+paul cimino We love saving people money! Thank you.
Thanks for the comment, we're glad we could help!
The old spring appears ok, but clearly not working. Spring was on the last available hole near the back. Do they just wear out and lose their springiness, or should I be looking for another issue? I think its probably 10 years old and original to my home. Thanks!
Thanks for the video, really helpful intro to this repair.
Wow, those are expensive springs, but looks like that's a ~normal price, ha.
This is an awesome video.. Thank you.. saved the day!!!
This video implies everything can be done from underneath. But in fact it's nearly impossible to hook the replacement spring into the nylon 'tab' hanging from the door 'arm' by just reaching underneath. The video shows this operation in a sequence that was taken with the dishwasher pulled out from it's cabinet. With the dishwasher pulled out the procedure is easy. Without pulling the dishwasher out, for me it was impossible..
We did pull the dishwasher out some in order to show the procedure clearly. It is definitely easier to get to the spring with the unit pulled out. Some springs are harder to get to than others depending on the installation of the dishwasher. Sorry to hear yours was a little more difficult.
Thank you very much for the share
I hope mine is as easy..thank you!
Glad to help!
thanks for posting
You're welcome!
No problem!
Thank you!!!
I would take the spring off and check to see if it is still springy or not.
I'm curious.. Should the Frigidaire door springs only need one spring on the right side as shown? I see a mount for a spring on is on both sides as well ours required replacement and I purchased two of them but when we changed the one side it appears it doesn't do the job. Maybe I ordered the wrong spring for our model. It doesn't seem to have enough tension on it.
i had the replacement spring sitting in my car's glove box for the past 2 yrs. haha. thx for showing me how simple it all was. intimidation's a bitch! ;p
Is the video really for part #154430601 as its title suggests? For Model GPDB998JC0, my original install instructions (154373601 (1/00)) discuss removing the outer door by removing 2 screws from the inner door, i.e, from the inside of the dishwasher, but this video suggests accessing from below.
Wintmo it is for that part. It is not for that model though. However, it does look like it may be possible to do the replacement with your model how it is suggested in the video. Try taking off the bottom panel and checking before doing the repair how your manual suggests because that sounds more complicated.
He didn't connect in the same hole......just saying.....
