Playful Cloud initially belonged to Toji (which he stored in the curse he carried around his neck) before he was killed by Gojo and then the curse that stored weapons went to Geto if you remember. Then Geto used in the movie too if you remember, then later when Gojo killed Geto, he took the Playful Cloud and kept it in the stash of cursed weapons which was then passed on to Maki ! There's a reason Maki made disgusted face using it initially knowing it belonged to Geto. So, now it is a full circle back to Toji lol, and him transforming it into murder knives.
Totally hear you on how frustrating it is to watch the kids, Maki in this case, keep failing against enemies. Something that this series does regularly is subvert expectations by breaking the rules of shounen. In this case JJK is saying that the typical 'kids are all super strong and can handle anything' trope is unrealistic and doesn't belong in this setting. The students are still growing and learning, they're not going to be perfect at this point in their journey. Unfortunately, in this world mistakes are deadly, which is why it's awful that the higher ups send kids out to fight like this. This writing choice also helps with our overall enjoyment of the series. When teenagers are able to rise to every occasion without struggle, the audience ends up thinking the adult mentors and villains are incompetent. JJK avoids this by showing that the kids are talented and good fighters for their age, but they don't have the experience necessary to challenge every opponent they come across.
I mentioned Toji’s scar in the past, but this is the reason Naobito recognizes him, because the scar Toji carries was inflicted by the Zenin when he was thrown into the Zenin’s pit of curses, hoping to get rid of their “failure”, but little Toji who couldn’t even see curses survived and excelled. I was waiting for your reactions so badly!
Btw maki does have curse energy but its such a small amount that she can’t utilize any of it. Toji is the only character introduced so far with zero CE (as stated by yuki in ep 5) and is why his strength and speed is on another level then maki’s even though they both have heavenly restriction.

Sure Nabito and Nanami are 1st grades....But Megumi is the only one with a domain and the only one with the ability to open up a domain from the inside, add that with him possessing the Zenin's clans most prized technique ...he's easily the strongest.

Damn! This episode was everything I wanted and more. From seeing Toji be an absolute beast and bodying Dagon to Sukuna being the monster of legend just brutally slicing and dicing everything. Such damn good characters and it really shows the difference in power between those two and everyone else. But why couldn’t Toji wait a second longer until Jogo got there 🤦🏻♂️ I can’t buy that we lost Nanami, Naobito and Maki like that. And what’s with that deal Sukuna offered Jogo? 🤨 Don’t know what’s going on and I love that. Can’t wait to see more of the madness that’s to come 👹

Idk if anyone noticed but naobito froze for a second and was put into a frame cuz jogo's attack put a stop to his projection sorcery, very neat detail...bro really took an even bigger attack than nanami and maki without having a way to reinforce his body with cursed energy

The reason all other beeings seem so out of proportion is cause they always been this way but this anime tricks you in feeling fine about it since "one person can kill em all if its gettin dangerois" :D Now we get to see the abnormal difference in powerlevel between them all.
