How is it possible that someone can remember so many songs and play them so well. Been watching since around the beginning and love all your videos....ROCK OUT PHIL!!
I can watch this and the Red Firebird video a million times and not get tired. I never thought I'd have any interest in vintage gear but if you guys don't sell these for a couple years I'll have no choice to buy them, even at their appreciated price.
Firebirds have such a unique sound, and that one in particular. That one shouldn't be hanging around for long. PhilX as always, entertaining and educational. Thanks for bringing the goods FA.
this is my favourite guitar, i try it out in the shop in my home town all the time but its in a awful colour. I ordered a white one online and it is taking forever to arrive because of whats happened to the gibson factory, and in the mean time ive been watching this video becuase of the gorgeous sound it gives! Thanks Phil!
BEA-U-TIFUL guitar. So gorgeous. Maybe just me, but with the added brightness, I was almost getting a dirty strat vibe with a lot of what Phil was playing. I was thinking of going Fusciante strat-ness, but maybe now I'm thinking Firebird mini humbucker-itude.
@13Musicmachine They still make firebirds with mini humbuckers and they have lots of guitars with P90's and I think melodymakers still have singlecoils. :)
phil, besides from showing great guitars i want to thank you for being an indirect teacher. thanks for showing me how to play that lick by stevie wonder from sir duke : )
Hey how about showing a closeup of the tuners on the firebird? Really enjoy the different styles of music. Im inspired! Im gonna go play some funk some scotty moore and joe walsh and blow my childrens minds. Thanx Man.
Will it go round in circles... Man you rocked so far! This is why I watch this video 5th time. Funkin hard amazing! Even I know notes/chordes you played, I cant play it so groovie. I wish you understood :) Cheers from Poland!
@gratisboy121 Goldtop? I just see a flame -a big jazzbox- and the other side it's probably a Gibson. My guess is that it's an EDS-1275, but I'm guessing from a zoomed in, paused, low quality pic of a mostly covered guitar that's in the shade, so I might just be wrong. It's something of a brown, not contoured, humbucker equipped gibson. The switch location is what makes me think it's an EDS-1275... Any other guesses?
Hey Phil, have you ever heard about putting a blue pickguard on a blonde guitar or bass? I was thinking of doing that on my Fender 51 tele bass reissue, and wanted someone else's opinion.
What is the guitar thats always sitting next to the Vox AC-30 in the picture. Not the goldtop but on the other side. the one that looks a little beaten up?
@LegoKid92 I lost count after 30 years but I tell everybody it's not how long, it's how much. I saw a 13 year old last week that blew my mind. Dude... TFK r friends of mine. I recorded all the guitars on 2 of their cd's. I remember some riffs but they're tuned so low they wouldn't sound right in 440
@jamesscott1015 that's the only way i've seen most of them. are reversed more popular than normal? if so which models other than the new modeling one are normal
The reverse thing at the end says "hey what's happenin?!?, this is my favorite guitar in the world and it plays like shiitttt!! No just kiddin!!" I have ireverse on my iPhone... Finally put it to some use. Haha
Watching these videos always brings a smile to my face. The world is a better place with Phil in it.

I played a new Firebird the other day, and I absoultley loved it.
firebirds probably are my favorite guitars. they look so frickin badass
Firebirds are sooooo awesome. I love the color.

That was such a cool review Phil X! :D
lol the backwards bit at the end is awesome xD
Nice editing Dustin... I laughed a lot at 9:54 with Phil in reverse! Haha
Firebird must be in my opinion the coolest looking guitar ever. Or Mockingbird. Or Phoenix.
Man, I like birds!
oh, wow, that stevie wonder lick sounded amazing.
Phil greetings from Cyprus re.
He's incredible!
I wish I can meet you Sir. I'm a fan.

That was amazing great guitar in the hands of Dr. Philgood. ...cool.
Great punchy pickups! I think bridge pickups should be forbbiden for solos in any guitar, neck ones sound soooo cool :)
You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!/ am starting to play Guiter YOUR TO GOOD
@jamesscott1015 not at the moment - when we get any in, we'll record them...
All I can say is thank God Phil's dad came home with a guitar and said, "son you're going to how to play guitar".
'and that is really hard.' *nails it*
@SwordMint A 45rpm vinyl disc, single records used to be relased on it maany years ago :)
Greetings from Denmark :)
You are awesome dude!
Phil, can you play the rickenbacker i see behind you 3:17 in one of your future frettedamericana demo video?
btw the tone of that firebird kicks ass.
@OinkusMaximus That's why Phil said that it doesn't matter what the low E was tuned to.
dude tht riff u did at the biggening is the type of stuff jack black would do;D
Will it go round in circles... Man you rocked so far! This is why I watch this video 5th time. Funkin hard amazing! Even I know notes/chordes you played, I cant play it so groovie. I wish you understood :) Cheers from Poland!
I love how the Maestro bar was screwed on upside down.
It has a nice "chilli peppers" tone and thats what I love about it.
This guy kick ass.
should name the played songs they are always awesome i'd like to learn some... all of them!
Will it go round in circles
good job!
awesome!
this dude is pure win
That fat neck PU neck is amazing! kinda remembers me SRV's strat tone
Bam! in the beginning he is talking bout tele-vibe and he is saying "From this neck pickup", but, he reaches the bridge pickup :D

YEAH i love firebirds
I'd love to see Phil play the banjo.
@MrManson94 i like the shape, im not too keen on the headstock though :/
phil playing with a lot of fill i think its the most importent thing in playing guitar
oh yes! sir duke! :D
Hey Phil, have you ever heard about putting a blue pickguard on a blonde guitar or bass? I was thinking of doing that on my Fender 51 tele bass reissue, and wanted someone else's opinion.
Beautiful guitar and you play it great.
kolla den här snubben, han sjunger alltid när han ska testa gitarrer, hehe
that's exactly what i said. good job, mcgyver
Do a 1978 deluxe less Paul if you get one in
What is the guitar thats always sitting next to the Vox AC-30 in the picture. Not the goldtop but on the other side. the one that looks a little beaten up?
he has a great voice actually haha i never realized
@lucaslovespie...yes Gibson made/makes a non-reverse firebird.
any rough idea on what i could get for an '84 firebird 2 ? i need $ and i have no idea what i could hope to get for it.
what's your main gigging guitar Phil? I always wonder if you ever end up buying some of the guitars you demo.
@LegoKid92
I lost count after 30 years but I tell everybody it's not how long, it's how much. I saw a 13 year old last week that blew my mind. Dude... TFK r friends of mine. I recorded all the guitars on 2 of their cd's. I remember some riffs but they're tuned so low they wouldn't sound right in 440
when you said you were confused all the time i so thought you were going to play Dazed and Confused. :D
Is that tremolo interchangeable with a Tube o Matic one?
@Bl00dripp3r It's hard to find tremolo that holds tuning worse than this from Firebirds
Are there any Gibson Explorers in the shop?
Why did you have to tune the B string a little flat : O?
@jamesscott1015 that's the only way i've seen most of them. are reversed more popular than normal? if so which models other than the new modeling one are normal
what was it that he said at the end, the backwards part
Phil X play Three Lock Box on your next demo. Please!!!
is it just me or would the first sound he uses, the neck pickup in the vox AC30, be perfect for playing the hot for teacher main riff
There's an old clip of him playing Billy Preston as "Big Banana" on breakfast television too.
Isnt Brown sugar done with the "5 string" ?
You might be thinking it's Funk #49 by the James Gang. It isn't, but it has some similarity.
The reverse thing at the end says "hey what's happenin?!?, this is my favorite guitar in the world and it plays like shiitttt!! No just kiddin!!" I have ireverse on my iPhone... Finally put it to some use. Haha
Phoenix? Where do I find a picture of that guitar?
@frettedamericana
What's the song at the start?
im in love
what year is that vox ac30?
whats that great song at 8:10 ?
1964
i think Phil meant Edgar Winter, not Johnny Winter...
04:56 epic surprised face.
love me some Billy Preston!
what's the song he starts playing at 4:10?
Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones
