Thanks for their reaction! This was filmed in the Oviedo mall where PattyCake Productions is located. It is an older mall just outside of Orlando Florida.
I'm really glad Mykal got to join them for another cover that really demonstrates his ability! He was awesome in Be Prepared, and this is just a whole new level!
This is the Oviedo Mall in Orlando Florida where Pattycake Productions is located. Pattycake is owned by Layne and former member Tony Wakim. It's also where VP and Geoff film most of their videos. Pattycake does original videos. Most Disney related. The store in the background changes with the holidays. The last one it was Spirit Halloween where Geoff and Kathy bought the costumes for Thriller. And Kathy bought Greta the Gruesome doll that Layne kicked. It will probably be a Christmas store next. Oviedo Mall is also where they film their shorts/minis videos. They filmed this there to show Mykal how they do them. Mykal is one of the founding members back in 1997 with Geoff, Layne and Earl. They sang on street corners and in front of businesses. This is one of the songs they use to sing together. So was fitting they did it again.
This was recorded at the mall where Pattycake productions is located. It was always meant to be a full-length video. They just wanted to give Mykal the experience of one of their shorts by filming it in this format.
Good job on their names. Thanks for this reaction. VoicePlay's "Stand by Me" is wonderful. When they film in the mall hallway outside of Pattycake, there are often people walking by. The only time that I remember it being intentional is when former member Bucky is lurking in the background before joining them in the "500 Miles" short.
I've been watching this for weeks on Patreon. It took me until yesterday to recognize the symbolism of them standing by each other in that tight format.
They also don't fail because they are professional enough to hold something back when it isn't completely 'there' yet. They don't have a "good enough" category. Geoff had Thriller on the shelf for some time before he figured out how to make it all work. Artists and professionals every step of the way. Respect.

You’re right. They bring it every time.
He sings on Broadway.
