finished floor level doesn't have to be brick gauge/dpc level, most older properties dont work that way. What you need to think of is height of door thresholds and where the finished floor meets it. If client wants level threshold on a door that has a 90mm upstanding then you need to drop it a course. As a bricklayer you need to be level at certain points, damp, ceiling/first floor joist, ceiling to bedrooms. Each maybe adjusted depending on job. Lesson over keep up the great work 👍
A good lesson demonstrated, it’s never happened to me but have taken jobs over, and the floor heights were right at one knock through and wrong at another because of an internal step. When the builder realised they left the site and said they were to busy and the height they picked was 100 mm to high, so the new solid concrete floor had to be reduced. Never presume it’s right, double check in the building. Presumption being the mother of all fuck ups.😁
Izzy, that alleyway was tight!! Great info on the air vents, blockwork and floor prep work. Good Maths skills mate! I'd have been there all day, working that out! Looking good lads! Great work!
Well he's still young and keen!😅 Let's see how he feels in another few years of chasing white elephants. Work must be getting tighter. Owner/chancer/bodger must be chuffed up to have found such an eager couple of lads to take that shite on.
Izzy’ your a good lad but a bricklayers dream has nothing to do with concrete blocks, I’d also be very careful with the jobs where people pulled off, good luck
great video and those 7 newton concs are horrible, I've laid a lot of those and my hands even with gloves get torn up, may have to invest in the gloves you have!
Those particular 7N are horrible. They don't take the frost very well either if you have a rough face exposed. They must be cheap because all the merchants round here have started doing them. I like the Site white cloth gloves with blue dots on them, (screwfix). They last about a week, and you don't sweat in them.
Is that a bay going in at the front with the beam cantilevered over Izzy . If so do you still have to brick up to damp or is it constructed out of timber???
have you come across the Fisco FSCBMC08 Brick Mate Measure tape, 8m Length. I've just bought one to help me out on a build I'm hoping to do later this year. think you might like it.
Yes I will second that fantastic tape for brickwork, great for setting building out, gauging corners laying out runs etc. Defo a must have tool for DIY / apprentices.
Isac it might pay to find out why the other brickys left that's a red flag for me mate and you sometimes find with customers who are quite handy seem to think they know it all and try to tell you how to do your job or the worst one is not getting paid for your work just be cautious mate

Expertly fitted then the next one falls down cavity😆 happens to best of us mate don't worry haha
Do love them diagrams
Imagine living next to this monstrosity. At 2 mins in the first extension roof hangs over the boundary line about a foot.
You can still use 100mm cavity with new regs we use 90mm rigid tongue and groove cavity bats
Excellent mate. Gonna be some size when its done.
Any Internals getting thrown up?
👍🏻

Why is there loads of rubble under the block and beam floor??
