccullen1973 What happened to the robo-smasher is not known - even to Megatron. Starscream is NOT the only "renegade" Decepticon - or did we forget the Combaticons? (While Megatron hid the *rescue* of Combaticons, they were locked up in the Cybertron Detention Center (basically, their prison) originally under Shockwave's responsibility; remember, Shockwave was the Cybertron military governor).

This is one of my favorite episodes where Omega Supreme just unloaded on the Constructicons. He would have anhilated them if Prime hadn't stopped him.

Prime is the best sniper ever, He just No-scoped a laser from like a mile away and got them all with a few shots.
That was the best scene, even though there were some frames missing.
I love how Megatron had to remind Astrotrain to head to the asteroid in shuttle mode.
The idea that Astrotrain would have tried to get to far earth orbit dressed like the fuckin' Flying Scotsman, and wondering why it isn't working, is hilarious.

This was one of the baddest episodes of the series. Had some of the most badass quotes and stories. I loved Omega Supreme the hunter.

I think there are two aspects to why Omega Supreme eventually didn't raise his hand against Optimus Prime.
The easier one to tackle is that, Optimus Prime's track record against the most insane odds is just about as insane. If Optimus decided that the greater good meant Omega Supreme has to go down, Omega Supreme would go down. Omega Supreme must have seen it enough times in his time to realise that the odds could easily be in Optimus' favor if the two were to face off.
The more complex one is that, I believe Omega Supreme is traumatized, more than anything. The Robo Smasher getting to him is irrelevant, but it might have something to do with his misguided fury towards the Constructicons. I believe it's just him not taking responsibility for leaving his post in the first place. And after that he's probably been insanely dutiful.
Omega Supreme doesn't want to take his attitude out on his Autobot comrades and the way it manifests is the way he speaks. He looks emotionless but he's anything but. He wants to be a good guy, but for him, duty comes first.
Except with the Constructicons. They can apparently send Omega Supreme to a traumatic frenzy. But Optimus knows his troops. He knows he needs to make Omega Supreme see he is about to leave his post AGAIN and the consequences would be disasterous AGAIN. Forget about the Constructicons. Forget about Crystal City. What's done is done, you learned from it. Now it's time to remember the lesson.
Of course Omega Supreme isn't going to let that happen on his watch again. Moving on is hard but necessary. He still harbors his misguided hate of the Constructicons. He can't take back that one bad choice and it will probably eat him forever. He accepts that all he can do is choose better in the future. First of those choices was to let the Constructicons run and save Earth instead.
Man I love talking and analyzing.

There isn't a combiner on this show who more consistently got his ass kicked than Devastator, lol.
