I made these after finding them on Pinterest. I can honestly say ( and I've cooked seitan lots of different ways) that this is The Best Seitan receipe out there. It's freaking amazing and I will be is using it for years to come! Thankyou so much!
YAAAYYYY!!!! Can't get a much better review than that. Thrilled and honoured you think it's the best. I hope to inspire you with even more deliciousness :D
I added 2 tbsp miso paste, ½ cup extra firm tofu, thyme as well as Montreal steak spice (salt free). I brushed them with some hickory smoked bbq sauce and my wife was blown away. She couldn't tell they weren't meat.
I want to adopt you, LOL! I'm a granny, an italian granny. I am 70 years old and I have been a meat eater for my entire life, until 4 months ago. I wish I did this transition many years ago, as I have never felt better, both physical and morally. I do not miss meat, but this is so darn good. Little Lady, your cooking hit the spot. This recipe for vegan seitan is scrumptious, couldn't be happier, I can have my vegan steak and eat it too! And it is really yummy! I just bought your book on Amazon, too. Thank you, sweet girl.
Hello Sam, I tried this recipe yesterday for the first time and It is absolutely stunning! Tender, fair, tasty, it’s just excellent! It was the first time but it will certainly not be the last. Thank you for this delicious recipe
I was never a fan of seitan but still kept trying new recipes. I'm so glad I made yours! It is the BEST seitan steak recipe! I love it and so did everyone in my household.
I cannot wait to make these! Thank you Sam for explaining why vegans might want to continue to eat steakless steak or meatless meatballs. I grew up on a farm and we slaughtered what we raised so I also ate lots of meat. I changed mine and my family's eating habits for our health and BOY has the last 5 months made a HUGE difference for us. I feel thankful for taking this new journey with you and all the other vegans out there. Keep up the great work and thank you for your recipes.

looks delish! Love the commentary at the end. I spent 50 years eating meat and dairy so I too like to recreate those things! But like you, I get that question too.
Yes! I've gotten that question (or usually more in the form of a statement or accusation) even from people I'm close too. I understand why people may think it's weird at first thought, because I'm sure I thought that way at first too, so I always like to help people understand veganism more. I'm a very logical person and veganism is extremely logical. Haha
I made these for my Mother's Day a few weeks ago and holy crap! They were so good that I've been dreaming about then since. I'm here because I'm making them again Monday. My zaughter HATED steak when we ate animals and ate two of these in one sitting. Thank you and yeah, I subscribed for sure. Thank you so much!💚
Sam!! I made these!!! They are amazing!! I ate a whole one while it was still grilling....I'm going to make up a big batch and freeze them for BBQ season. Thank you so so much!
how long can you freeze them for? I am going to try this! I love steak, only the way my grandpa made them. I tried to cook steak and failed lol... this is something I can do :)
Made these last night for my lady and I ... they were amazing. Excellent texture. I now have two in the freezer and am about to try the chicken tender recipe. Good job, Sam!
Omg - finally got to try this recipe tonight - it turned out brilliantly and my non vegan partner really liked it. Love being able to share a meal we both feel good about. Shes even packed the leftovers for a “steak” sandwich tomorrow 🤗. I grilled it and finished it with sautéed red onions and criminis. The recipe was Really easy to follow and the texture was amazing 👍💚🙏🏼. Thank you
Sam. I love 💘 you. There. I said it. I love you. This is the first recipe I have ever made for Seitan and it turned out FABULOUS!!! I made these steaks yesterday and marinated them overnight then cooked them today for my wife and my father in law. He is an avid carnivore and still believes he had the most tender and delicious Ribeye steak of his life for lunch! My wife loved it also! ❤ I served mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed broccoli and macaroni and cheese on the side. Absolutely incredibly, indelibly, fantastically delicious! Thank you!
I love your recipes and I completely understand what you're saying about people who grew up eating meat and dairy. I grew up in the country. We raised our own animals for slaughter. I can respect how my family raised their food but when I was 16 I said enough. I wasn't willing to take part anymore. I'm 54 niow.
As a beginner vegan, You are so fun to listen too! I just ordered one of your cookbooks. Butchered my vegan tacos, as my cooking skills need help. but I am encouraged and learning a lot. Thank you!!!
I totally made these and their pretty great. I’m from Texas so steak is like an every day thing here. It’ll be nice to be a part of steak night with the family every once in a while since they aren’t vegan. Only thing I’d change is the marinade. It makes it taste more teriyaki flavored and down south our steaks are more savory and spicy. Otherwise this was an awesome recipe. 10/10 recommend to vegan and non vegans alike 👏🏽😍
@@x777aria If you’re referring to Gaz Oakley’s “Vegan steak, chips and peppercorn sauce” video, his recipe includes a sauce, not a BBQ marinade. I tend to search for “carne asada marinade” which is darn yummy.
Thank you for this recipe. I bought vital wheat gluten and my sister made a recipe with it I didn't care for. Then I found you on the Vegan Holistic Holiday at Sea cruise and I am falling in love with so many new recipes out of your Fast Easy Cheap vegan cookbook. I am thrilled to try this Vegan Seitan Steak because I trust your taste because I have had so many of your recipes. My husband and I are enjoying your biscuit mix, pancake mix, macaroni and cheese mix, and cake mix. Thank you, Thank you!! I'm planning on buying more of your cookbooks. Hope to see you on the 2024 Holistic Holiday at Sea cruise again.
I just followed this recipe to a tee and OMG! I'm not a vegan - i'm not even a vegetarian. Steak is my number 1 favourite food in the world. But i don't like the fat or the worry that i might chow down on a piece of gristle. However, after trying this "steak" there is no reason for me to buy a steak ever again because this is better! It's not just as good as - it's better! I finished this "steak" about 5 minutes ago and i can still feel the heat in my mouth (in a good way). Thank you so much for this recipe!
Made this tonight, used cooked black beans (I didn't want to wait for lentils and couldn't find them cooked and canned here), I enjoyed these and had one for lunch today. Very tasty I have to say. Planning to enjoy the remainder for dinner tomorrow!
Can't wait to try this! And everything you said after is so true! I've been vegetarian for a few years and after getting your book I've been increasing more and more vegan meals...and a couple of months ago decided to go for it and go fully vegan! Your cheese recipes are such a staple in our house, I've had your cookbook the least amount of time but just flicking through it you can see how well used it is! So much more than the others! Thanks for all your amazing recipes! 💛💛💛
I started out following your blog and just found out you have a UA-cam channel and I absolutely love you. I feel so at ease and relaxed whenever I watch you. You’re super bubbly and I just love your voice! ❤️❤️❤️
You remind me so much of one of my sweetest friends, Alana, she's equally enthusiastic when speaking. She always makes me smile. I look forward to trying this recipe and throughly loved the Irish stew recipe.
What a lovely, lively, beautiful lady you are. I’m at the very beginning of trying to go Vegan, your videos are incredibly informative and helpful. You have such good energy too.
Found you on Pinterest and looked for UA-cam video. Glad I did. I am one who can not stand the taste of meat any more due to illness and medications and have eaten seitan for years on and off but wanted a better recipe for steaks and from those comments it looks like I have found a winner. Thank you for your time posting this.
Been keeping these soooo easy to make steaks in the freezer since they’re such craving abolishers! It’s so cool to knead without dusting the table first, isn’t it? Just a suggestion for lowering the final sodium content: I rinse & drain the canned lentils prior to incorporating. Also, it’s been fun playing with different types of liquid smoke types (pecan, hickory, mesquite, apple.) BTW, forgot to mention when I’d responded on your blog for the steak recipe that you did an AMAZING job with the lighting for that awesome pic! I really appreciate your preaching comment, you’re such an eloquent speaker for clarifying vegan misconceptions...soooo helpful and affirming, Sam.
Thank you so much for addressing that comment! You have a great attitude and I love your spunky, fun, upbeat, and also down to earth personality, Sam!! These vegan steaks look fantastic!! I want to try them for our next BBQ, and we just got a grill, so I'm excited to try grilling them outside!
I just did your recipe and it looks exactly like yours, i even let it in the food processor a little longer until it was a ball, worked really well. Now it's going into the pan for a pre cook and then to the grill cause today i have a barbecue party ! Long live veganism!
Just made these. So yummy. Super delicious and fairly easy to make. I had to only buy liquid smoke but had everything else in my pantry. Thank you so much!
This was the best seitan ever!!!!! I have tried so many recipe of seitan but this recipe was the best and easiest !!!! 2nd time when I cook this, I used Tamari + Shiokoji mixed instead of soysauce. That was also good. I love the idea which is mixing all ingrudience in a food processor. Love this recipe soo much !!!! And I love all of your videos!!!!!!! Thank you very much.
I can’t wait to try this - it looks so delicious. I wanted to add also that the reason for faux meat in my blended household ( my partner- trying hard to be a pescatarian and me vegan ) is that it’s nice to have something we’ll both enjoy. I think the meat replicas can be a good bridge and a starting point for folks just beginning their path to plant based. Thank you 🙏🏼!!
Just made this again last night - so good. I modified slightly - I substituted two of the tablespoons of water with some vegan steak sauce - really good! Anyway, thanks for all you do, keep the smiles and delicious recipes coming! Peace!
Awesome and contagious energy! I am not vegetarian but love your recipes. All your dishes make my mouth water and when comes to taste is it literally makes my face melt away ;)))) Love your website. Recipes are easy to print or tailor for a different amount of servings. Yeep - Yeep hurry! Go, girl! Spread the love !!! :)))
I LOVED this recipe!! This is the first time I have made Seitan and I am so glad That this is the recipe I found! My husband and kiddo kept eating it (even thought I was part of my meal prep for the week 🤦🏻♀️). I will ABSOLUTELY be making this again! Thank you!
Thank you for your talk afterwards. Now I know how to answer those who ask me the same question. I'll definitely be making your recipe soon, looks delish. 💙
She is a riot BUBBLY PERSONALITY. Good recipe. I know how to make seitan, and I saw some seitan steaks, but I could not figure out how to make the steak out of the seitan I had made. Now I see what she has done with the lentils and all of that and steaming it after she makes the dough with those ingredients in it. So I am now ready to make my own. Thanks, SAM (which I guess means Samantha).
Sam, I have just made these and currently tucking into a steak sandwich! OH MY LORDY LORDY! Absolutely delicious, this is one of the easiest steak recipes I have tried and I have got to confirm to anyone out there looking for a good vegan steak, this is most def the BEST! BOOM! Brilliant, Thank you so much :) x P.S I bet you could also blend it back into a crumb and use for spag bol or shepherds pie? I might have to make another batch and try.
Just made them and they turned out amazing!! The closet thing to steak and burgers I could find. Now I need to make a bunch for the upcoming camping trips and bbq them over a camp fire!
I am having a tough day but your videos really cheer me up and motivate me to cook more often. I am a semi vegetarian and hope to one day work my way up to being vegan!! Love your bubbly personality and energy!! Lots of love from Peru!!!!💕
Hi Sam... Thanks for this recipe. I finally had some lentilsin my stock and I said wow I said I have everything up for this recipe so I made it today and it was delicious even my little puppy girl loved it!! I will be making these again I just changed it up a little of the seasoning and I put no salt in. I used 1 tbsp of tamari and then I used 1 tbsp of Marmite. I think next time I use more Marmite. Thanks again for a delicious recipe 👍🧡🤗
So I know I’m super late to the game but I found you eons ago, on your website, when I needed a vegan stew recipe (I’ve made yours a gazillion times by now, btw, as it’s loved by all, vegan and not) and my oblivious butt JUST realized you have a UA-cam. Anyway, I’ll be cooking this steak, tonight, as everything you make is great so I know my family is in for treat but also, I love your vintage kitchen! Subscribed! ❤️ Update: I made them and they were a huge hit by everyone (even the non-vegans)! Thank you, so much! If I had to change anything, it would be upping the quantity so I had more to freeze for later. 🤤
I made these and were amazed on how much they taste like steak! I grilled them on a grill pan and they looked amazing too. Great with a baked potato on the side!😉
That is a great point Sam! Of course sometimes ppl may still miss animal products they used to eat. Makes complete sense. So happy I came across your channel a few months ago. 💛❤💛❤💛❤
I just tried this recipe and it's mind-blowingly delicious as everything you always do. I never liked seitan until I tried this recipe. Thank you so much :)
I haven’t had steak in nine years, so I can’t remember how it tasted in perfect detail, but I tried this recipe and it’s really delicious. It doesn’t taste or have the same texture of how I used to eat steaks (medium rare), but it does have a nice chewy texture and a rich savory taste with a touch of sweetness from the syrup. I’ll be making a lot more of these from now on.
You can use a bread maker on knead setting to form the dough. Cleaner and easier. Black beans or kidney beans can replace lentils. A spoon of marmite boosts the flavour further.
Hi Sam! Loved the video - when I attempted to make these steaks (before watching the video)! - the gluten mixture turned into a strong, unkneadable rubbery band type thing and would not mix! Consequently my seitan steaks were horrible! I could tell that they would have tasted fab if I hadn't made whatever mistake I made! What do you think I could have done wrong? I'd love your advice as I'm desperate to make these again - but without nearly breaking my vitamix! xxx
Mix the dough in a food processor (not a blender). Blenders to better with liquid things where food processors are better with solids. Then knead to combine. The dough will be very stretchy and strong and rubberband like. Make sure you measure all the ingredients correctly. Hope that helps, glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey Sam! I have 2 vegan craving responses to your sweet invite: I am addicted to your Macho Nacho Popcorn Seasoning from your wonderful cookbook. Can you give us some other🍿seasoning ideas? The other request will go against your Fuss-Free Philosophy, which I don’t mean to negate. I cannot find a butter recipe that does not include the saturated fat laden coconut and/or palm oils. I would love if you could provide a healthier, yet satiating vegan butter recipe. I know it sounds like I’m being quixotic in this quest outside of fats that are solid at room temp. But perhaps utelizing agar agar, kappa carrageenan, etc. instead? Help me, O Canadian Vegoddes‼️
Thank you so much Sam! :) One further question - I am in the UK - could you tell me what is the equivalent measurement in grams or mls of one cup? (sorry if that is a really dumb question)! You're a star - I love your videos and enthusiasm - THANK YOU! X
I am a new vegetarian in a strongly carnivorous family and I like these meat-like recipes because it fits into large family suppers easier. At Thanksgiving, the entire extended family meal is planned around slices of roast turkey; with meat-like recipes like this, I only need to bring the appropriate seitan slices. I dont have to do extra work before arrival, not do I have to take up valuable stove top realty when supper is cooking.
Sam! Everytime I follow a recipe and it comes out amazing... I look up at whos recipe it was... and its always yours! Absolutely love it! Keep up the great recipes..Gonna try this one tonight :) Id love to see a recipe for vegan poutine !!!
Thank you so much, Derek! Thrilled to hear that. You're in luck because I already have a poutine recipe :) itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/the-ultimate-vegan-poutine/
Thank you for showing us how to make this :) I wanted to try the recipe, but I felt intimidated for some reason:) Now I see that it is easy! I cannot wait to try it! :) Thank you again Sam!
Already had it as a steak with steamed green beans fresh from garden and then used it thinly sliced in Hot for Food's gyro wrap from her book. Both were delicious. Thanks again for all of your wonderful recipes. You are by far my greatest resource for recipes.
Growing up the only meat that didn't gross me out (I was annoyingly picky in general, like picking all cheese all my pizza ha) was steak and I would even go outside on our snow covered New England deck to grill in the cold like a little crazy person. This video triggered that weird old memory :) Basically this is a nostalgic meal for me and the first thing I cooked on my own so it's good to have an option in line with my own personal evolution. I'll be making this as it looks delicious and thanks yet again
Love the video. I love making plant based steaks. People should stop saying stupid things like "Why make substitutes?" I rather eat something that's a substitute, feel good about it when I'm eating it and feel healthy. I like the texture of meat and the flavor so if I can substitute with these cool dishes, it's nothing wrong with it. My reason for transitioning wasn't for the same reason most people do. Mine was because I just don't trust the meat that's produced nowadays. I noticed that once I started eliminating meat out of my diet, the pain in my fingers which could have easily been developing arthritis, went away. An old unchecked injury to my left foot that I had for a year healed itself after one month of no meat. The bottom of my feet used to hurt and feel tight in the mornings when I first woke up. One month after no meat eating, I can jump out of bed. Coincidence? I think not... so because I like the way meat taste, the way it is seasoned, and the texture of it in my mouth, I welcome the various meatless plant-based meat. Besides this makes you become a chef in the kitchen LOL.
Always love seeing the thumbs up rule. We will be making these very soon. I venture to say the dough would make great vegan burgers, meatballs etc. as well. I love the fact that you can put them right in the freezer.
First time, ehh not sure I like these honey. Second time these are pretty good, third time these just keep getting better!! I HONESTLY have no clue what steak tastes like, but these things are good. Fun to experiment with also.
Okay so I showed my not yet vegan 15 year old son the image of your Seitan Steak and said, "So if I make this, will you try it?" to which he replied, "Actually! Yes I would." This made me feel excited and inspired to make it in the very near future:)
I'm looking forward to making these, I've followed your chocolate cake recipe a few times and it's amazing so I'm pretty confident this will also be, thank you most kindly. ps- great speech, I may interpret some of it into a conversation if I get cornered again , if you don't mind🙂.
Thank you so much!! Yes, liquid smoke is safe to eat. To quote this article from Nutrition Facts: "It turns out that most of the carcinogens in smoke are fat soluble, so when we make a water-based solution, like liquid smoke, we capture the smoke flavor compounds without capturing most of the smoke cancer compounds. The only time we need to really worry is when eating smoked foods-foods directly exposed to actual smoke." nutritionfacts.org/2015/04/14/does-liquid-smoke-cause-cancer/
I will definitely have to order some vital wheat gluten! I have never had it so I’m looking forward to making these steaks and a lot of other stuff!!! Mmmmmmm thank you!
Hey Sam! I tried this recipe for the first time tonight (never used vital wheat gluten before!) and omg it took me 10-15mins to clean my food processor after making these 😂 so sticky and the steaks also stuck to my steamer basket lol. They tasted good but i think i will put less chili and soy sauce in next time 😊
I made these after finding them on Pinterest. I can honestly say ( and I've cooked seitan lots of different ways) that this is The Best Seitan receipe out there. It's freaking amazing and I will be is using it for years to come! Thankyou so much!

Really?
Sabrina Gardner Honestly, I love this receipe
I know I seem like Tom Cruise bouncing on a couch right now but yeah....good protein sources are important lol
thewinterland Cool'. I look forward to trying it too, then.
I love this woman's energy&recipes. She seems so high on life.
I added 2 tbsp miso paste, ½ cup extra firm tofu, thyme as well as Montreal steak spice (salt free). I brushed them with some hickory smoked bbq sauce and my wife was blown away. She couldn't tell they weren't meat.

Did you try it already?

Thank you so much.

Use Tamari instead of soy sauce for a more rich deep flavor and don’t add maple syrup but some steak rub and olive oil instead
I’ve been cooking this an even my dad loves it . It’s amazing . Thank you

Could you please come up with a tuna salad recipe? It's the thing that I miss the most.

Planning to make this & curious about what you used/would use.
check out avant garde vegan's steak !! he uses a really yummy homemade bbq sauce
Whenever you say ”Hi friends" my girlfriend says "hiii" back.
Hahaha! I love that!!!!
That's amazing, Annie! Congratulations!! I'm so very happy that you are loving my book so much too :)
I started out following your blog and just found out you have a UA-cam channel and I absolutely love you. I feel so at ease and relaxed whenever I watch you. You’re super bubbly and I just love your voice! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh wow thank you so much, Na'Tasia! I get a lot of people on here hating my voice, so it's lovely to know that at least you love it :D Haha.
You are amazing and so gracious with your responses, you are one happy Vegan 🌱
It always cheers me up watching you 💞🌻
Thank you so much, Carol!
Yay!! Thrilled you love them so much! And thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments and your support :D
I pan fried it with good bbq sauce right before serving. It changed from amazing to bizarrely like real meat. Thank you again and again Sam.
Thank you so much, Lucia! I hope you love the steaks :D
I just did your recipe and it looks exactly like yours, i even let it in the food processor a little longer until it was a ball, worked really well. Now it's going into the pan for a pre cook and then to the grill cause today i have a barbecue party ! Long live veganism!
Very well said at the end of the video! Thanks!
Great video and your closing comments about the broader meanings of food were spot on. Love your book too! Working my way through! Cheers!
Thanks for the recipe Sam! You are awesome! Keep doing what you're doing, you have a real talent and I love your positivity!
Aww thank you so much! :D
I hope you enjoy the steaks starr!
Just made this again last night - so good. I modified slightly - I substituted two of the tablespoons of water with some vegan steak sauce - really good! Anyway, thanks for all you do, keep the smiles and delicious recipes coming! Peace!
Thank you so much, Chris! Thrilled you enjoyed it so much :D
Thank you!
Yay! So happy you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for your talk afterwards. Now I know how to answer those who ask me the same question.
I'll definitely be making your recipe soon, looks delish. 💙
Awesome! So happy I could help :)
Hi Sam I made these yesterday my wife and I really liked them , again thanks for the recipe good steaks the best i've tried yet :)
Awesome!! I'm so happy to hear that :)
I have got to try this!!!! Thank you for the recipe! You are an inspiration to me
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome! So happy you enjoyed the video :)
Ooooh that would be soo yummy! Thrilled you loved them so much :)
Subscribed! ❤️
Update: I made them and they were a huge hit by everyone (even the non-vegans)! Thank you, so much! If I had to change anything, it would be upping the quantity so I had more to freeze for later. 🤤
I think you are my new favorite person. Your bubbly silly energy is sooo wonderful. I’m making these right now and inviting company!!!! :-D
Awww shucks, thank you so much, Cathy :D
I made these and were amazed on how much they taste like steak! I grilled them on a grill pan and they looked amazing too. Great with a baked potato on the side!😉
I made thi for dinner today-first time using VWG as I made my own seitan by flour wash method previously. Came out beautiful;! Thankyou!
Your ending comments are spot on. You are wise beyond your years and Canadian.. win-win! 👏🏽😉
Thank you so much!
That is a great point Sam! Of course sometimes ppl may still miss animal products they used to eat. Makes complete sense. So happy I came across your channel a few months ago. 💛❤💛❤💛❤
Thank you! I'm so happy I helped it make sense :)
I just tried this recipe and it's mind-blowingly delicious as everything you always do. I never liked seitan until I tried this recipe. Thank you so much :)
This was a great recipe! Steaming worked so much better than boiling, very pleased with the results! Hail seitan lol!!
Yay!! Thrilled you enjoyed it so much, Steve :)
I hope you enjoyed this video! What vegan deliciousness are you craving next?
Hey Sam!
I have 2 vegan craving responses to your sweet invite:
I am addicted to your Macho Nacho Popcorn Seasoning from your wonderful cookbook.
It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken I will buy your cookbook eventually, and I hope you write more in the future or design your own app as well!
Wow! I just prepared it and it's awesome! Thank you so much for the recipe 😋😋
Thank you for your explanation at the end. It was PERFECT. Can't wait to try these.
My pleasure :)
You got lovely energy. Thank you.
My husband was just saying to me, "Can't we have some of that fake meat at least?" Nooo!! I'm gonna make Seitan Steak!! Yay!
Haha! I hope you enjoy the steaks!!
Update: this recipe didnt disappoint! Hands down the best seitan steak ive ever had! Thank you again! Much love from hershey pennsylvania
So much energy... You're so funny and fun! Thank you.
Thank you so much, Simon!
Thank you for showing us how to make this :) I wanted to try the recipe, but I felt intimidated for some reason:) Now I see that it is easy! I cannot wait to try it! :) Thank you again Sam!
Perfect! So happy I could show you how easy it really is. I hope you love it when you give it a try :)
Finally made these. Love this recipe and will definitely make it again.
Already had it as a steak with steamed green beans fresh from garden and then used it thinly sliced in Hot for Food's gyro wrap from her book. Both were delicious. Thanks again for all of your wonderful recipes. You are by far my greatest resource for recipes.
Oh wow!! Thrilled you loved it so much and honoured to be your go-to resource!
Last time someone said that to me I said well you’re the one who coats meat in plants to make it taste good 😂
Growing up the only meat that didn't gross me out (I was annoyingly picky in general, like picking all cheese all my pizza ha) was steak and I would even go outside on our snow covered New England deck to grill in the cold like a little crazy person. This video triggered that weird old memory :) Basically this is a nostalgic meal for me and the first thing I cooked on my own so it's good to have an option in line with my own personal evolution. I'll be making this as it looks delicious and thanks yet again
Haha!! Well you can re-live the memory and grill this up in the winter too! Love that story, I hope you love the steak :)
I'm sooo trying this!! You're so lovely, thanks for the recipe!! Hugs from Argentina!!
Aww thank you! I hope you enjoy it! Hugs from Canada :)
That's great, Art! Yes, there are so many benefits to a plant-based diet. :)
I am going to try this recipe! Thanks for sharing!
You're most welcome! I hope you love it!
Always love seeing the thumbs up rule. We will be making these very soon. I venture to say the dough would make great vegan burgers, meatballs etc. as well. I love the fact that you can put them right in the freezer.
I also liked the part you put in around 10:00. So true.
You are so lovely! Its a pleasures to watch your videos and you always so right. This seitan is great btw the best I have done
First time, ehh not sure I like these honey. Second time these are pretty good, third time these just keep getting better!! I HONESTLY have no clue what steak tastes like, but these things are good. Fun to experiment with also.
I’ve made these and ohhh my god they taste delicious 😋
Okay so I showed my not yet vegan 15 year old son the image of your Seitan Steak and said, "So if I make this, will you try it?" to which he replied, "Actually! Yes I would." This made me feel excited and inspired to make it in the very near future:)
Awesome!!
Thank you, Sam! Your seitan looks great. Going to make it for sure!
Made these today!! Super easy and super yummy! This is legit, guys. 🤘
Yay!!! Thrilled you enjoyed them so much!!
Thank you making my next batch ❤️😊❤️😊😊
Every time I will start cooking with a smile
It will be fun also!
This time I am amazed!
But I will try it!
Enjoy!
💌That's really cool! First Vegan steak I have ever seen made!
You are so entertaining😁 thanks for the recipe!! This is the first Seitan I will attempting and judging from the comments I have lots of confidence.
Thank you, Stephanie! I hope you love it :)
I'm looking forward to making these, I've followed your chocolate cake recipe a few times and it's amazing so I'm pretty confident this will also be, thank you most kindly. ps- great speech, I may interpret some of it into a conversation if I get cornered again , if you don't mind🙂.
Hi Sam, Can't wait to make these but I'm not able to get hold of liquid smoke but I do have smoked paprika. Could I substitute and if so how much?
Half a teaspoon of smoked paprika will be fine.
@@kelbeegee4454 Thank you,
@@andrewangelawilliams9470 No problem! Enjoy!😋
VERY entertaining! Thank you for the healthy recipe! Can't wait to try it. I always wondered about liquid smoke. Is it really safe to eat?
Thank you so much!! Yes, liquid smoke is safe to eat. To quote this article from Nutrition Facts: "It turns out that most of the carcinogens in smoke are fat soluble, so when we make a water-based solution, like liquid smoke, we capture the smoke flavor compounds without capturing most of the smoke cancer compounds. The only time we need to really worry is when eating smoked foods-foods directly exposed to actual smoke." nutritionfacts.org/2015/04/14/does-liquid-smoke-cause-cancer/
Love your personality and kitchen. Subscribed ❤
I will definitely have to order some vital wheat gluten! I have never had it so I’m looking forward to making these steaks and a lot of other stuff!!! Mmmmmmm thank you!
You're most welcome, Jenny :)
Bob’s Red Mill makes a great vital wheat gluten.
Hey Sam! I tried this recipe for the first time tonight (never used vital wheat gluten before!) and omg it took me 10-15mins to clean my food processor after making these 😂 so sticky and the steaks also stuck to my steamer basket lol. They tasted good but i think i will put less chili and soy sauce in next time 😊
Weird! That never happens to me, not sure why it was such a sticky mess for you!
Wow that's awesome. I love it. "Have your steak & be vegan too" 😎🖒
Hahaha! Yesssss!
I'm so in love with this lady!
The steak look really tasty I will make this soon thank you
Did you used oil after you steamed it? I mean in the pan? 🙂🤔🤔
This looks so good Sam thank you for recipe and a good video :)
You're most welcome!
