But it’s TRUE though! Have you ever seen a sandman match? That dude comes through the crowd, pauses, keeps coming, stops poses, keeps coming, does the beer can to the forehead spot, poses, keeps coming, poses some more….I mean really, you can’t make this stuff up 🤣🤣🤣
This PPV had some of the best Cena heel moments and watching the crowd get worked over so beautifully remains one of my favorite wrestling moments from Big Match John.
I hadn’t watched wrestling for about 16 years but came back in 2018 and binged lots of what I missed. I heard that people hated Cena, and I remembered RVD, and it surprised me how well Cena put over the talent. He seemed like a proper end boss, and this came to bear itself through the coronations of Edge, CM Punk, Mark Henry, and several others. It’s crazy to say, but Cena may be underrated in certain corners of fandom.
The crowd reaction from the Rey Mysterio vs Sabu match turned me into the biggest Sabu fan because he felt like a real big deal😂 he also destroyed Rey in that match and 7 year old me was distraught
I'm still pushing for Wrestlemania 21 for Retro Ups and Downs: Batista vs Triple H John Cena vs JBL The Undertaker vs Randy Orton Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero The First ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match!
1:55 I recently gave my 4 yr old nephew my Earthquake action figure from my childhood and he loves it 😊 My slow approach to introducing him to wrestling 🙌
i think my favorite part is during the "Yay! Boo!" spot, the fans got so into going from one to another that when Cena hit RVD twice they instinctively started a "Yay!" before switching on a dime to "Boo!"
Same. Wonder if something was cut out by whoever edited this together, or if Simon simply left out stuff that would better lead from one topic to the other. Either way, seems like a pretty lazy transition to me.
I had no idea about Earthquake, I just remember watching vhs of him fighting Hogan, jumping and then sitting on Hogans chest. With Roddy Pipper screaming "he kicked out!!". Great fucking times
Guy could do flipping dropkicks at his age and size. He was astonishingly nimble for his size and was a surprisingly crisp wrestler. He was not the average sloppy 'big guy'.
Edge, Lita, Foley vs Terry, Beulah, Dreamer was honestly a gold standard in entertainment. It had everything almost. If they'd have had Lita moonsault someone & Edge go off a ladder through a table it'd be peak
I know people poke fun at Edge wearing a motorcycle helmet when he spears Cena through the table, but I remember back in the day thinking the "kayfabe reason" was so he'd "protect his head from getting injured as he speared Cena through the table" and didn't think much on it. Granted, I have absolutely no idea how much if any truth there is to that at all, but hey.
I've heard the reason is it was the only part left of a story that changed. It was originally supposed to be a returning Orton who was back early after a suspension. But obviously he was in a match so it wouldn't have be a surprise.... of course, that isn't the Kayfabe reason
Wrestlemania X...(Macho Man vs. Crush, Bret vs. Owen, HBK vs. Razor Ramon ladder match IC Titles, Luger vs. Yoko / Yoko vs. Bret. Doink/Dink vs. Bam Bam/Luna And MORE!)
I grew up with my cousin who had cerebral palsey growing up and he absolutely loved Eugene. I know it's kind of neat to go back and look at things as problematic, but my disabled cousin loved seeing someone similar to him doing WWE. I think a lot of times we're quick to look at things as problematic without really knowing what the supposedly offended group even thinks.
Review Stu Harts 50th anniversary show. When several wwf wrestlers went up to stampede wrestling. Vince sent them up there for stu, cool backstory and some old school wrassslin
13:28: "They just hit each other in the head so hard it's like they hate each other, but in actual fact they were the best of friends." I love how that perfectly encapsulates IRL pro-wrestling relationships: wrestlers can only go all out on people they truly trust, which means if someone REALLY thwomps a guy, it's probably because they're best friends outside the ring (unless you're, like, JBL or Shane o' Mac).
The sandman's entrance was so long and the crowd was so silent was because the WWE Network version had the music changed from Metalica to generic music trust me, watch the original with the fans singing
Royal Rumble 2008 Edge v Rey Mysterio in MSG Rey got booed out of the building. Not sure why considering how hated Edge usually was, but I guess the smarks were really behind him by that point
He gave a down for Sandman’s Epic crowd entrance!? He came out to Enter Sandman! Very Epic!! Of course, I think they changed it on the wwe network version, idk.
Your editor needs to fix this video. There's clearly a big piece missing after the Big Show appearance into JBL's interview. Or the script was missing lines. Either way, you go from them playing into Big Show's strengths to 'him being booed out of the building last year' with a picture of JBL on screen. I thought I fell asleep and watched that back a few times. But no. Just a weird transition.
Suggestion: Re-reviewing your very first ups and downs and comparing your ups and downs from when you first reviewed the show……to re-reviewing the first show.
Retro idea royal rumble 2003, Brocks first rumble, also one of the greatest matches ever angle vs Benoit then on the other end of the worst hhh vs steiner
Simon being a Care Bears fan makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in my tum tum
I hope he does retro up and downs on old care bear cartoon episodes
“It takes the sandman longer than the undertaker to get to the ring” 😆
But it’s TRUE though! Have you ever seen a sandman match? That dude comes through the crowd, pauses, keeps coming, stops poses, keeps coming, does the beer can to the forehead spot, poses, keeps coming, poses some more….I mean really, you can’t make this stuff up 🤣🤣🤣
Simon, review a WCPW show for retro ups & downs lol
If you are an ECW fan, this show is a "MUST SEE" even today.
These _One Night Stands_ were *SO GOOD!*
*Unpopular opinion:* I preferred _ONS: II_ compared to _ONS: I_
Nice!! We need some classic ECW PPVs next!
I'm with you Simon. I love hearing all the stories about how cool tenta was. I was a huge earthquake mark
Earthquake is in my top 10. Legit. I'm very blessed today to see Simon remember him. Thanks Mr. Miller!
Loved John Tenta aka Earthquake his finishing move jumping up and down and the rumble of his entrance music was iconic.
This whole crowd had "it's real to me" energy. Lunatics. Lol
Retro ups and downs idea: The Bash from 2008. The last WWE pay per view that was TV14.
Wasn’t this because of the Shawn/Jericho match? Shawn asked for a little bit of color but then he ended up bleeding all over the place
Didn't Simon said Summer Slam 2019 was TV 14.
Mad props to lawler for willing to work at the show and putting over Taz over
Yeah that iron man match was insane!
My favorite part of this show was the "Thank you, Edge" chants after the spear to Cena.
This PPV had some of the best Cena heel moments and watching the crowd get worked over so beautifully remains one of my favorite wrestling moments from Big Match John.
John Tenta actually lived like 3 blocks away from my house and I was friends with his son as a child. His wife was a tiny little Filipino lady
Rey vs Sabu is one of my all time fav matches ever lol I agree, the finish was the one time a match got stopped and I went “oh thank god..” lol
Thank you Simon for finally giving this a retro ups and downs!!!!!!!!!!
Simon please do more retro vintage videos ie WM 4 tournament.
I love the Golden Up was actually brown 🤣 👏🏽

100% agreed
The crowd reaction from the Rey Mysterio vs Sabu match turned me into the biggest Sabu fan because he felt like a real big deal😂 he also destroyed Rey in that match and 7 year old me was distraught
Same, I had no idea who sabu was prior to that match and after that I kept using him on Smackdown vs Raw video game
I love everything about your videos Mr. Miller from your passion for all things wrestling to your vast array of awesome shirts. You get an up 👍
The Thumbnail Shows ECW One night stand 2005 and Not 2006 I just realized that.
Tommy certainly went through it at both events, literally and figuratively...
@@tomseville1057 He didn’t at 2006, the only thing on fire at this show was a barb wire 2x4
Because whatculture isn't wrestling fans they are wrestling reporter fans. So a lot of the details get slipped up
I'm still pushing for Wrestlemania 21 for Retro Ups and Downs:
Batista vs Triple H
John Cena vs JBL
The Undertaker vs Randy Orton
Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle
Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero
The First ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match!
1:55 I recently gave my 4 yr old nephew my Earthquake action figure from my childhood and he loves it 😊 My slow approach to introducing him to wrestling 🙌
👏👏
Very clever
Earthquake was awesome one of the best ever big men imo
Paul Heyman has a gift. The gift of gab. He could sell ice to Eskimos and talk the birds down from the trees.
This is probably my favorite WWE ppv
21:09 The what, Simon? Lol You're treasure.
Miller you should retro ups and downs All in from 2018. it's mad to see how far these guys have already come.
Terry Funk selling his eye was a running gag with Foley
Repo Man!
Now that I have your attention, how about This Tuesday in Texas, which featured the aforementioned legend?
i think my favorite part is during the "Yay! Boo!" spot, the fans got so into going from one to another that when Cena hit RVD twice they instinctively started a "Yay!" before switching on a dime to "Boo!"
One of my favourite PPV of all time - such good feels!
Do ECW Heat Wave 1998 for retro ups and downs!!!
YES!!!! Now do Unforgiven 2006!
Rvd vs John cena is one of my favorite wrestling matches/ moments
I’m SOOOOO confused how Simon segwayed from Big Show to JBL and his heel antics 🤯 🤣
Same. Wonder if something was cut out by whoever edited this together, or if Simon simply left out stuff that would better lead from one topic to the other. Either way, seems like a pretty lazy transition to me.
Nice T-Shirt Simon. Happy Halloween!
I had no idea about Earthquake, I just remember watching vhs of him fighting Hogan, jumping and then sitting on Hogans chest. With Roddy Pipper screaming "he kicked out!!". Great fucking times

I have always thought that the reason was to protect his head for the table spot. Shame they never gave us a story reason about it.
Ups and downs for the last WWE/ECW show
What was the reason for the random jump cut from Simon talking about Big Show to JBL?
The whole cena t shirt thing was great
People- Great American Bash 86!!!!
RVD never gaining his spot back still makes me sad to this day. I always wished he would've gotten a redemption run with the belt
This was a fun review plus a awesome ppv next week should be wrestlemania 22
That was an odd transition from the Big Show stuff to the JBL stuff.
Was there a weird edit? Mr Simon goes from talking about the big show to randomly talking about jbl out of nowhere.
Retro Ups and Downs- The VERY first WrestleMania please
Wrestlemania X...(Macho Man vs. Crush, Bret vs. Owen, HBK vs. Razor Ramon ladder match IC Titles, Luger vs. Yoko / Yoko vs. Bret. Doink/Dink vs. Bam Bam/Luna And MORE!)
Watch care bears for five minutes 🤣 Miller you funny asf
WCW HALLOWEEN HAVOC 1991
I grew up with my cousin who had cerebral palsey growing up and he absolutely loved Eugene. I know it's kind of neat to go back and look at things as problematic, but my disabled cousin loved seeing someone similar to him doing WWE. How's about the WWF 1st annual Survivor Series for retro ups and down
Review Stu Harts 50th anniversary show. When several wwf wrestlers went up to stampede wrestling. Vince sent them up there for stu, cool backstory and some old school wrassslin
Wearing my wrestlecrate ECW t-shirt watching this loving life!
I Still can't belive the crowd cheered for Edge on the main event after hating him 15 minutes earlier 🤣
Vengeance 2005! Put it on the ballads! Such an underrated ppv
Triple H vs Batista HiaC
Angle vs Michaels 2
Cena vs Jericho vs Christian!
Retro Ups and Downs of Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory 2018.
13:28: "They just hit each other in the head so hard it's like they hate each other, but in actual fact they were the best of friends."

Still gonna try and push for No Mercy 2001.
This or KoR 2001.
13:36 Woah woah woah, above Mick Foley, is that Undertaker Guy!? The one from Wrestlemania 30!?
that was a great night. then RVD and SABU get caught with weed a week later and it's over just like that.
The sandman's entrance was so long and the crowd was so silent was because the WWE Network version had the music changed from Metalica to generic music
trust me, watch the original with the fans singing
In 2005, you're right. He had his 💩 music in 2006.
I might be late but 3 years later and I still find it funny the ECW crowd would point out a botch when that's all Sabu was capable of doing
Funk's used to metal things in his eye. That Memphis Wrestling empty arena match between him and Jerry Lawler that ended with Funk spiked in the eye,
Sabu was so good
Royal Rumble 2008 Edge v Rey Mysterio in MSG Rey got booed out of the building. Not sure why considering how hated Edge usually was, but I guess the smarks were really behind him by that point
WRESTLE KINGDOM 11!!!!
November 17 1997 Rick Rude showed up on a taped episode of RAW & a LIVE Nitro on the same night
Great American Bash 1991 👍 here
At first from the thumbnail I thought it was gonna be One Night Stand 2005.
December to dismember next please 😂
John Cena in this role is my favorite moment in the history of pro wrestling
He gave a down for Sandman’s Epic crowd entrance!? He came out to Enter Sandman! Very Epic!! Of course, I think they changed it on the wwe network version, idk.
In 2005, he did. In 2006, he had his 💩 music before he beat Eugene to death with the Singapore Cane.
How about a truly Retro review...of WWF "Wrestling Classic"? (1985)
Ok we went from talking about the big show to JBL so fast I thought you were still talking about big show
Let’s keep up with the ECW theme! Barely Legal 97!
Over the Edge 1999
why is the thumbnail 2005? but thanks for the vid simon!
We need force Simon to review December to Dismember
He did that one long back
Wrestlemania 22 Edge vs. Foley
Need a shirt like that with my name on it! Looks nooiicce lol. (Really like it)
Simon you should do a video on Newjack and how he looked at wrestling business and Working for ECE
no, because nobody wants to be reminded of that fucking psychotic.
Isn’t the thumb nail from 2005? Dreamer was in a tag match with funk vs the edge and foley not the dudleys
There is a bit of an edit mistake around the 9 minute mark Simon.
thumbnail is from 05
AHHHHH Simon you know December to dismember is coming 🤣
I am not prepared
He actually reviewed that show a while back.
YES YES YES YES YES
Just me or was there a weird cut between him talking about Big Show and JBL?
Suggestion: Re-reviewing your very first ups and downs and comparing your ups and downs from when you first reviewed the show……to re-reviewing the first show.
He already did that as part of the whatculture 2 million subscriber special
Retro ups and downs for wrestlemania 21
September 1st 2003 Raw
KoR 2001 for retro ups and downs. Kurt Angle Vs Shane McMahon Vs. Glass
That’s 2005 thumbnail
Retro idea royal rumble 2003, Brocks first rumble, also one of the greatest matches ever angle vs Benoit then on the other end of the worst hhh vs steiner
For retro I would love to see Wrestlemania IV. I'd love to hear Simon's thoughts on the tournament.
That photo in the thumbnail is 2005 tho 🤔
Since we've had both WWE "ECW One Night Stands", how about TNA's farewell to ECW: TNA Hardcore Justice 2010
Wrestlemania 2000
Wrestle Kingdom 10 pls Simon
