Great video as alway Peter! I would have gone with Deanston 12 or Tobermory 12 instead the Illicit Still to start but this was the best flight yet, none the less! Also, in my opinion, the Lore and the 10 Cask Strength are the best of Laphroaig.
Well thought out lineup Peter. You should have called this video "Top 5 Intermediate/Advanced Scotch Part 3". 🥃 If this was my group, I'd replace the Tomatin with the delightful Aultmore 18 and my 6th bottle would be the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition. Those PX Sherry casks...❤ I have not tried the Tamdhu. Very tempting...
When I started the series I toyed with the idea of the titles being different as I went through part 1,2, and 3. Beginner, Intermediate and then advanced, but as you can tell I stuck with beginner. I like Aultmore. Very underrated and overlooked whisky. PX casks are magical.
I haven't found the Illicit Still yet, but I will pick it up at some point. Love the Craigellachie and the Clynelish. I haven't tried the Tamdhu or the Tomatin. I tend to prefer ex-bourbon to ex-sherry, but I'm starting to appreciate sherry more. I love the peat (and Laphroaig) but I haven't found Lore yet. That's a terrific line-up.
I have never seen Lore in my area and I have been slowly dipping into the bottle knowing it's a hard bottle to get. It will be a sad day when it's gone.
This would be a great tasting for me as I have had none of these! I'd have to think for a while about what lineup I would put together for a scotch tasting as people's reaction to proof is hard to predict. At our local monthly scotch club it's always interesting what lineups they come up with on a budget of $500.
Unfortunately, this flight was not budget friendly as someone already commented. It would be north of the $500 budget for the club. But I think it's a challenging flight to finish off the series with. Cheers!
I have a Balblair 15 in my collection, but something had to left out. Although it will be part of a future video when I cover my 15 year old scotch. Cheers!
Let me clarify. I'm not recommending beginners buy these bottles. I'm putting together a tasting for beginners. Also keep in mind this is part 3 of the series. Less expensive bottles were covered in part one.
great series, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Great list. I'd add something from Ledaig, Glenallachie, and Kilchoman. These are also cheaper than some of your picks.
I like your picks a lot. Ledaig 10, Glen Allachie 12 , and anything from Kilchoman would be solid additions to a flight... And less expensive. Cheers!

Thank you Kevin. I liked this flight as well. Going from light and fruity to smokey sweet was a treat. Cheers!

Just came across your videos… at these price points no Balblair ?

Beginner scotch for rich people !
It's very easy to recommend whiskeys so expensive

Too many good bourbons and not enough time to waste on Scotch IMO. 🥃
I have to stay whisk(e)y promiscuous, but I get it. Scotch is not for everyone. I won't hold it against you Dave. 😁 Cheers!
