A few years ago I beat a poison monotype with the same team you beat the elite 4 with. Even the names were similars and that just take me back. It wasn't a nuzlocke, but I don't remember using items or having anyone fainted. I totally lucked out in the run and got a shiny Nidoran male named Wolfsbane. It's so cool to see someone make a video of a similar experience I had in 2017, and to see someone beat the game with the same team i did. Thank you.
It's always so fun when an intended sacrifice refuses to die. It's definitely the reason that Pyro the Simisear is one of my favorite Pokemon you've used so far.
Dude I'm so glad I found your channel, I was starting to get bored of all the "can I beat blank game with blank pokemon" videos. This is a real breath of fresh air
Will you ever do either an Electric or Bug type run in Black 2? I heard it’s fun due to the diverse variety of usable Pokemon of those two types. Btw I love your channel and I hope to see it continue growing!
I did a bug trainer run in HeartGold and it was very fun and interesting with the abundance of good bugs in Johto. (Not a nuzlock cause i don't enjoy doing them)
Crazy, I was just doing a poison only play through of fire red. Gotta say it’s a great monotype run, lots of good options and strategies to choose from even if it’s not a nuzlocke
Yes I love this series! You inspired me to start my own challenges. I'm currently doing one I call "The Little Cup Challenge" You can only use pokemon that hatch from eggs (no evolutions) and also no single stage pokemon (eg. No Heracross, Tauros, Lapras etc...). Its pretty fun. The annoying part is remembering to press B to cancel evolutions. Might be fun to try. This can be done in any generation. It gives you a good variety of really weak pokemon to use.
Hey dude I absolutely love your runs and binged the whole channel, some videos twice. So easy, relaxing, and fun to watch. Suggestion for a future video - maybe a behind the scenes on what kind of strategy and planning goes into a run? Keep up the great work man.
I'd love to see a hardcore nuzlocke (of any game) with ANY types but max levelled to the lowest level of the gym leader rather than the highest. I think this adds a similar level of challenge if not a bit harder but adds a different kind of challenge for thinking about the battles themselves.
That would certainly be quite hard. But a lot more random too. The only thing that keeps you from ripping your hair out in these challenges is that you pretty much know which Pokemon/movesets you get to work with. When you don't do a monotype then suddenly you've got to work around some pretty weird pokemon combinations.
Inspired by you, I did my own Mono-Poison for Emerald, over a weekend, with speedup. I set Gulpin to be the starter, and had my final team with Swalot, Crobat, Tentacruel, Weezing, Seviper. I lost Dustox and Vileplume to crits along the way, possibly payback from Roxanne's loss to Bullet Seed on my 'starter' Gulpin. My NBC shows; Chuck, Knight Rider, Baywatch, The Tonight Show, and V managed to defeat the Elite Four. (never did a Nuzlocke team theme name, but now I can't imagine not doing so lol) Thank you for all the content, and inspiring a new way to replay fun games!
It makes me so happy seeing how fast your channel blew up. The first time I watched one of your videos you only had about 1.2k subs. Keep up the good work :)
This is, and I'm not kidding, my favourite channel at the moment. You are funny, a great editor and have an amazing way of making mechanic information sound awsome.
Currently doing this run (in LeafGreen) and my Beedrill went down so my E4 team has a Nidoqueen instead. The Twineedle strategy is so perfect for Alakazam; I had to rely on a more defensively built Tentacruel. Great run as always!
Omg i Literally did this challenge yesterday but with the original red version i love your strategies and how well you played! I just kinda ran through the endgame with Venusaur and Weezing because i almost wiped to Giovanni 😅
Honestly you’re the first and only poketuber I’ve decided to sub to, really appreciating your content and the way you get shit done is very well put together. Keep up the good work
hey, love your vids! Instead of a Monotype challenge, I'd like to see something weird. I'll give a few examples: - Using only pokemon with no evolutions - Using only middle evolutions - Normal nuzlocke rules for 1st encounter catching per route but can only catch male pokemon. - Basing your team on colors (like an entire team of yellow pokemon) - Using pokemon that no gym leader, E4 or champion uses. Although I like your monotype nuzlockes, this might result in more interesting teams / tactics / gameplay. I don't really mind the gen of games, but B2W2 are great games (although a bit on the longer side compared to FRLG). Keep it up!
The ultimate nuzlocke I have done is LGPE: Bug type. There are only 6 bugs in the game and two are version locked. I did make an exception to allow for a full team by allowing the transfer of a scyther from my pokemon go account (which is technically an encounter when transferred), and replaces the safari zone (so you lose a zone anyway). Big threats (in near as order as I can manage): Brock. At this point in the game you only have butterfree and Beedrill. Because Brock's Onix is level 12, you do not have sleep powder. Your Beedrill only knows twinneedle (really) and fury attack. My strategy was to twinneedle (and hopefully poison early, you take 3 hits) and let Beedrill die, then use Butterfree's gust to finish it (you take two). The calc barely works - Beedrill's Twinneedle is a rough 4hko unless it gets an early Poison, but you will be weakened by 2 tackles from Geodude. It gets slightly easier once you have Parasect from Mt. Moon. It's a bad pokemon, but leech seed/sub/spore can cheese a lot out. Nugget bridge rival - the Pidgeotto can sweep you. You have to land a stun spore (not sleep powder!) and headbutt it down. No more threats till Blaine - mega drain covers anything that would be a threat, barring random bird keepers (avoid them like the plague). Quiver dance venomoth does it fairly well. You need to sleep Magmar and set up in front of it. Sludge bomb cleans. Lance's Aerodactyl. You either need to heavily set up on seadra or use reflect on something (I think venomoth gets it) or you'll get trashed. Rival Mega Pidgeot can easily sweep. Sleep powder and quiver will take it. It was the hardest nuzlocke I've done because the bugs in Kanto kinda suck.

Really enjoyed some of the commentary, was very spot on with jokes. Also only surprise was keeping Beedrill all the way through. For challenges, possibly no evolution mons in Black/White or B/W 2. Maybe a hack where you can get all the eggs early instead of having to find them in wild. But like Dunsparce, Torkoal, Skarmory. Some of these mons are quite strong but you normally catch at high level. Grinding with them or using early level might be quite challenging.
I like how you built a team of dual types (not that you had much choice) -- grass, ground, ghost, bug, water, and flying being on your E4 team, you covered a lot of ground here.

Hmm I wasn’t paying attention too well, why didn’t u evolve golbat into crobat, its still a poison type
For some reason, you need a national dex to evolve cross-gen evolutions in firered and leafgreen.
Your screen says Fire pokemon only btw
I like how you built a team of dual types (not that you had much choice) -- grass, ground, ghost, bug, water, and flying being on your E4 team, you covered a lot of ground here.
When I saw that he caught grimer with a masterball I immediately went down to like the comments about it... but no one noticed?
P.S. its in 9:43
I’m loving these videos, they are amazing. You should add an episodic nuzlocke whenever these get too demanding to give you a break kinda
Seeing a flygonHG video in my subscription box and watching it is automatic
