I watched the whole sermon and this is the segment where Spirit revealed truth to me. We do have an obligation to honor our parents.
My dad is scheduled to be discharged from rehab from severe pneumonia. He's been acting rather depressed in not really participating in rehab hence the discharge. I was unsure whether to let him go back to his empty house, get him into long-term care, or move him into my house. The Spirit gave me the understanding that being with his family (me) is best for him, that he needs to be around people he knows, and that through our relationship I can reach through to him and help him be alive again. When I asked him yesterday morning, he agreed to move in for a while to see how it goes. The discharge plans have been updated and tomorrow morning he's moving into my house. God has been supplying my needs to accomplish this 48-hour feat of preparation so far by teaching me how to repurpose what I have to provide furnishing for a room, by keeping the last mattress of the correct size in stock at the store last night, and by making my work schedule short today to get more prep work done.
One thing I'm learning in my short time since Jesus saved me is God does like to take what we don't think we can or don't want to do and turning it to His glory. He does like to confound the wise. The whole taking care of my parents things was one of the reasons I moved out of the house years ago. I could see a day like this coming and I didn't want it. Now God has me running toward it.

I am an Albanian christian .Among the Albanians it is a disgrace to send your parents to the foster home .Usually the parents live with the youngest male child.

The Amish are the model to follow in taking care of elderly parents. They build big enough houses to have a wing of their houses available for ageing parents. Their communities and churches also practice the same model. We, as Christians, don't care or comprehend this anymore.
