Honestly, it would be more helpful if you could name one or two that could be purchased in a store like Walmart, target or Whole Foods making it a little more attainable.
I wish these were available in stores, but unfortunately in general, most store options are not the safest. These brands are on Amazon and hopefully they will become more mainstream and end up in stores. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video! So incredibly helpful! And thank you for showing your sources! So I can share with friends and family. I get a lot of flack for being a “granola mom”.
Thanks for watching! It’s so important to cite and share sources 💯 to understand the logic and rationale behind my assessments. I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
My baby has been using pampers swaddlers diapers, but I recently switched her diaper wipes to healthybaby wipes (from pampers) and I am now looking for better diaper options for her. Gonna try EcoPea because they have a coupon making them cheaper than ecoriginals, but thankfully Amazon sells ecorginials (so I can skip the $10 shipping fee) and I’ll try those if EcoPea doesn’t work out. Thank you!!
This was very informative, thank you. I am planing on going 100% organic cotton, like we did as babies, but this helps in case we need to travel somewhere. Could you maybe make a video about which toilet paper is the best? 😊
i’m about two months out from my first baby so this is very well timed! we were going to try the ewg verified diapers, wondering what your thoughts are on those? they’re “healthybaby” i would love more new parent focused videos!! we have been trying to avoid toxins for all our furniture and baby products we’re buying.
Thanks for watching! I’ll post a detailed review of popular non toxic diaper brands. Hello Bello is included! It’s not my top pick, but one of the better ones.
They would have the same concerns since they’re essentially the same product. However, adults are not as susceptible to toxic injury like babies. For female incontinence, period underwear are an option. I made a video about them.
I purchased the Eco orginals via Amazon but unfortunately it takes so long to arrive but thats not the problem, the problem was that the diapers that I got arrived expired.
Kudos for getting safe diapers for your baby! So sorry to hear. Did you reach out to the seller? I'm not sure if I've noticed an expiration date on diapers. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
Hello 👋 from California! Great question! Biodegradable in this regard does not mean it’s compostable at home unfortunately. There are synthetic absorbent polymers and other materials in the diaper that won’t break down into nutrients for composting.
My only worry is the wetness indicator. But I only plan to use disposables for the newborn stage. So I'm not sure how much of an issue having one/or not would be. I'm leaning towards ecoriginals as I won't have an indicator with Reusables. I'm just worried about them sitting wet or dirty for long periods without my knowledge.
I feel you! I had the same concerns but got used to checking frequently and also paying attention to my kids' elimination patterns. They usually made faces and I also got a sense of how often they'd go based on their feeding patterns.
We used those for our first child and they're awesome! Back then I didn't check on the materials closely and I wouldn't use them anymore since finding diapers with better materials.
Hi. I needed some advice I emailed Dyper to find out if they are TCF. This was their reply "Our diapers are chlorine free. We currently use an elemental chlorine free (ECF) bleached, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood fluff pulp in our absorbent core. ECF bleaching is a chlorine-free process in that no elemental (molecular) chlorine is used in the bleaching sequences, and has been shown to result in an end product that is free of dioxins and toxic chemicals. In addition to this, ECF fluff pulp has been found to produce more fluff pulp using less resources, making it a more sustainable option when compared to totally chlorine free (TCF) bleached fluff pulp. " I'm a little confused, does this mean they aren't TCF? Would you still recommend this brand?
Yes because TCF is a claim that no brands can substantiate without contaminant testing, which most don’t even conduct in the first place. They’re buying fluff from suppliers who claim TCF without any data to back it up. Furthermore, even TCF can be contaminated with chlorine in the end product even if it wasn’t intentionally introduced. So far, the only brand that can substantiate any of their claims with contaminant test reports along with being plant-derived is Ecoriginals, which is why they’re my top pick. Dyper is the best store option imo.
@@dryvonneburkart thank you so much! This is very helpful! And it makes it alot less confusing for a first time mom! I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I wanted a safe "in store" option.
Can you give some links to brands that carry organic cotton cloth diapers? I have searched tirelessly and can only find those that use polyester against the skin.
I was using Eco by Naty, but they've switch their materials and I don't recommend them any more. I have used DM brand from Germany, but would have to check the materials again.
I see that you have affiliate links in your description, can you please disclose which brands you are affiliated with and receive compensation from? I’d like to take the word of someone credentialed, which is how i came to your videos, but it does make me uneasy that specific affiliate relationships aren’t expressly identified in the description, and that you don’t verbally mention affiliations in the video.
I may receive a small commission from Amazon Associates should you choose to purchase through my links. You’re in no way obligated to do so and the links are provided for convenience. I’m not affiliated with EcoPea.
Based on the website, they appear to be using petroleum-based materials and vaguely refer to their diapers being “free from lotions, parabens, latex, fragrance, and chlorine bleaching.” But, the only way to know if any of their claims are true is if they provide contaminant test reports if they’ve even conducted any.
I worry about bamboo, especially those made in China like Andy Pandy. My bamboo toilet paper m made in China was found to be highly contaminated with PFAS (who gives a crap brand).
Thanks for watching! My top pick does not use bamboo on the top sheet, but Andy Pandy is a better option than most. Plus, there is no way to avoid all toxicants in disposable diapers. The safest option is reusable organic cotton diapers.
