This is the best version ever. Watch it every year. Albert Finney is incredible. He was 33 when he played Scrooge. Thank you very much is a great song too
My absolute favorite! Albert Finney was oscar worthy in his portrayal of Scrooge as well as the rest of the cast! The music and choreography sone of the very best of it's time! Still timeless for us! "Thankyou very much 🎶🎵..."
I watch nearly every version of "A Christmas Carol/ Scrooge" every Christmas season. My favorite is still the 1951 version with Alistair Sim (no offense). However, this version is a close second. This version has me crying the most tears when Scrooge sees himself losing his fiance. And this version is also the most joyful, with the singing and dancing and feelings of Christmas joy at the end. Albert Finney, Sir Alec Guinness, the rest of the cast, the director, and choreography were all brilliant and top-notch. Thank you for posting this (what seems to be) rare clip of The Making Of. Merry Christmas!
I watched this in the theater during its original theatrical release. I instantly loved it and considered it a classic. It's easily my favorite version of A Christmas Carol. Thereafter, it was shown on TV, but not presented properly. Not only was the 2.39 aspect ratio cropped to 4:3, the entire sequence where Scrooge goes to hell was left out. About 30 years ago, it came out on VHS, and I snapped it up. The AR was still cropped, but at least it was intact. It eventually came out on DVD and then blu ray. The blu ray is something I will treasure for the rest of my days.
This was a very interesting watch! This version of Scrooge/a Christmas Carol is hands down my favorite! It is a moving rendition that has me crying, reflecting, laughing & soulfully happy & joyful throughout. Albert Finney was fantastic & seemlessly played the two versionsof himself. I've been watching since I was a kid w/my dad & hav watched every yr since now w/my kids as they've grown. A wonderful tradition that I hope my boys will carry on. I so longingly searched for a CD version of the music score but sadly hav not been able to locate the one specific to this film.
This is my all time favorite Christmas movie. Years ago when it wasn’t replayed anywhere on TV, I managed to buy a DVD of the film. Sorry, I don’t remember where I bought it but it is out there somewhere.
This is my absolute favorite Christmas movie. I watch it every year at Christmas time and have for many many decades. Albert Finney is phenomenal! When I couldn’t find it on television anymore I managed to buy a DVD somewhere a long time ago. I do not own a DVD of any other film. I am surprised this is not more popular.
I agree, but maybe the studio doesn't have it in their collection. I have a film which could have been used on a dvd set for a tv series as a bonus feature, but maybe they don't have that one, either.
I watched this as a little girl, I remember it very clearly now. But I had forgotten all about it till 2 years ago here on UA-cam. I have always loved Reginald Owens version of Ebenezer Scrooge, my absolute favorite! Then Scrolling I came across this, and I decided to watch, thank heavens I did! I found that I recognized word in the songs and Scrooge's voice...then it all came back to me by the end. I watch it all the time, throughout the year, I love it! It's been like finding an old, dear friend! I wish there was more of 'the making of', it's so interesting, thank you for posting it!!! Merry Christmas 🎄🎀🎄
I just discovered this version this year and love it. So this version along with the other versions with scrooge played by Allister Sim and George C. Scott are my definite annual getting in the mood movies!
Thank you SO much for the color restoration on this film print. I'm assuming this was worked on from the red print on youtube? I'm surprised that you could pull any color from that print. It looks so much better!! I LOVE this film.
My favourite Version is 1951 with Alistair Sim, because of the sheer Darkness, and also not afraid to go near Bible References. Think also the B&W has something to do with it. But the MUSIC and Choreopraphy to this Versions is top notch!
Minus the extended love sequence and the visit to hell, this is actually one of the most faithful renditions. The best, non-musical, and faithful version is with George C. Scott. But, this one is most enjoyable.
I’m not so sure. It was a decent tv movie, but I don’t think George C Scott had the range and skills as an actor. I never really believed in his portrayal and the transformation that Scrooge undergoes.

This is my childhood movie until i die ......I will always watch this :)

This is the version of A Christmas Carol that I grew up with and is still one of my favourites (along with the Muppets version)
Me too!!! The best ever!
It is by far the most joyous version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL ever filmed.
The Muppets' version is fantastic.
Michael cain made an amazing Scrooge. One of the best.
I agree ten fold. I really like this one because it's so freaky and joyful.

At the very least, a nomination
He did win a Golden Globe!
Best Christmas movie ever!! I watched this movie over a hundred times.
It’s a mystery why this not been included as an extra on any of the various releases
