Thanks! Go for it! Tie it whichever way works best for you! I've always had a long standing habit of tying most of my hitches starting from the top and then moving towards the bottom. Thanks for commenting!
Yes, I created, developed and tested this friction hitch, which is definitely classified as a knot! If you dress and set the knot correctly, and use it correctly, yes, it is safe for climbing and life support/rigging applications!
@@j-jlevy Nice! Great to see someone stress testing my hitch! Not surprised! That would create a total of 7 to 8 wraps between the primary and secondary stages. Definitely not going to budge when tied like that! =-D
It seems to me that three loops on top will hold together a bit better. Have less separation between the segments of the knot. You might call that, "Snail lite". 😄 Thank you for the video! 👍
I would recommend that you only remove a wrap from the coil of you find that four wraps generates too much friction. Not sure that it would reduce separation between the two stages, but it's possible! Thanks for your comment! 😁
Looks pretty good. I think I would start with the overhand before wrapping the coils.

Are you able to climb up and down with the hitch?
Yes, absolutely! Just tie a Poacher's knot on each end of the hitch cord to create eyes. But you probably need a rope wrench.
I prefer the AT prusik easy to tie and more versatile !!
Is that a friction hitch? I've never hear of that one before. Do you know of any videos that show how to tie it?
So you made this not up is it safe 100% thank you

@@Knot-orious thank you so much
You're very welcome! =-D
As a matter of fact, I tried it with 5 and 6 wraps, and used my van to tug on it. Didn't move... stable as F.

Separation creates anxiety. I'm not risking my life.....
@@j-jlevy lol, I know you're just joking, JJ. Don't confuse the viewers! =-P
