They had a great jumping off point for a series of movies but screwed it all up in this furtive effort to connect the Space Jockey to the Engineers. It could have been Lara Croft in space, a well written series based upon our mythology, but killing Elizabeth off killed off my interest.
I don't like Disney buying up so many entrainment outlets and franchises. Choice and competition are extremely valuable to us the consumer. Competition brings the best out of companies Soon you will only have two choices Wal-Mart and Disney! Lol

Once the dust has settled on the fox merger I think the next company in Disney's crosshairs will be Hasbro. Disney already has a strong merch relationship with Hasbro so why not go one better and own the means of production plus acquire transformers and a heap of under developed intellectual properties and apply the MCU formula to a Hasbro toy box cinematic universe. In the 80s marvel and Hasbro had an extremely close business relationship during the golden age of advertainment in Saturday morning cartoons.

I love the Engineer lore. I think Prometheus is a great movie, but I was slightly disappointed with Covenant. It seemed to water down the Engineer story to fit in the Xenomorphs and make it an Alien film. I hope Awakening explains more about the Engineers, so we have a good understanding of their civilization.
Agreed. Covenant ended up a compromise of the movie Ridley wanted to make and the movie the stuido demanded he make. Since the backlash toward Prometheus centered on there not being enough "Aliens" (face huggers..chest bursters etc.) Covenant became this slapped together mess that had to dumb down the version Ridley hoped to make in order to deliever more of the same tired old story that the public cried for. Then of course when Covenant came out...the criticisms were that the movie didnt do enough to answer the questions posed in Prometheus. It was a dammed if you do...dammed if you dont scenario. I love the original story arc Ridley had in mind and I hope he does get to realise his vision and tell the complete story...but with Disney in control now I hold little faith that we will get anything worthwhile. I really wanted a deeper back story to the engineers themselves, Prometheus was one of those movies that makes you wonder if we were created by engineers, which is why i loved that movie, cause i believe in that type of stuff!

Regardless of what some say about Prometheus and Covenant, I really want to see this film trilogy wrapped up. I look forward to seeing how Ridley ties it all together. And I'm glad we'll be getting more from the franchise beyond that, just hope it's good.

The series isn't getting better with more in depth detail, it's only becoming more diluted. It should have stopped after Aliens and the prequels should have stopped at Prometheus. COME UP WITH SOMETHING NEW!!!!! There just isn't any great up and coming directors with original stories and ideas. Just like the actors of today. Come hand in hand. Cinema is shit today. I can't remember the last time I went to the movie theater....

I love the engineers storyline and would love to watch movies detailing their history. I wasn't a fan of the original Alien movies, but adding more lore made the franchise worth watching for me.
It's because they've aged poorly. I still love ALL 4 original movies, but I know that's just nostalgia. Everytime I try to get someone to watch them they fall asleep. Anyway, we need more updated movies Pronto.

I think the Engineer at the start of Prometheus is a different faction than the Engineer at the end of Prometheus. Seems the warlike Engineers invaded the "Holiest of Holies", a black goo that was controlled, without incident, by the religious Engineers. That's my take, anyway.
They were a DNA offshoot and not the same beings as engineers; much like humans were to the engineers. The engineers seeded that planet because that’s what they do and these beings evolved to look like engineers but are not entirely the same race or technology level. Another experiment.

Man I really love your prometheus/aliens videos . What has been put in place in prometheus is purely genius and the elements that were introduced could led to fully of possibilities. The engineers are so interesting , even if it is only movies, I can imagine this as our possible story of creation . All this also fit really well in the alien/predator universe it’s dark and mysterious and it gives me many ideas of script or stories to make with the the creation of the man by the engineers , the creation of the aliens by david and even the totally mysterious origin of the engineers and of what they used to create life. The story has so much potential and I can see many different ways of doing it even if I’m not at all a specialist in scriptwriting or any movie réalisation. I love cinema , but even if i’m not studying in it , It gives me the will to create the perfect story . But it’s probably out of my competences right now and it would take me years. What I want to say is , if done right , I know that a pure dark and complex masterpiece can be made out of what’s been left . You’re doing a great job , thanks.Your videos always make me exited by this universe and it’s potential . It even makes me question myself about our existence has a specie. This is great news! Thank you! It's really exciting to hear about this new Alien film. Prometheus is one of my all time favourite sci-fi films and I absolutely can't wait to see the Engineers again. The amazing design innovations and gadgets, the creative movie sets, the beautiful ships and visions of space, the mythological, archeological, linguistic and genetic concepts about Who Created Us ... etc.. the stunning cinematography and the haunting music score. I am still hooked on Prometheus despite some storyline missteps and characters' inconsistencies. David was masterful, full stop. Given the gap between Prometheus and Covenant, I guess we should expect Awakening in 2022. I must say Covenant was a bit too dark for me, too predictable, rehashing many old scenes and Alien characters plus there was so much cursing and jocularity (probably to conceal any semblance of an original storyline) ... and also detract from the fact that they never went to the Engineer's homeworld, a 180' U turn from the promised storyline at the end of Prometheus. It was a major disappointment and betrayal. Covenant just went down the wrong path and never recovered .. although there were some compelling horror/thriller moments.
I guess 4yrs after I am seeing this so Hulu thing is happening, and the engineer chasing David went inline with my Aliens Evolution Series animation . Woohoo

How anyone could trust Disney with the Alien IP is beyond me they're going to screw it up just like they've messed up all their other IPs. It is very likely that Disney does not understand the Alien fan base. I do hope Ridley Scott is smart enough to ask for complete directive and creative control over the series for at least the next decade. I also hope that Disney is smart enough to tell a good story and to keep real world political ideologies and agendas out of the story. The series needs to cater to the fans and not the general public.
I hope we see differentiated subspecies of the engineers/mala'kak; as they are being billions/millions of years old species makes it possible that very different species coexist together
I like the plot for "Alien Awakening" that Kroft described - it could be a very interesting movie. But since this video was posted over a year ago, I haven't heard a thing about any Alien projects in development, let alone production. This video was the first time I heard of any Alien TV series as well. Obviously I'm fascinated by the Engineers, given that I have used "Spacejockey" as my cyberspace handle since the Internet went commercial. As such, I would definitely be interested learning more about them, whether it be through film or TV.

I liked all of the alien franchise, they never let me down whether stories connected to sequels or not, they never went from good to bad, like, uh...for example: Anything and everything after Terminator 2 Franchise was nothing but fucked 7 x the power of 7 ways to Sunday, without ever recovering. I can see the judge asking Terminator fans in court, while begrudgingly looking at James Cameron, “Show the court, on the T-800 model Kaye’s before you, where the proceeding terminator franchise, post T2, hurt you.” Now with the intro to the Engineers in the Alien franchise, man it takes this awesome franchise to a whole new level. I loved Prometheus and Covenant. Getting to know the origins of the Aliens, and now very interested in learning more of the Engineers, though, they seem to come off as an advanced race of what is essentially Puritans, the story still holds up.

Regardless of what some say about Prometheus and Covenant, I really want to see this film trilogy wrapped up. I look forward to seeing how Ridley ties it all together. And I'm glad we'll be getting more from the franchise beyond that, just hope it's good.

I love the engineers storyline and would love to watch movies detailing their history. I wasn't a fan of the original Alien movies, but adding more lore made the franchise worth watching for me.

Prometheus was amazing! I really wish Dr. Shaw didn't die, that would have been a good story for Alien Covenant.

I think the Engineer at the start of Prometheus is a different faction than the Engineer at the end of Prometheus. Seems the warlike Engineers invaded the "Holiest of Holies", a black goo that was controlled, without incident, by the religious Engineers. That's my take, anyway.
They were a DNA offshoot and not the same beings as engineers; much like humans were to the engineers. The engineers seeded that planet because that’s what they do and these beings evolved to look like engineers but are not entirely the same race or technology level. Another experiment.

I ALWAYS noticed the ORIGINAL SPACE JOCKY in 1979's Alien was MUCH BIGGER than the Prometheus Engineers.
Yeah the one in alien looked to be around 10-12 feet tall. Where as the ones in Prometheus were about 8 feet.

Man I really love your prometheus/aliens videos . What has been put in place in prometheus is purely genius and the elements that were introduced could led to fully of possibilities. The engineers are so interesting , even if it is only movies, I can imagine this as our possible story of creation . All this also fit really well in the alien/predator universe it’s dark and mysterious and it gives me many ideas of script or stories to make with the the creation of the man by the engineers , the creation of the aliens by david and even the totally mysterious origin of the engineers and of what they used to create life. The story has so much potential and I can see many different ways of doing it even if I’m not at all a specialist in scriptwriting or any movie réalisation. I love cinema , but even if i’m not studying in it , It gives me the will to create the perfect story . But it’s probably out of my competences right now and it would take me years. What I want to say is , if done right , I know that a pure dark and complex masterpiece can be made out of what’s been left . You’re doing a great job , thanks.Your videos always make me exited by this universe and it’s potential . It even makes me question myself about our existence has a specie. This is great news! Thank you! It's really exciting to hear about this new Alien film. Prometheus is one of my all time favourite sci-fi films and I absolutely can't wait to see the Engineers again. The amazing design innovations and gadgets, the creative movie sets, the beautiful ships and visions of space, the mythological, archeological, linguistic and genetic concepts about Who Created Us ... etc.. the stunning cinematography and the haunting music score. I am still hooked on Prometheus despite some storyline missteps and characters' inconsistencies. David was masterful, full stop. Given the gap between Prometheus and Covenant, I guess we should expect Awakening in 2022. I must say Covenant was a bit too dark for me, too predictable, rehashing many old scenes and Alien characters plus there was so much cursing and jocularity (probably to conceal any semblance of an original storyline) ... and also detract from the fact that they never went to the Engineer's homeworld, a 180' U turn from the promised storyline at the end of Prometheus. It was a major disappointment and betrayal. Covenant just went down the wrong path and never recovered .. although there were some compelling horror/thriller moments.

How anyone could trust Disney with the Alien IP is beyond me they're going to screw it up just like they've messed up all their other IPs. It is very likely that Disney does not understand the Alien fan base. I do hope Ridley Scott is smart enough to ask for complete directive and creative control over the series for at least the next decade. I also hope that Disney is smart enough to tell a good story and to keep real world political ideologies and agendas out of the story. The series needs to cater to the fans and not the general public.

I like the plot for "Alien Awakening" that Kroft described - it could be a very interesting movie. But since this video was posted over a year ago, I haven't heard a thing about any Alien projects in development, let alone production. This video was the first time I heard of any Alien TV series as well. Obviously I'm fascinated by the Engineers, given that I have used "Spacejockey" as my cyberspace handle since the Internet went commercial. As such, I would definitely be interested learning more about them, whether it be through film or TV.

I liked all of the alien franchise, they never let me down whether stories connected to sequels or not, they never went from good to bad, like, uh...for example: Anything and everything after Terminator 2 Franchise was nothing but fucked 7 x the power of 7 ways to Sunday, without ever recovering. I can see the judge asking Terminator fans in court, while begrudgingly looking at James Cameron, “Show the court, on the T-800 model Kaye’s before you, where the proceeding terminator franchise, post T2, hurt you.”
Now with the intro to the Engineers in the Alien franchise, man it takes this awesome franchise to a whole new level. I loved Prometheus and Covenant.
