Damn you became a fan as soon as the organization began to go down hill 😂….i didn’t start till around 98’. Trent Green year. I believe we’re at a turning point now tho to better years
Week one 1993 last big game before oblivion. Sure there were a few blips of good football after this. But from week 2 of 93 onward the Redskins lost their way. For all intent and purposes the franchise doesn't even exist now defunct/folded/ shuttered. I consider the commanders a expansion franchise that commandeered the Redskins colors and records. Thanks for keeping the REDSKINS memory alive RetroSkins. HTTR.
@@1BrianSawyer and by 96, Casserly got the roster rebuilt to the point the team was respectable, if not great, and they had 3 winning seasons out of 4 from 96-99
Nice! 🎉 I kinda consider this game a sweet goodbye to the glory days, the Brian Mitchell TD very reminiscent of John Riggins in SB 17… after this, the season went to Hell, but for one night, it still felt like 81-92 🏈
Hail, to the Redskins! Hail, Victory! Braves, on the Warpath! Fight! For old D.C! Run or pass and score we want a lot more! Beat ’em swamp ’em touchdown let the points soar! Fight on, fight on, till you have won Sons of Wash-ing-ton, RAH! RAH! RAH! Hail, to the Redskins! Hail, Victory! Braves, on the Warpath! Fight! For old D.C!
Yes, hail to the Redskins! Malediction and imperishable odium for the Washington Safe Spaces (“commanders”), their fans, the post-woke NFL and anyone who disagrees.
Yep....Rypien knee injury in the next game against "Phoenix" was what did us in and started the snowball.....then blowing the Eagle game the following week didn't help either. Smh
It's amazing how the season just went down the toilet after that. This really was the last game of the old Joe Gibbs Redskins because after that the team would lose their next 8 out of their 9 games. They got SWEPT by the Cardinals for the first time since the mid 70's. Richie Peitbone would never coach again and the rest of the posse went to the teams. The Cowboys on the other hand would go 0-2 and FINALLY sign Emmitt to the money he was owed. Dallas would win the division and the Super Bowl. Emmitt Smith would be the ONLY running back to win the tripe crown for running backs. A rushing title, NFL MVP, and Super Bowl MVP. No other running back has done that.
It seems to me like firing Petitbon after only a single bad season may have been a huge mistake, especially since the Redskin's problems that year seemed largely offensive.
That should have been a penalty on Dallas, but technically the refs made the mistake of not blowing the whistle after he took a knee. While MItchell made the mistake of kneeling just outside the endzone he did give himself up. He basically did the Taylor Heineke vs Philly before it was a thing..
Watching these guys play is pretty interesting. They don't seem athletic at all. Irrespective of team. I guess football back then was much more sluggish and half baked.
Awesome stuff
Dreadful season but love these games
Art Monk, no 81 - Redskins hero
This was my first game watching at my aunt's cookout. We screamed after every touchdown. I was 8 years old. Hail to the Redskins
Same here! I was 8 also

As a fan of the Redskins for over 40 years, I can at least get some joy from watching these games from glory days.
i miss this era
35-16 Redskins Emmitt Smith sat out the first 2 games of the season with a contract dispute
This was the Hogs last stand. The franchise declined immediately following this game.
The team had to be blown up due to age and the implementation of the salary cap, unfortunately
@philchroniger7839 True. Charley Casserly had to be the bad guy, unfortunately, but he really had no choice.

@@NeoNero83 yep. & we all know what happened next. 😡
If I had a time machine, John Kent Cooke would currently own the Redskins.
I remember watching this game then afterwards saying 'We're going back to the Superbowl"! Yes sir!

It really was a goodbye to the glory days. A sad season but still a special night.
Jimmy Johnson had his cut list already done after this game😂
As a Dallas fan I sure miss the old Redskins uniforms and that great logo.
Dam I was hoping for 1992 Cowboys vs Redskins at RFK
You may take that up with you tube’s copyright department. Sorry.
@@RetroSkins that sucks

Yes Red Skins, great team name... When no one was crying about racism.

Didn't matter...Emmitt came back two weeks later and the Cowboys would go on to win Back-to-Back Super Bowl's
This was a great opener! That season quickly went downhill.... 🙁
I seriously thought this would be the loss vs Dallas from Dec. 26, 1993. (That one was the worst until the 2021 game on that date)
Yeah… we won’t be going there.
Boy, Rypien threw 4 TDs in all of '93. 3 of them were in THIS game..
Only decent game for the Skins that year. 🤦♂️🙄
Truth. But still a gem worth savoring.

Facts!
Redskins won 2 yrs earlier and the COWBOYS are the reigning champs coming in

After that game Washington.... It Was the death of of the old Redskins

Their problem was age..
Welcome back again!
half of the plays wouldve been roughing the passer or unnecessary roghness in todays football ..miss the good all days
Not a harbinger of the season to come unfortunately. REDSKINS FOREVER - Safe Spaces (“commanders”) never.
Yeah! We’d only win 2 more for the season and go 3-13.🤦🏾♂️
4-12, thank you very much.
Johnny Thomas NEVER got the credit he deserved from the league as one of the best special teamers in the NFL during his career.

Take it back, but still seems slower
Enmitt held out the first 2 games of this season
And we appreciated it.
They’re even worse they bowed down to the Woke mafia 😂
Redskins are defending Super Bowl champs at the time while Dallas would win it at the end of this season after this meeting
Actually, Dallas was the defending Champs. This when Emmitt held out for 2 games...
