I"ve never seen Lucy this confident and comfortable in any of her previous videos. Is it the experience, is it the presence of the mystery cameraperson? Very enjoyable all the same.
Lucy is back!! Best day. Not even slightly interested in lens. Just seeing another Lucy Brown video showing us all wonderful places with her great words. Perfect thank you
As a photographer I really enjoyed this little photowalk Lucy, Seems like a great time of the year to go to Venice. Really love the lamp shot @ 15:52 Keep it up Lucy!
That's the most I've seen you smile in one video. You must really love it there. I wish you could do a trip like that once a month. The crowd shouts "We want more Lucy!"
Thank you for sharing your experience Lucy. Much appreciated. On another note I've been watching your video's for a while now and wow I couldn't believe the difference in your presentation. Natural, confident... Brilliant!
Lucy, this is absolutely stellar. The editing and music are atmospheric. It was really an interesting lens comparison as well. I have loved the idea of going to Venice in the winter, as I find the giant crowd of tourists overwhelming. It was beautiful.
It’s always a good day when there’s a new Lucy Brown video! And this one was awesome and engaging as always. Kudos to you and your videographer. The lens comparison was interesting, but yeah, I’d pretty much stick with your usual lens and use some filters. The tour of Venice was lovely. I’m envious!
i think both lenses took some great pictures.. Happy to see your confidence in front of the camera from the early days with may and hammond.. keep up the good work lucy
A filter to really darken everything to use longer shutter speeds (or taking pictures in the evening), make use of the IBIS and take pictures of moving boats would be a good use for that little lens, I think. Lovely video, Lucy. Really getting into the swing of things, you are.
Hi Lucy!! Your smiling face is nice to see on this cold day here in NC. Looks like you saw some nice things, took some pictures you liked and ate well! May the algorithm be ever in your favor! Cheers
You have really begun to step up your presenting skills, and your research is on point. As a complete novice with DLSR cameras (me not you, obviously), I found the pictures taken with the disposable lens to be very dark. But the ones with your normal lens offered up a different level of vibrancy. Fantastic vlog, as always and looking forward to the next one
Love how the lens softens everything. It's not perfect... but makes photos look more "painting-like". Lucy... your cinematography is stunning. You work keeps getting better and better.
I wish you gave your amazing photos a bit more screen time, especially the comparisons between Dispo and Normal. Thanks for another great video. 👍 /A Dane
6:09 look up is great advice when exploring. Also even in places you think you already know, there are so many things to discover along places you walked a thousand times before. Maybe not when crossing the road tho. 😂 Great job Lucy, as everyone is saying, you look so comfortable and doing an amazing job.
Great video, thanks! Cool idea, but I'm not sure about that lens!! Also - the video shots at 5:50 were very, very good. Love the photog style of presentation.
I've been to Venice several times, and it truly is an enchanting city, like nowhere else on earth. From my experience, the secret is to completely turn your back on the tourist sights, the main thoroughfares, the Google research, and the Instagram posts, and head down the narrowest and darkest alleyways you can find. Sounds well dodgy, but oh my god, it opens up an entirely different world! My best memory of Venice was when my dad and myself headed over from Lido de Jesolo on the first water taxi of the day (0500), and just followed our noses, heading down every little nook and cranny we could find. Ended up stumbling upon a secluded fish market just as the catch was coming in, and I've never experienced anything like it!! We both grabbed a coffee and pastry at the wee cafe, sat back, and just watched the madness unfold, was amazing!! Was only 14 years old at the time, and so I didn't manage to capture the experience via photo or video, but even after 30 years, the sights, sounds and smells are as vivid as ever. Kind of feel like my dad taught me a lesson that day! To truly see, feel and experience a city, you need to approach it as a resident, and go beneath the tourist veneer.
Don't write off the dispo lense too quick. I reckon there a narrow field of sharpness that falls off towards the edges. Figure out where the strengths of the lense will be and use it as a specialty item.
Fun vid! Being a photographer myself, it's interesting to see the diff between the dispo lens and the regular lens. Unfortunately, I can't see the poin t of the dispo lens, as I think Lightroom can give you just as comparable retro look. Also, props to your camera person. Nice job all around!
Copl video, very interesting experiment with the disposable camera lens! There were some really good photos you took with both kinds of lenses too! How do you plan out your trips and from that decide where you're going to go and what you're going to do? They look like really fun trips to go on, would be fun to plan something similar one day!
This was a fun photography and travel video! And frankly one I never expected to see from you lol. I also have a disposable lens that I shoot on Fuji I enjoy using (in specific situations at least), cause it's all just a bit of fun for cheap! Digital will never look like film, but using a lens like this (and editing your images) will give you those vintage/nostalgic vibes of a childhood photo album. Other than the fixed f10 aperture, the main downside to adapting a lens like this is the original disposable film cameras utilized a curved film back to negate some of the image quality issues like distortion and poor corner resolution inherent to the single element plastic lenses.
Really enjoyed this video. I have been to Venice a few times and each time explore more of the City away from St Marks Square. Good there very early in the morning but after 8.00 starts getting busier. I am very much an amateur photographer and I really struggle to get good shots when its just murky. More to do with the photographer than any camera I was using!! Looking forward to more (and more frequent) videos.
Nice light. Good video too. If you go again or to anyone else - in summer get up super early as in before dawn. Make your way to St. Marks Sq. to arrive as the sun comes up. It should be completely empty apart from the city workers with their twig brooms sweeping. Spectacular! Also local cafe won't treat you like a tourist, they will assume you are local. Just my experience.
Great video, nice to see Venice again, couple of confusions, did you visit Murano or Burano aka Bruno? Murano is best known for colourful glass ware. Also impressed with Spaghetti Ragu instead of Bolognese, mind you, three in 36 hours...
so i have a couple canon dslr's i bought for astro photography and they didnt come with a lens, i have an old pentex k1000 with a couple and with an adapter i can use them on the canon, the problem is that tiny space from the adapter makes it so i cant get perfect focus, its very close and what i saw with your side by sides seems to be what i experienced the lens attached to the lens cap might just be a tiny bit to far or close to the sensor. i doubt its the actual lens cause its probably the same quality on most phones.
how wild, I bought the Retropia version of this lens (same thing except f/10 and they offered 51 presets) a few days before this posted. stoked for it to arrive after watching this
You picked a great time to visit Venezia. I was there in September last year, and it was super crowded. I did enjoy my visit though. You enjoyed yours too, it seems. Hope you get to enjoy the Dispo lense more. Looks like you can do a lot more experimenting with it?
If you enjoyed your time with the $50 lens, you might want to try the $70 Viltrox 28mm F/4.5. It's an interesting little modern lens and I have had so much joy travelling with it. Love your video Lucy!
It was great following along on your photo walk and reliving scenes from the times I visited Venice in the past. I got some good ideas for locations to shoot next time I go back. I’m afraid I won’t be sporting a dispo lens on my Sony however. Seems like a very low contrast and low resolution lens.
Lucy, something that I have used in Germany was GOOGLE TRANSLATE on my iPhone. You literally point the phone camera at what you need translating & the words change. I used it for a rail ticket machine. Awesome post too, thank you 🤩
Talk about a dream trip! As a kid, my dream job was to be a Nat Geo photographer. Taking trips to amazing places to photograph them like this must be incredible. Thanks for the vid!
you do NOT want to know about the conversation at 21:00 😀. The disposable lens is...better disposed of, the video is lovely. As someone who spent more time in Venice than i can remember i loved to see the city through your eyes, thanks.
Fabulous video. We loved Venice. As others have said, Lucy is more natural here. I’d love to see her “off camera” she seems less on edge when on her own. The other gent seems to put her on edge. It May be because he sucks all the air out of the room.
If you have not already got any M42 lenses for your camera, you need to. All manual focus, but it puts fun back into photography and most of them are around the £50 mark. Splash out a bit more and get a really great street photography lens the 35mm Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon f/2.4.
Lovely video, nice commentary and some really nice photos. One suggestion... leave the photos taken on screen for a second or two more so it's easier to see the comparisons, without having to go back and then "Pause" to see them. Really enjoyed this video though, kudos. Got yourself a new Subscriber. :)
Lucy, I really enjoyed this video. One thing I wished you had done was to take your hat off and showed us your new hairdo. From what I can see your hair is much lighter and looks lovely. Second is perhaps you could introduce your camera person, whoever is filming. If they don't want their whole name out there just a first name would do. It's nice to know, you could do it in the intro or outro. Thanks for bringing us along on this trip.
I guess being able to do video wizardry that even makes James look good, when left to your own devices the quality is excellent, but then you are an artist.
You're getting more confident every video. Please do more in Italy. I lived in Rome for 4 years and travelled every weekend and holiday. So much to discover. Keep on travelling. xo
Brilliant Video Lucy. You could maybe try doing photos with an iPhone, for comparison. Sometimes I get some amazing shots just with an iPhone. Keep the videos coming they are so good!
interesting take on the lens.. id agree the pics id come across softer... you seemed more confident and at ease being in front of the camera... well done :)
This is such a cool experiment with the lenses. Love the Dispo for some shots, but the Digi is hard to fault for lighting capability. Except sunset 🌇 sunrise 🌅. Almost no digital video camera can capture low light graduated colour. Best to shoot the sunrise over water where the light is more dissipated. Lampposts good idea. I'm going to me tion this to someone i know who like canals
Yeah honestly (no shade to anyone that loves them but) the disposable camera lens thing was meh 20 years ago too when it was some sort of big fad around the time digital camera's started getting more and more common/affordable, its neat to see/hear that this idea is still alive and somebody made a lens holder that can be 3d printed, but that doesn't really make it better in any way, its a dirt cheap lens that will always get mediocre to bad results, if you wanna make cool "not perfect" retro-esque photo's my 2 cents is to just get a older camera with lesser quality internals, but at least a half decent glass lens. Cool video tho and i also notice the rise in quality/production a few comments are mentioning in this & the last few videos, keep up the great work!!! 👍
Loved this video and especially the little fishing island. I think I agree with you, better to buy the actual disposable camera rather than the lens. For some reason I kept wanting to call it a Dipso instead of a Dispo. You may have to ask someone older to explain Dipso!
I"ve never seen Lucy this confident and comfortable in any of her previous videos. Is it the experience, is it the presence of the mystery cameraperson? Very enjoyable all the same.
I was coming to comment the same. She feels much more natural these days.
Lucy's "speaking on camera" has come miles since the early videos.
Petition for Dr. James May to increase Lucy Brown's salary
Any Increase in Salary must include Lucy wearing Dresses and Skirts more often.
@@PHN-2024 Well that's a weird ask😅
Not completely sure, however I don't think Lucy works for him/them anymore.
@@qtronicqilt8898 I think she's freelancing (new studio announcement last vlog), and May is one of her clients

Great job Lucy!
That's a cool idea for a video, Lucy. Many people don't realize how much camera expertise goes into a career like yours. Excellent content!!
I love Venice. It's great. The winter may be a bit dull, but it is more serene than in summer time. And it doesn't stink in winter.
I'm happy to see you back and being much more relaxed.
Lucy, this is absolutely stellar. The editing and music are atmospheric. It was really an interesting lens comparison as well. I have loved the idea of going to Venice in the winter, as I find the giant crowd of tourists overwhelming. It was beautiful.
13:00 There's just alot of birds here..."Ooh, a duck" 😂
Lucy genuinely smiling at the pretty lights is heartwarming.
Your video is proof that it is the eye rather than the gear, that determines the artistry of the shot.
Your photos are beautiful, great composition and lighting awareness.
It’s always a good day when there’s a new Lucy Brown video! And this one was awesome and engaging as always. Kudos to you and your videographer. Always look forward to these vids. Lucy Brown seems so confident and relaxed in front of the camera these days.

Fantastic footage, editing and insight to that lens Lucy. QQ. (happy trails in Venice) 🤩
It's Lucy Brown!!
What make and model camera do you use. MM lens?
Lucy Brown is my second favourite UA-camr that starts videos with "Let's find out".
Thanks for this great video and the great pictures. You have a great eye for capturing amazing images.

Amazing place. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for taking us with you.
Lucy Brown gets five out of five ichiban moto stickers !
Great video, very much enjoyed you sharing the trip! Yeah, the Dispo lens sucks...it ain't you...lol
I wish you gave your amazing photos a bit more screen time, especially the comparisons between Dispo and Normal.
Thanks for another great video. 👍

Genius idea going in the Winter. My mum went on an organized Summer trip and had a ghastly bad experience. Just too many people in a small space.

Loving the Dispo lens images. So much fun to experiment with different/ vintage lenses. Keep up the awesome work 👏

Lucy I use a watch called the Garmin Enduro 2. It tracks everything so if you feel lost it’s got maps. Brilliant when I went to Prague.
Best Video about Venice - I love the way you the Places.

This was an excellent video. I was surprised how intense the winter gear was for modest temperatures.
Thank you Lucy Brown! Lucy is right.. Always feel like sucha Peasant when in Italy. not just Venice.

Thanks Lucy, amazing Vid.
