Its insane how well this show aged, and its insane how far the activity has grown from this point, Lassiter was probably the only band in the nation who could tackle this show, and 22 years later 50+ groups could 100% tackle this show, just so ahead of the curve
This is my absolute favorite marching band show. I've probably watched this well-over 1,000 times since I got the video back in 2003. What an amazing performance and arrangement. Must have been A LOT of work to coordinate this show for the season.
I lived about two miles down the road from Lassiter during their BOA runs. They'd rehearse every day except Wednesday and Sunday. Could hear their band director (Alfred Watkins) tearing them a new one over the long ranger when he needed to 😅
I have never realized it until now with this clearer picture, but those woodwinds at the end are literally running! AND ITS GOOD TECHNIQUE TOO! 2002 Lassiter is still hands down the best group of all time in my opinion
It’s not often that I have to applaud an individual in a teamwork-oriented sport like marching band, but that clarinet player jazz running across the 30 yard line at 10:43 really killed that challenging drill!
Wow this is amazing!! The quality is night and day better than the previous versions available, even the VHS tapes that we had. Love this! Thank you for sharing this, Aaron.
Mr. A. Watkins was truly the primary reason for this show's success. As a director, he was and still is to this day admired for all of his accomplishments. He definitely was a hard ass when he needed to be and would have us run the show 5-6 times a night trying to make it as perfect as possible. I was in this show and can honestly say without that man, we wouldn't have even been in this competition.
The man is a genius. I had the honor of working under his instruction with our band as a guest at Lassiter HS ahead of the ‘06 St. Pete Super Regional. It was an honor and a pleasure and we may not have made finals without his criticism.
Brother why did you write this as if it wasn't 22 YEARS ago - genuine crazy work considering this was the show that won them grand nats for a second time
The musicality of this show and performance is off the charts. This show would still be great to see live in todays environment. Bravo!

this might be one of the best shows by a hs band ever. they killed it

Instilled a whole lot of discipline in us

The picture and color in this video is SO MUCH BETTER than the other videos 😍
Very nice show! Excellent formations and by far one of the better color guards I’ve seen. So together!
What an absolutely wonderful show!!
Top 3 high school marching band shows for me: 1. 1990 Pope High School - Swan Lake, 2. 1991 Pope High School - Les Miserables, 3. 2002 Lassiter.

Great memories from a parent!
Appreciate this, Aaron. 👍🏼🙏🏼

I aspire to compose music of this calibre.

The Hebron of the early 2000s
Hey does anyone have a transcription of that French horn feature
THIS IS MY BAND!!!! WE'RE GOING BACK TO BOA THIS YEAR! 😋
Awesome! I go to woodstock. Are you performing October 7?
low brass at 3:28 😩😩
They need more symbolism in their drill style.
You don’t realize how far ahead of its time Lassiter was.
