      I feel like it had the most potential and Ubisoft squandered it. One of the best story lines, an amazing historical setting, incredible music score, and they didn't put enough effort into making it truly great. I loved playing Unity, I really did, but the bugs were so game-breaking for me that it really detracted from my enjoyment. However the Dead Kings DLC, which had non-existent bugs save for a random problem when I went to load sometimes, showed me what could have been for the entire game. Arno is one of my favorites and it pains me that Ubisoft didn't think it was worth the effort to properly develop his game, because without the bugs it really is one of the best they ever did.

    5:00 - the moment you see this amazing indoor graphics. It blew my mind how something that is just rastirazed can have so beautiful lighting and shading. Unity, despite early adoption problems and bugs, was, and still in some cases is, the most beautiful looking game to date. Not because of infite landscape. It's because the insane attention to indoor detail and lighting. Reflections from polished floors, ambient occlusion on all of statues and fountains. It was truly insane to experience.

    • @Aelwyn
      @Aelwyn 6 років тому +52

      Vahel Yashar It's because they're whiny about not getting what they want and because Arno is similar to Ezio they pout and automatically hate it because he isn't. They bash Elise and call Arno a lovesick puppy even though Ezio was the same way about Christina. Basically they hate it because they can, they find all the reasons they can to justify it, and then ruin it for everyone else. My impression of Arno after being on Tumblr was NOT a good one, but as soon as I started playing it he quickly became one of my favorites. Honestly I LIKE the fact that each Assassin is different and unique in their own way. It makes them more well-rounded as characters if they have unique strengths and flaws.

    • @ParlonsAstronomie
      @ParlonsAstronomie 5 років тому +1

      I played it this year, and it is not great.
      The free run doesn't work so you can't go the way you planned, this kill the liberty and the feeling powerness. Coupled with the Paris' like building it make the free run just not fun. We avoid free-runing, a shame for an AC game.
      They deleated a lot of sneaky features, it takes too much time and doesn't work wen there is too much gard and there is always a ton of gards.
      Fighting can be enjoyable but only when there is few opponant, which is rarely the case. You finnish spaming smoke bomb.
      So each part of what makes AC games good games were not good. If you add it the lot of gleach I can understand the hate.
      The sides stories were great yet.

    • @CarolineCrazyAngel
      @CarolineCrazyAngel 5 років тому +8

      After all those memes on tumblr, about how Arno is sad, depressed and miserable, I was very surprised to find out he's not. And he's way sassier than Ezio ever was! I loved Unity, though constant crashes and unpleasant gameplay almost made me give up playing. I finished it only for the story and the characters, I cried at the end even though I knew what was going to happen. And most importantly, I wasn't comparing Arno to any other assassin, because I already knew after Connor, that he's lovable in his own way and there's no need to compare him to Ezio, because they're completely different. Unfortunately many players do compare them and they constantly point out how Ezio was better. Well, he wasn't, he was just different. Every character is unique and asking who's better is like asking a parent which one of their children they love the most. Ridiculous and pointless.

      Valhalla has an epic soundtrack and an epic storyline tho. It does a banger good job of portraying the Vikings and their lifestyle as per a scholar who studies the culture(read an article). Don't get me wrong, I love AC: Unity as it is, but it feels as if they were actually trying to tell, through the music, how the French revolution was the most intricate Templar plan since it changed the course of history in such a way that nothing could stop it. Monarchy failed, it was time for them to create a new system that would be the perfect way to control humanity, even if people believed they had any kind of control over their lives.

    I heard a lot about AC series in my gaming life. I played first one at some point in my life but it was everything. But because Ubisoft loves to give ac games for free i got a pretty big collection of it. So finally i decided to play (almost) all of them. It was ACII, Brotherhood, III, IV, Rogue, Liberation and Unity. After finishing most of them (i didn't finish any of Ezio games) i was mostly like "meh" for them. IV and Rogue were nice and III iritated me. And then i launched AC Unity and i sinked to it immidiately. The Graphics, the movement, the story, innovation compared to previous one (although it was still "assassin" game, even more than for example III or IV)... It was all I ever imagined AC to be. So it always seems funny to me that the part of the series that got the most hate of all is actually my favourite... I wish they made more AC like this, maybe in Soviet Russia in times of revoulution or in Poland in 1792-1795 era.

    I played Unity for the first time a few years after its release. I had no idea of bugs and problems it had on release. My opinion wasnt already predetermined by articles and critics, I just opened a game that was new for me. It turned out to be my second favourite AC, right after Black Flag.

    I remember free running in Assassins Creed unity once, but I stopped once I started paying attention to the soundtrack playing. I had not even noticed that music was playing. But it was really quite mesmerizing, as I sit there just listening to the beautiful music. I do not remember much about it, except for the somber, kind of militaristic drum beat in the end. If anyone knows which song Im talking about, and could leave a time stamp, that would mean a lot more than you would believe.

      You know, I was listening to the music from the AC series through the vids on YT and every single one had one or two people in the comments stating that [insert certain AC game number] was the best game in the series. I clicked on this one just out of curiosity, to see if there is an actual retard who thinks that a buggy mess of a game called AC: Unity is the best game in the franchise. Low and behold, here you are. Good job, mate. Not even Reddit was able to harm my faith in humanity as you did.

    This game is indeed criminally underrated. It has imo the best fighting system, with the most satisfying duels. A wonderful soundtrack (I mean just listen!!!) and incredible graphics, that still hold up damn well, even with current games. My main issue with this game is the villain. Why the hell did they create Shay Patrick Cormac in AC Rogue (just as underrated!!), let us experience his fall to the dark side and his hunt for the jedi... sorry I meant to say Assassins, let us kill Arno's dad AND THEN NOT MAKE HIM THE VILLAIN OF AC UNITY?????

  • @Revan-N7
    @Revan-N7 4 роки тому +29

    Music : 10/10
    Gameplay 10/10, best gameplay in the AC franchise, great difficulty.
    Story : 6/10, average at best, following a girl is boring and made Arno the weakest Assassin ever. There's no stake at all, all Arno cared about is putting is d*ck inside Elise rather than being interested in fighting templars.
    The DLC was great, Arno is more mature (and the beard looks great).
    Overall, this is a good game, a good Assassin's Creed. And it feels more like Assassin's Creed than the new AC games (Odyssey, Origins).

    • @Garry_Combine
      @Garry_Combine 4 роки тому +3

      The story had three writers, that's why it's messy. As the saying goes, AC Unity had too many cooks in the kitchen, as a result the story is all over the place.

    • @doofenshmire
      @doofenshmire 4 роки тому +2

      TheLegend Every protagonist has to have a motive, and that motive for Arno was romance. Romance in video games is done fairly well from what I’ve seen.

    • @doofenshmire
      @doofenshmire 4 роки тому

      @TheLegend The man Arno met at the prison could have lied saying his father was an assassin. Arno should not have been an assassin, it was more of an action-romance plot than anything.

    For me Unity was the last masterpiece of this franchise. It had a great historical accuracy and background, awesome parkour, good weapons which combined with little tricks like bombs and poison made stealth enjoyable even when you played on hard missions. Syndicate , Odyssey and Origins have characters and stories so boring and superficial as if they were written by some Disney writers while stealth degenerates after every game. Unity is the last game that makes you feel like an assassin who lived in chaotic times where he must confront both the creed and templars in order to protect the one he loves.
